“Desire, when left untended, becomes a storm, Selena. But when you acknowledge it, when you allow it to be known… it becomes a fire you can control. Warm and comforting… not a blaze that consumes, but a hearth that sustains.”
Her fingertips brushed lightly up the inside of Selena’s wrist, toying gently with the silver rosary coiled there.
“Even this…” Agatha murmured, her thumb tracing the delicate cross. “A symbol of faith… but also a reminder that we are made of both spirit and flesh. Is it not written that we are wonderfully made? Would you not honor that creation by cherishing it fully, rather than denying it out of fear?”
Sister Selena shivered under that gaze, her heart pounding a confused, frantic rhythm against her ribs. Her mind knew she should pull away, but the warmth of Agatha’s touch, and the weight of her words, felt like standing at the edge of a vast and beautiful unknown. She licked her lips nervously, her voice barely audible.
“I… I don’t know what to think anymore.”
“Then think on this, my sweet child… what if the truest form of devotion is not in denial, but in understanding? In learning the difference between what brings you to ruin… and what makes you whole,” Agatha asked, her smile softer still.
The words echoed through Selena’s mind like a distant, beckoning melody that was both dangerous and sweet. Agatha rose gracefully from her chair, circling behind Selena with the smooth, measured movements of a woman utterly in control of herself and the space around her. Her fingertips trailed gently across the back of Selena’s chair, her voice low and rich as a priestess confiding a sacred secret.
“Remember, child… even the most devout saints were not without their moments of longing,” she said, the words curling through the air like fragrant incense. “It is not the absence of desire that makes us virtuous, but how we choose to understand it… to master it. Denial is a brittle thing, as it shatters easily. But knowledge… acceptance… control—these are unbreakable.”
Selena drew in a shaky breath, her heart pounding so hard she could feel it in her throat. The logic was dangerous, yes, but… undeniable. And coming from Agatha, it sounded so poised, so strong, and yet so impossibly beautiful. The way she had framed it was less like temptation and more like truth.
Agatha moved back to her chair, settling gracefully once more, her robes drawing tight across the curves that no habit could fully conceal. Her pale blue-gray eyes locked onto Selena’s, and for a heartbeat, there was a rawness there—something deeper, hungrier, hidden beneath layers of serene authority.
Selena’s gaze dipped for just a moment, her eyes lingering on the graceful curve of Agatha’s neck. Especially the soft, rounded fullness beneath her robes, the effortless way she exuded both command and comfort. Her eyes were still for only a moment, but it felt like a moment too long. Selena’s cheeks flushed with heat, and she stood abruptly, her voice soft but hurried.
“Thank you… Sister Agatha. I—your guidance means more than I can say. I should… return to my duties.”
Agatha inclined her head, her smile gentle, though her eyes gleamed with something far more knowing. “Of course, my dear. Go in peace.”
Selena dipped into a respectful bow and hurried from the chamber, her thoughts a tumult of confusion and something far more dangerous… curiosity. As the echoes of her footsteps faded, Agatha leaned back in her chair, her smile deepening, slow and satisfied.
For a brief moment, her pale eyes flickered, and a flash of slitted silver cut through the calm serenity of her expression. And from somewhere deep within, a voice, rich and dark with sinful delight, purred through her mind like silk sliding over bare skin.
‘Delicious.’
Agatha blinked, her heart skipping, and she sat forward with a sharp breath as though waking from a dream. Her eyes returned to their soft, pale blue-gray, confusion creasing her brow. She pressed a hand to her chest, breathing deeply, dismissing the flicker of unease that stirred beneath the surface. It was just exhaustion, nothing more, and yet… a faint, almost imperceptible smile tugged at the corners of her lips.
