The Main Three Review; Should We Shake Things Up?
- Project Prometheus 6
- Gaia's Champion 40
- Tales of the Wastelander 8
- None - Leave the Main Three Alone 40
I've been thinking about something for the last little while, and I've decided that rather than making this decision myself, I'm going to put it in your hands.
As most of you know, I have my Main Three stories: Project Prometheus, Gaia's Champion, and Tales of the Wastelander. These are the stories that have guaranteed places in my regular writing schedule, while everything else gets its chance through Patron's Pick or whenever I can squeeze in some extra writing time.
But here's the thing... Ive been paying attention.
There are several stories outside the Main Three that seem to be developing some serious Main Three energy of their own. Some of them keep getting votes while others get a lot of enthusiasm whenever a new chapter appears. I've started wondering whether one of these stories deserves a proper chance in the spotlight instead of constantly having to fight its way through Patron's Pick.
I could simply decide which story gets promoted and which one gets moved into the Patron's Pick rotation. But that doesn't seem nearly as fun.
More importantly, you're the people actually reading these stories and supporting me every month. I want to know what YOU want to read.
So, we're having our first Main Three Review.
For the next two weeks only, you get to decide whether one of the current Main Three should give up its guaranteed spot and move into the Patron's Pick pool.
And yes, "Leave the Main Three Alone" is an option. If you're happy with the current lineup, tell me! I'm not changing something just for the sake of changing it.
But if you've been sitting there thinking:
'Dammit, Darkstrider, I like this other story more. Give THAT one a regular chapter!'
Well... now's your chance. Don't sit on your hands or assume everyone else is going to vote the way you're hoping. Vote.
If the decision is to keep the current Main Three, that's exactly what we'll do. But if you decide that one of them should rotate out, I'll immediately put up a second poll titled: Choose the Next Main Story.
That's when the other stories get their shot.
You'll decide which one gets promoted into the Main Three and receives a guaranteed place in my regular writing schedule beginning in November. The story that rotates out isn't cancelled or abandoned; it simply joins the Patron's Pick rotation and can still receive new chapters through your monthly votes.
Going forward, I may do a Main Three Review every few months. My catalogue has gotten big enough that I don't necessarily want the same three stories permanently occupying those spots if you guys are telling me there's another story you're dying to see more of.
Maybe the current lineup stays exactly where it is. Or one of the challengers finally gets its shot at the title.
That's up to you.
You've got two weeks,as voting closes October 10th, so make your choice count. Which of the Main Three, if any, should rotate into Patron's Pick?
IMPORTANT VOTING CLARIFICATION:
Since this poll has gotten way more attention than I expected, and the results are getting incredibly close, I want to clarify exactly how the final result will be determined. This poll is effectively answering two questions:
1. Do you want the Main Three changed at all?
2. If so, which story should rotate out?
Because the votes for change are divided between three different stories while “None — Leave the Main Three Alone” is a single option, I'll first count the three rotation choices together.
If the combined votes to rotate a story out beat Leave the Main Three Alone, then the Main Three will change. Whichever of the three stories received the most individual votes to be rotated out will move into the Patron's Pick pool.
If Leave the Main Three Alone beats the combined rotation vote, nothing changes. If those two sides somehow finish in an exact tie, I'll run a short 48-hour runoff asking one simple question: Change the Main Three — Yes or No?
I'm clarifying this now, well before voting closes on October 10, so everybody knows exactly how their vote will be counted.
Now get in there and vote. This thing is getting way closer than I expected.
