This is the start of a transition. On Ben's side we got to see how people react to his reputation both as a regulator and as a hero. We also have some people staying behind while the ones that continue with our heroes do so as a way to finally stand on their own apart from their families. With Samara 's group we have something similar only with more sex and less goodbyes.

My only concern is would Samara move on from Ben. It seems like that is what is going on but I might be misreading the cues.
