“That’s fair. I think we’ve all been more than a little busy lately,” the Fairy woman agreed.
“Speaking of which, what is everyone going to be up to? Just so we know who is doing what and where they are,” Jason put forward.
“Well, Aaliyah and I will be getting on a flight to New Orleans. We have a few contacts down there who could help us locate the ingredients we need for the reconstruction of the scepter,” Darnell stated.
“Maybe see if there’s any trace of a Gaian grove down there too! If you find it, you two could jump straight on through to get back! No need to get back onto a plane!” Emalia stated.
“Now that’s a hell of an idea! How would we find such a grove, though?” Darnell wondered.
“I think Ema, Lina, and I can craft a little something that can act as a… compass of sorts. Luke, do you think you could help us in its creation?” Phalmina asked out loud.
“Shouldn’t take too long to whip something up. Does it require anything exotic?” Luke asked as he finished up with his breakfast.
“Nope. Just a few basic metals engraved with runes will do the trick,” Phalmina said as she stood up and stretched.
“Don’t take too long, you two. We are supposed to meet with Zaryna at the airport later,” Dominique said, reminding them.
“She’s not due in until almost eight PM, right?” Luke asked, making sure he had the time right.
“Yes, but I’m just saying, don’t lose yourself in your work, as you have a habit of doing, Luke,” Dominique chided. Luke smiled and nodded, knowing that his one-time girlfriend had him there.
“Well, once we’re finished up with breakfast, we’ll take Jen here to her home, so she can get her things. We’ll also keep an eye on things and have safeguards in play so that… thing doesn’t progress any further,” Dimitrius said as he looked over Valerie.
“I’m coming too!” Xaera blurted before she blushed. “I mean, it can’t hurt to have an aspiring Troll mage on hand in case things get a little… dicey, can it?”
“An excellent point! Also… I may have something for you in my hoard,” Dimitrius stated as he recalled something.
“Oh? What is it?” Xaera wondered around a mouthful of food.
“I can’t recall off the top of my head… but I know it is Trollish in origin,” the warlock replied.
“OK, so that’s settled. What about you and your family, Eva?” Jason wondered.
“We’ll head into the city and do some recon. Make contact with Felix and the Guardians of Shiva, see if they have anything. Also, do you think this… Sigi… would accept us stepping into her shop?” the Druidess questioned.
“I don’t know. It’s possible! I mean, no one in your family has malicious intent or is aligned with the Dark, so the likelihood of you and yours being granted entry is possible,” Sheena responded.
“We’ll be there with Sigi anyway, so if you lot are stopping by, that would be great!” Jason added.
“Letting her know about her brother?” Emalia queried.
“Yeah and getting her take on things. While the man is a powerful member of the Gray, we can’t really get a read on him. Whatever Sigi knows could help us in further understanding the man and his motives,” Jason put forward.
“Do you think it will help? I mean, there’s literally thousands of years of time between the pair of them. I’m not so sure she’ll know anything about him anymore,” Sheena stated.
“Be that as it may, if there’s anything useful to be known about the man, we should learn about it. Even though he’s a Gray and dedicated to keeping the balance, him deciding to change sided like a switch flipping is more than a little sus. Anything we can find could help,” Jason insisted.
“Jay’s not wrong there, Sheena. No matter how old some people get, there’s always something from the past they cling onto,” Luke offered.
