The Worldseed pulsed with so much power that, even with his Mantle of Authority protecting him, Elijah felt his hand disintegrating as it drew closer.  To counter it, he’d shifted into his human form so he could use all three of his healing spells.  Blessing of the Grove came first, bathing him in powerfully rejuvenating rain as a blazing sunflower grew at his feet.  The petals were made of fire, while the disc at the center looked like a miniature, white-hot sun.

Next came Nature’s Bloom, healing his damaged body with a single, massive pulse of vitality.  In twenty seconds, another, secondary surge of life-giving energy would come.  Elijah piled five casts, one on top of the other.

And finally, he used Wild Resurgence, filling him with a gentle stream of healing that managed to even it out.

It was the first time he’d managed to cast three spells at once, and doing so very nearly broke his mind.  Still, he managed to hold himself together long enough to truly see the Worldseed.

Unsurprisingly, it was roughly circular in shape, though slightly irregular in arrayment.  Power flowed unevenly through it, with the right side featuring slightly more potent energy.  From the top flowed the weakest stream, which was probably why the shell had broken directly above it.  Otherwise, it looked strikingly similar to a white seed, though one more than a few yards tall and a little less than that in width.

Elijah finally touched it, and briefly, he felt the energy within.  The dense flows of ethera swirled in a convex pattern, mingling with equally thick flows of vitality.  There were other elements there, and once again, Elijah was reminded of a normal seed.  He’d experienced something similar when he’d studied and manipulated the ancestral tree seeds he’d planted outside the Primal Realms.

However, those were far less powerful.  Still, Elijah felt that if he was just a little more powerful, he could have manipulated the Worldseed all the same.  He recognized many of the parts.  Fire.  Earth.  Water.  Wind.  All the elements were there.  Other flavors of ethera – attunements, he believed – were represented as well.

Was that how life came together?  Was that what gave vitality the impetus to become something more?

Elijah didn’t know, but in that moment, with the complex pattern of power woven through the Worldseed laid bare before him, he felt like he understood more than he ever had.  Just a little more time, and he was certain that he’d reach an epiphany.  That he could transfer that knowledge to any number of breakthroughs.

But then, he felt a wave of pain arc through his body as his Mantle of Authority further destabilized.  Knowing that he didn’t have much of a choice in the matter, Elijah decided to table such exploration for another day.  After all, the notification he’d received upon entry into the Primal Realm had been clear about the goal.  He was supposed to obtain the Worldseed.  And now that it was right in front of him, he was eager to do just that.

But when he tried to put it into his Arcane Loop, it resisted.

Suddenly, Elijah felt a spike of pain within his mind as an alien intelligence wrapped itself around his consciousness and began to squeeze.  He countered by pushing even more ethera into his Mantle of Authority – more than he ever could have before upgrading his specialization – but that only held it to a stalemate.

The implication was clear.  The Worldseed was alive.

Sort of.

Elijah could feel that it occupied some gray area between life and inanimacy.  Alive, and yet not.  Or perhaps it was just alive in a different way than Elijah could comprehend.  There was also a rudimentary intelligence there.  A need to protect itself, though he expected that it was more like a Venus fly trap’s reflexive action than the result of conscious thought.

It did have a memory, though.  And it wasn’t shy about sharing it with Elijah.  Suddenly, a cascade of images, sounds, and feelings slammed into him, overwhelming every single leaf in his mind.  He floated there in semi-liquid fire, completely insensate.

He had no way of knowing how long it lasted.

It could have been seconds or years, for all he could perceive.  He was incapable of seeing – or feeling – anything but the flood of memories inflicted upon him.

He saw the planet’s birth as the Worldseed – a tiny, tiny thing – attracted matter and energy to it.  He witnessed the slow build of its landmass, one layer of rock after another.  He felt as life took hold, then died out, then took hold again.  Over and over until it finally stuck.  Great beasts flew through its fiery skies as even larger creatures dug through the planet’s mantle.  Eventually, they began to evolve, one after another until they took on recognizable forms.

One in particular caught Elijah’s eye.

A tiny fire salamander who died to protect her egg and birth the very first dragon.  That lone creature gave rise to an entire race, and soon enough, they became the dominant species.  They took over the planet, establishing superiority across its surface.  Then, the light of true sapience took hold, and they began to band together.  They built cities that spanned the entire planet until some calamity struck.

They broke apart, abandoning the planet as it drifted into the abyss.

That was when the monsters came, constantly digging for the core.  The planet fought back.  The wildlife left behind by the dragons survived for a while.  But then, the monsters won.  The planet fractured, and a period of upheaval followed.  Enormous volcanoes erupted, earthquakes shook the terrain, and the very atmosphere ruptured.

Everything – including the abyssals – died.

The planet’s demise was not instant.  Far from it.  It was powerful.  Solid.  Elijah couldn’t understand the timescale, but he suspected it spanned billions of years.  Slowly, the Worldseed’s power diminished until it could no longer hold the world together.

It broke.

The Worldseed sealed itself off, but it could sense the planet’s pieces slowly drifting apart.  At least until it felt something pierce its body and drag everything back together.  The chains.  The transcendent dragon known as the Red Tyrant.

It was all so clear.

But then, the armies arrived.  At first, there were other transcendents, but the pieces of the planet could not bear their presence.  They very nearly destroyed what was left before they retreated in hopes of preserving the Worldseed.  Deities were next, and though their arrival didn’t cause nearly the same level of destruction, the planet could not bear their presence either.  Not for long, at least.

The sweet spot was demi-gods.

They weren’t powerful enough to travel straight to the fragile Worldseed, so they were forced to begin their journeys on the outskirts of the broken planet.  Elijah was among them.

He knew the rest of the story, but the Worldseed didn’t spare him its memories.  It showed him thousands of battles across the cluster of landmasses that its planet had become.  Some, Elijah recognized as ones in which he had participated, but the vast majority of them were entirely unrelated to his journey.

It seemed that he’d only witnessed a tiny portion of the war.

Finally, he broke free of the memories, only to find that his spells had lapsed.  He pushed himself to repair the damage inflicted upon him, but he knew it was a losing cause.  The reality was that if he was going to survive, he needed to change the environment.

And given that he couldn’t move the Worldseed, he only had one option available to him.

It just so happened that it coincided with one of his short-term goals.  For months, he’d diligently continued to prepare his core for the next step.  He wasn’t quite where he wanted to be.  In fact, he was convinced that he could take his preparations a little further.  Yet, he knew he couldn’t find a better cultivation environment than next to the Worldseed.

Nearly infinite ethera at his fingertips.  Elijah only needed to harness it.  The setting only made it feel even more appropriate.  Like it was his birthright.  After all, his draconic race had been born on that very planet.  It was where they had risen to prominence.  So, using it to fuel his advancement into the next step of cultivation felt right in a way that Elijah could scarcely wrap his mind around.

However, with so much power came danger.  Elijah knew that survival was anything but assured.

He pushed those thoughts aside, buoyed by the pride of a dragon.  Or perhaps it was arrogance.  He was no stranger to hubris, after all.

Whatever the case, he didn’t hesitate to open himself up and begin the process of absorbing the dense ethera rolling off of the Worldseed.  It entered his mind like a wildfire, burning through his soul without mercy.  Pain unlike anything he’d ever felt tore through him, and he didn’t dare quarantine it in another section of his mind.

Instead, he forced himself to feel it.  To endure it.  To let it scar him.  He allowed it to inundate him in the hopes that it would leave him changed.  That scathing energy filled his core to bursting, expanding the confines until Elijah knew he could take no more.  Then, he forced it out.  It burned its way through the boughs of his soul, only to join the rest of the ambient energy.

And then he did it again.

Over and over, he cycled the power through his system, slowly expanding his core, inch by metaphysical inch.  With each instance, a bloated feeling filled him, mingling with the pain to create an amalgamation of discomfort that defied ready description.

Or maybe discomfort was too soft of a word.  Torture might’ve been better suited to Elijah’s situation.  Not that he had the ability to think in such terms.  Instead, the entirety of his mind remained dedicated to controlling the flow of energy, lest he overfill the core until it burst.  If that happened too soon, ruined cultivation would be the least of his worries.

Gradually, his core expanded, both in its inert state as well as when he filled it to its maximum capacity.  Elijah kept going, cycling the process multiple times until, at last, its elasticity was spent.  The core couldn’t be contained within his body, and yet, it still remained the center of his entire system.

It didn’t make sense, and what’s more, it was not tenable.  If Elijah stopped, the entire system would collapse in on itself like a dying star.

Elijah held it in stasis only for a second as he took a metaphorical breath.  The solid shell around the Worldseed had begun to degrade.  The horde of monsters, dragons, and vespirans continuously clawed their way through.  He knew they were out there, ready to devour the treasure at the center of the planetary core.

And him, too.  His energy had merged with the ethera coming from the Worldseed until they were practically one.  That had not been his intention.  He just wanted to drain it so he could survive.

But it didn’t matter.  It couldn’t.  Elijah could only keep pushing and hope he somehow emerged on the other side.

To that end, he gritted his teeth – what was left of them, after everything he’d endured – and opened the floodgates for more ethera.  His core flexed just a little more before he activated Nature’s Design.

The spell used almost no ethera, but even diverting that much power was almost enough to throw him entirely off-balance and ruin everything.  But he maintained control, guiding the flows of ethera through his bloated core.

His Mantle of Authority dissipated, exposing him to the full fury of the Worldseed’s power.  And yet, it did not burn him to ash.  Instead, he’d fully incorporated its power into his own.  They were attached.  Integrated.  It was a part of him just as he had become a part of it.

Was this the true reason everyone wanted the Worldseed?

No.  Elijah was certain of that.

The power flowed through him, and he guided it into his own core, absorbing the seed and using it to bolster the imagery he’d already established.  Doing so was the most painful thing he’d ever experienced, and yet, it also felt right in a way he couldn’t quite explain.

It also took a subjective eternity until, at last, the Worldseed was no more.  Only Elijah floated in the center of that mass of liquid fire.

That was the first stage of his core cultivation completed.  Now, he just needed to push forward into the next, which he knew would be much more difficult than any that had come before.

damnnn i cant wait till the next chapter is released

Knyko

crazy

DrDankness

Holy shit Elijah just sucked up the god damn world seed into his core. He gonna burst out of the god damn shell of a broken planet as a full fledged emerald dragon.

SMAUG199842!

hopefully, he isn't interrupted

StraylightGrove

Waiting until tomorrow already sucks. Oh well

thomas johnson

WOW, did not expect this to all who said this would be an excellent cultivation, you were right. Amazing chapter. Am I the only one definitely thinking he should have leveled by now though or at least ackonwleged in the preivous chapter lol.

Diarmuid McGinnity

Great chapter. “Was this the true reason everyone wanted the Worldseed? No. Elijah was certain of that.” Does he mean that it is or it isn’t the reason?

NiceTryMate

I think it means that it is the reason? No, I am certain of that. ^^

Diarmuid McGinnity

He’ll probably have to kill his way out so I’d say he’ll get very near to 250. Hopefully

Lizy Flore

Aaaaahhhhrrgggghhhhhh. Come on. I’m used to cliffhangers, but this one is evil.

thomas johnson

Doing the chapter math 1 chapter for rewards/level 240, 3 chapters for core dream, and 2 side chapters from other areas on the map. Okay, so we will know next Wednesday, give or take what the rewards are for the primal realm lol!!!

Thejasvi Prahlad

Pretty sure he means that the people who wanted the worldseed didnt seek to hoover it into their core like kirby

Dan K

I called it! Posted a reply to a comment a bit ago saying I bet he gets trapped with the world seed!

NiceTryMate

I think people want it for the benefits it could provide. But i think few have the ability to modify the seed through an ability to make absorption possible.

Hauke Sattler

I can see another visit from Kirlissa coming.

Hauke Sattler

Call for your opinion: Is it just me, or do you think this cultivation upgrade will be at least as great as him obtaining the Dragon Core?

Oztharon

Will be very impactful for his future growth as by taking the crown/worldseed of the dragons homeworld I think he'll gain some of its qualities for flame through his mantle and will weigh heavier when compared to any dragon of the same teir. Perhaps through this he'll lower the requirement for changing his for to that of a dragon from the 7th teir to around 6/5th teir cultivation due to the raw connection

RonGAR

Dammn... IF he can do this to his Core now, then his spells are going to be hella powerful afterward. Either that, or his 'cool downs will be reduced to next to nothing. And Heart of Fire won't require so much 'dancing around' before he can build up a charge. #Excited.

RonGAR

Yeeesssirrr good times are ahead for our boy! I don't see anyone else doing the same. So he better keep that a secret.

Hauke Sattler

Probably now a 1-2 charges Heart of Fire equal what was formerly a 100 charges Heart of Fire. Or all his abilities a mixed up now. Like all his forms, can breathe fire, all of the can spore, all of them have lightning speed...etc.

TreeReader

Yeah thats an amazing way to upgrade his core lmao. This should make it so absolutely nobody on earth can even get close to hurting elijah now lol. I bet it's gonna be another week so 8 or 9 chapters till we get to end of this primal realm with dragon vision and core descriptions. Maby 1 or 2 after that for him to make it back to the grove. Plus few chapters about Sadie and fang one about gunner

TreeReader

Also can you imagine what this will do to his choices when he goes to demi God lol. He's gonna get some siiicckkkk choices lol

Hauke Sattler

He can only go demigod after he finishes this PR. He has to visit a branch to get his options. Question is, if the number of options will be in the triple digits again.

Jeremy Patrick

LOL the image he has in his mind is a tree and he is feeding it a world seed? lol I can just image his core absorbing the seed and becoming a world core and his tree becoming the next yggdrasil. LMAO This is going to be fun. Cant wait till tomorrow to see how this plays out.

L. K. Minaget

I will be very surprised if he became a full dragon, but would be very pleased kkkk

TreeReader

Yes am aware lol he also needs to gain more levels so he may not get it till after djinn lol

EsoEasy

Is the core advancement the one that leaves him in a cocoon and potentially vulnerable for weeks/months? Or was that body cultivation? Either way, I imagine Elijah will have to bust out like a superhero. Cool chapter.

guillaume nguyen

Well I doubt every dragons had the opportunity to integrate with the WorldSeed of the Broken Crown, even a watered down version.

Laszlo Katai

That's the body cultivation.

Laszlo Katai

So core cultivation is happening. I would have never guessed that. It means he will become a full dragon (young one but still...). Cool. I wander what shape it will be. And it should be his new natural form. Maybe it will still be almost like a human. We will see.

Hauke Sattler

@guillaume nguyen Well let's analyse the circumstances: Q: Does every world has a Dragon PR? A: Not sure, but I don't think so. Q: Does every Dragon PR plays on the Broken Crown? A: Very unlikely. I have the impression that every PR is unique. Q: How many world have nascent PRs (those PR which have NEVER been conquered yet) A: The world has to nascent itself. So those are probably rare. Q: How many nascent worlds have dragons on them. A: Also rare. Established dragons need a high ethera density. Nascent worlds have low ethera density. So it has to be a native dragon. With all these requirements, the chance that any other dragon had this opportunity is near zero.

Viria

The most brutal yet IMO. I thought the Geneva convention protected us against this kind of abuse ...

Hauke Sattler

Well Kirlassa predicted, that he will need several further cultivation evolutions before he could gain his full dragon form. But Kirlissa has been proven wrong (by Elijah) before. And I firmly believe that this will be the case this time too.

im Panda

Can I pay more money for more chappy please qq

Brom Shropshire

Wait... is this MF going for a 5th stage core when 4th stage was already considered some kind of insane miracle achievement? Dude.

Aleas

Or we get Carmen and Sadie POV 😃

Lachoneus

You know the next chapter is going to be a Gunner chapter out a Sadie chapter.

TheCrazyDuck

Elijah's path of cultivation is so full of anomalies that it hardly fits normal classification.

Matheus Eduardo

Holy this was not in my bingo card at all!!!!

Lachoneus

Am I the only one who hopes he does through an ugly ducking phase. Where he's partially transformed and it's super awkward.

Brahman Brahman

Every integrated world has to complete the integration (which means dealing with the PRs) and the PRs represent the elder races, and dragons are elder races so all worlds should have a dragon PR

Hauke Sattler

@Brahman Brahman I stand corrected about "every world having a Dragon PR" But only worlds within their integration phase have virgin PRs. As soon as they are integrated all PRs have been already conquered at least once. So a first dragon PR conquest can only happen once per world. And since that PRs are normally conquered by groups a solo+first conquest should be incredible rare.

Laszlo Katai

That's why I take a break till Sunday. I will read Sunday when double chapter is out. I usually don't read the gunnar chapters. I don't care what he does.

Lachoneus

I would also like to add that I think the primal realms got upgraded to the max tier because of how well they did in the trail. They managed to fully clear the trail and kill the boss.

Hauke Sattler

@Richard Loveless You mean the trial of primacy?

Lachoneus

He is currently at the 3rd stage in core, and 4th in body mind and soul.

Lachoneus

Do you think it will come when he finishes the cultivation or when he leaves the primal realm. I bet it's when he finishes his core. I bet he finishes his core while he's being attacked by the monsters, and kirrilisa... Pauses time for him in the primal realm so they can have a fun chat.

Hauke Sattler

Good suggestion. My guess is, that he finishes his cultivation and solving the PR at the same time. And since the world seed is gone "at last, the Worldseed was no more" the bait for all the monsters/dragons/wasps is gone too. So probably they will just return to killing each other.

DeadSlime

The power of a star (planet) in the palm of my hand! This is some insane world ending or creating shit!!

Lachoneus

I can't wait for him to finish cultivating his core to the next stage while I'm combat with demigods.

Arlano

It's TAIL unlock time

RonGAR

Yet... in the 20 chapter some no name lame will have 'caught up' and will be able to 'challenge' Elijah. SMH Most LITRPG do some nonsense like that to keep their MC from seeming too 'O.P'

RonGAR

Wwwwaaaitttt a minute. Wait one damn minute. QUESTION: Does this action change his dragon core to a 'WorldSeed" Core? B/c from what was described, he wasn't 'consuming' the world seed, he was 'blending' his core with that of the worldseed energy. Is he going to have some kind of 'hybrid core"???

TheCrazyDuck

The previous times Elijah was challenged by a native it was because he had halted his advancement for several months and was up against someone that was very specialized in sniping specifically, and Elijah while somewhat focused on battle is very spread out in capability. It was a showcase of how specialisation can in specific cases overcome great obstacles, but also show that power still trumps all since Elijah won in the end. Back to the point though, Elijah has just spent half a year alone in the dragon PR and has just reached the fourth overall threshold of cultivation which is going to give him a huge boost in every aspect, not to mention the likely way stronger than average core whose effect is further boosted by his latest specialisation focusing on his core. (Damn, this ended up quite the blurb)

TheCrazyDuck

Since there have only been Elijah chapters since he entered the PR hopefully that trends continues and we get the conclusion of the PR before we find out what has been going on outside.

Kyler

Definitely after Djinn, he's gotta get that experience with casting spells freely to get that top tier rarity class

Laszlo Katai

How can it change his core? Worldseed is not a core for a sentient being. Its a natural treasure for him to use for advancing his core.

InLucidReverie

Pretty sure reaching demigod and this stage of cultivation will mean he's untouchable until he leaves earth. He won't have this problem again on Earth

InLucidReverie

He might not need more levels. We haven't seen his level since before the timeskip, so he might be almost there. That and he will have to fight off hoards ofbthe strongest in the primal realm after this

InLucidReverie

Definitely. She meets him after every big milestone. ESPECIALLY core cultivation

InLucidReverie

Remember that core cultivation comes with a ehope memories challenge. It's likely she will piggyback off that

Lachoneus

I was worried about that too, out at least something similar. If he's trying to visualize his core as a seed growing into a tree, will that change his core from a dragon core to a tree core of some kind?

Laszlo Katai

She said he would be a full dragon upon reaching stage 4 with all aspects of cultivations but he will be a young dragon then not an adult one.
