Into the lair of the Queen...

Apologies for the delay on this one. Being a new parent is more taxing than I anticipated.

Tor Einar Johansen

Another trilling chapter ending on one hell of a cliffhanger good Sir. You better take the time you need Masterwriter, your family comes first of all. We your avid supporters and eager readers should come lower down on the list naturally.

Jon

I have waited for this and was happy for it. It did seem a little shorter than usual but that is most likely me. I feel like this story arc was not originally meant to be long but you changed you're mind halfway lol. On another note it works because it's spooky season now. Make sure not to burn yourself out with all the new story and continuing series. Being a parent takes a lot of time and patience and burn out is definitely a thing. Also still requesting a safe for work pictures of species!

Great chapter! I admit I kind of skipped through the erotic scene, but a great chapter! I do have one question though… we know that they have the ability to open Aetheric Portals (from previous chapters) big enough to take a small space fleet through them… so why aren’t they using them anymore, insofar as I can discern, when it would be useful, such as to bypass a security door, or to board a sealed Outpost?

Evan

On a different topic, do you want typos pointed out?

C. H. Darkstrider

Firstly, is because it takes a great deal of power and energy to do so and using such power can be taxing on the user in question, as was outlined the last few times they did that. Next is that they don't always want too many witnesses who may not align with their ideals to see it. With Prodosia, that was practically a war zone, but with only so many people who would start blabbing about them and most of whom were taken into custody and will now be prisoners. Sure, a few got away, but given Sawyer and the way he does things, and how his sister Dreanna is, it's very likely they want to keep a lid on this and not let the general populace know about it. Also, with the people of Prodosia, who the crew literally defended with their lives, they wouldn't go blabbing to anyone who they couldn't trust to keep their mouths shut, as exposing their heroes for what they can do invites all sorts of trouble down on them.

Evan

Thank you for the reply. I completely understand about the no unnecessary witness issue - and yes, I know that they’re the ‘good guys’, so they’re not going to be eliminating witnesses! - but I wasn’t sure who was venturing into the depths to fight the Queen who wasn’t considered trustworthy… although they might need to use that power if they destabilise the underground complex when they (hopefully) kill this queen.

Also, from a tactical standpoint, if you open a portal right on top of your enemy, or right on top of a trap trigger, then boom, there goes the element of surprise or some sort of effect that takes out the whole team, instead of someone in an advance position. Plus, they try stepping in and taking out one group in advance, you open yourself up to the distinct possibility of facing a group at your rear and the front, as opposed to fighting your enemy from the front and then using it, once you know what it is you are facing. Plus, in an operational capacity, it is better to have that portal ability as a way out to prevent casualties as opposed to burning yourself out from jump, then having only half a tank of energy at the ready, as opposed to doing things conventionally and having a full tank for whatever monstrosities await.
