Hey everyone!

Mortal Needs is getting a new update: version 2.3.

This is a smaller release in scope, so we are only bumping the module by 0.1, but it focuses on something very important: making Mortal Needs feel better during actual play.

The main goal of this update is simple:

make the module more useful from its compact broadcast view, while taking up less space and staying out of the way when the GM does not need it.

The broadcast HUD has been improved into a much more practical tool for GMs who want to manage survival pressure without constantly opening the full Mortal Needs panel.

What’s New In 2.3

GM-only controls in the Broadcast HUDGMs can now increase or relieve individual needs directly from the broadcast view. The controls appear only for the GM, keeping the player-facing HUD clean.

New compact display optionsThe broadcast HUD now supports multiple density modes, including a much smaller micro-style dock for tables where screen space is precious.

Content focus modesThe HUD can show all needs, only each character’s worst need, or focus on high/critical needs. This makes it easier to keep the broadcast useful without overwhelming the screen.

Idle transparencyThe HUD can fade when not in use and return to full visibility on hover or focus. It stays present, but quiet.

Improved crisis visibilityWhen characters are at risk or in critical condition, the HUD subtly highlights that state so the GM does not miss important pressure points.

Safer dragging and position resetThe broadcast HUD now clamps itself inside the screen, preventing it from getting stuck offscreen. A reset-position button was also added.

This update is about table comfort. Mortal Needs should help the GM apply pressure, track consequences, and create tension without becoming another big window competing with the scene, character sheets, combat tracker, and everything else Foundry already has on screen.

Version 2.3 makes the broadcast HUD feel more like a quiet command tool:powerful when needed, subtle when not.

As always, thank you for supporting Mortal Needs and helping shape it through feedback. This update came directly from user requests, and I think it makes the module smoother, cleaner, and much easier to live with during a session.

There is a write up saying it's a free module, however, it requires a premium module when I attempt to install via the Foundry Hub (sessionflow).

Wand & Widgets

Its an optional install (so you can have the widget in sessionflow, its not oblygatory, you should be able to skip it.)
