If you enjoy the world building now, you're gonna lose your mind starting... a hundred episodes or so, lol. As for the characters on your shirt, you'll meet them before the hundred episodes mark. :)

As a One Piece enthusiast and triviaphile, I love how its author Oda hid things both in plain sight and in the manga's q&a section (SBS in Japanese) over the last 25 years. META trivia --The Fullbody encounter, Kuro cameo, barkeep and his bar are all anime-exclusive fluff. East Blue has the most apparent changes from the manga --E.g. Chapter 1 was the kid Luffy and Shanks encounter and later jumps to the present. How Luffy got the scar on his cheek is censored in the anime but was the first thing we see. --E.g. Gaimon only met Luffy and Nami while Zoro slept, before they met Usopp --Draft sketches reveal prototype Zoro was on Buggy's crew, Sanji was a gunslinger, and Nami had a metal arm and giant battle-axe --"Romance Dawn" was the original series name and had many prototype printings. Romance Dawn became Chapter 1's title. One of the prototypes get animated in episode 907, a 20th anniversary special (it has spoilers at this point, but it's a treat when you get there) --Before Devil Fruits were fleshed out, Luffy ate a fruit from the "Gum-Gum Tree" or maybe this was in-world misinformation. Oda had many dozens of powers in his head either way. --Oda starts chapters with either fun artwork or "cover stories," the latter of which are canon side stories, spread one panel per chapter. Sadly, very few cover stories got animated but they are sometimes important

CANON trivia --Since it was censored, it's technically not a spoiler, 7 year old Luffy stabbed his own cheek to prove to Shanks that he's tough --Buggy's Adventure is the first cover story --Logue Town as in "Prologue." It is the beginning for Roger and Luffy, and the "Epilogue" for Roger --Zoro's attacks are sometimes sushi puns (Oni Giri/Demon Cutter, Nigiri/Two Cutter, Tatsumaki/Dragon Twister) and often animal related --Sanji's attacks are almost always his target in French in terms of meat cuts, the Viz manga likes to make alliteration and cooking puns out of them --Fusha/Foosha Village is aka Windmill Village (a direct translation). Mayor's name is Woop Slap --Easter Egg: Doskoi Panda, a popular in-world clothing franchise label --Easter Egg: PandaMan, a joke character in the background very often (Wrestler, panda mask, heart nipples) --The crew's ages in order: Zoro-19, Sanji-19, Nami-18, Usopp-17, Luffy-17

So coming up after episode 53 there is a filler arc from 54-60. It's not very interesting and not really worth watching, BUT there is a short scene that has important canon info about the geography of the world which you should watch: * The scene is in the first short part of episode 55 up until around the 8ish minute mark (once the crew lands on an island for the filler arc you can skip the rest of the episode). * The first half of episode 61 is also filler and the canon material starts again in the second half (right after the commercial break screen).
