A new normal, and new faces!

There were some interesting things in this chapter but I think that the best place to start would be Kerrik. It really seems like there was another type of mutation for humans of this time and it makes sense that going deep underground would be a viable method of survival and one that ended up being something that's stuck for the people that used it. If he is a representation of what to expect from his people then I think you did a decent job of that for numerous reasons. The spear being their main weapon for the reasons he listed and that reminded me of just why the spear ended up being One of the first and most used weapons in human history. The pragmatism on display was also understandable for people that have made it their mission to avoid The surface and stay safe. Kerrik's youth also comes into play here since he takes a chance that an older and more experienced would know to avoid especially when darkwolves are present and they are very good at detecting others. I am interested to see where that goes since this new normal just got quite a significant overhaul. Aside from that the fighting does continue but not to a big extent and it seems like security measures have been thought off and implemented. Even if it was small, I liked catching up with Samara and her group and I especially liked how she thinks about the life growing inside her. Speaking of which, Byanka is fertile again so she is well as Ylva Make sure to get some fun and private time with Ben to make sure that she conceives this time. And of course we can't forget the bookstore which was found during a routine patrol and extermination. I wonder what you have in mind for the books they got. Anyhow, I felt like this update took a while but I did like what I saw. Hopefully the next one doesn't take so long.
