Kenpachi roughly (because I'm relaying on info from when I was 15 and I'm 32 now) translates to something like The One Who Enjoys/Lusts For Battle The Most

Fahad Khan

I am not a "death equals good meathead", but I'm sure plenty of people have told you by now how Byakuya survived in the first place. Kubo was forced to do that, which is made even more evident as they removed Jugram's sentence where he proclaimed Byakuya was dead in the manga. Plus, it would also have been so good storytelling-wise for Renji and Rukia, considering how the Blade is Me element would have tied to it. In the manga, we also learn how Ikkaku's Bankai is not strong anymore, as it was destroyed in the Arrancar arc. Same with Renji, as it was destroyed by Byakuya. This explains how Renji kept getting losses, and on top of that, his Bankai was not fully developed either. With Kommamura, his connection with his Bankai is so deep that even if his Bankai is destroyed, as long as he fully heals, his Bankai would be restored. Also, Mayuri modifies his Bankai as he's a scientist. Since Bankais are externalisation of one's inner self, it would not affect him. Urahara took inspiration from the healing ponds that Kirinji made to make the ones that we see in the Soul Society arc.
