Shadow Money Wizard Gang Chapter 4 (Patreon)

It turned out... Trying to fight, goth Ivy from Soul Calibur with a dagger. A dagger I myself wasn't that talented with. It was a bad fucking idea.
Thankfully Hamara, although clearly a seductress and walking femme fatale. She wasn't cruel, and didn't like... Try to kick me in the nuts or anything.
Nope, I walked out of the arena with a bruised rib from her smashing me in the chest with the pommel of her sword. And several large but shallow cuts she did to me for being stupid and trying to block her whip sword, which was a lot longer than I expected.
"Ufufu, don't pout Jake. I didn't cut off one of your fingers for being stupid and trying to grab my sword. A minor lesson for the healers to fix, but I can't... Bully you when you just arrived." Hamara said with a velvet chuckle that made my dick twitch with the sensual power in it.
Yeah... In this world or at least for me who wasn't a 'seaweed' brain. Children of Aphrodite were walking memetic horny hazards I coudn't deny. And it didn't help that the majority of them were like metamorphmagus from Harry Potter.
Because I watched in real time as Hamara's luscious black hair turned to a dark purple over the time we fought and she escorted me toward the medical tents.
Honestly it never made sense how limited the children of the gods were in Percy Jackson that weren't Percy Jackson himself who inherited all of his father's most powerful domains.
A daughter of Aphrodite more than anything should be able to control their 'beauty' after all even if it wasn't a soul based reflection like Aphrodite could do to match the taste of whoever she is in front of.
Still, Hamara wasn't a weak little airhead that most children of Aphrodite were labled as in Percy Jackson. Hell most of the people of that cabin I noticed didn't look like they were air heads either.
"You are a scary woman." I said helplessly as I entered the medical tent and a blond teen who was obviously a son of Apollo came over with a roll of golden glazed bandages.
To which Hamara said rather bluntly as she turned on her heel to leave me to get bandaged up. "Because when I do get the chance to get on a quest. I don't want to be made the toy of a monster... Or be betrayed and toyed with by my companions."
The thorny beauty left with the son of Apollo wolf whistling and saying with a helpless grin. "Because of her buddy. I can tell you are new with how you aren't fucking terrified of her."
I raised an eyebrow in confusion and then hissed as the cuts burned as he wrapped them as he answered my obvious question.
"She almost got despoiled by some cyclops before a group of demigods found and saved her on there own quest. One of them, a son of Ares attacked her while the group was sleeping and she castrated him before slitting his throat."
My lips twitched before I shivered at the memory of her amused smile when I threatened to curse her if she went for my junk at all.
"Yup... I am going to kick Fredric's ass for dumping me on her for my first sparring match."
The Apollo kid chuckled and said. "Alright, good luck with that. Names, Steve Young, son of Apollo. How about you newbie?"
"Jake Bariss, unclaimed so far. Only been here for a couple days but I know my parent has something to do with magic." I said with a shrug before asked curiously. "So besides archery, do you have healing abilities, or solar/light abilities?"
Steve's face twitched before he shrugged and said with an annoyed grunt. "Yeah most of us can do targeted divine healing buts... Extremely exhausting and normally not worth it. And only a couple of us can use photokinesis. Anyway, get on out of here. Those cuts will heal fully in a couple hours with the diluted nectar."
It seemed I touched on a sensative topic when I brought up the domains of Apollo kids, so I didn't ask questions anymore as I left.
After a looong minute thinking about what I should do now. I muttered to myself. "I need to figure out a way to bless my wand with some divinity. So my spells can waste monsters when they do lethal damage anyway."
As for how to do that...
I had a couple ideas how to do that. I could find a yew tree's dryad spirit and bind her to the wand. Granting the wand itself a spirit and divinity making it a powerful conduit.
But I had a very strong feeling that turning a big titty tree spirit would be a quick way to get smote by one of her previous lovers as dryads and such spirits typically had a fucking looong list of previous lovers.
So with a hum, I made my way to the center of camp, past the cathedral and the cafeteria to the central bonfire.
The central bonfire, I could feel it's divinity. The protection of the Hearth Flames that rolled gently as Hestia. The patron goddess watched over us more closely then Chiron or Dionysus.
I took out a cookie I had taken from the cafeteria and I gently tossed the cookie into the heart of the coals while whispering. "Thank you for welcoming me into camp Lady Hestia."
The fire glowed a soft gold with softly glowing sparks cracking out of the flames and gently flew towards me.
I closed my eyes as the sparks closed in and then I felt the sparks cross over my form. Each a finger of hot but not burning pressure that gave me a pat on the head, a swipe on the shoulder and other forms of affirmation before the gently burning divinity returned to normality.
So with a hum I just relaxed at the fire pits large edge for a couple hours... Literally just wasting three hours as I carefully laid my shoes partly into the fire pit as I leaned forward to hold my hands closer to the flames.
And then after that good while I gently and carefully got up to walk away after taking off my shoes back to the cafeteria.
'Got the goods!" I grinned as I carefully, very carefully dug up the ashes filling the bottom of my shoes and put them into a small pouch I conjured up.
Hestia's divinity was so gentle and non-confrontational that it woudn't fuck up my wand as I bound the ashes to it. And her main domain of the Hearth in fire woudn't clash with my wands core which was a Phoenix feather either!
So with my slightly ill-gotten gains in hand, I made my way quickly back to the Hermes Cabin and then to my own room before I got to work obviously.
As I wasn't going to waste a single moment in a world I couldn't just cast a fire ball that could actually kill a monster!
I took out my wand, and then with a hum I carefully cut and scraped off the wax and oil finish off the wand before I created a small flame that begun to heat up some new wax that I mixed in the ashes from Hestia's firepit.
Then after mixing the wax and ashes together, I carefully coated my wand in the mixture with a silk cloth before I left the divine mixed wax to dry out on the wand.
"Now to just let it dry, sand it down a bit. And it should... Should give my wand the tiny kick to actually fuck up a monster." I muttered thoughtfully.
As beyond this. Unless I decided to just wholesale make a whole new wand from divine materials like a Dryad or something with divinity itself. My Harry Potter magic without divine power and authority backing it.
Wa going to be basically useless against monsters and gods, especially.
Funny enough... My magic is certainly going to be just perfectly fine to use on Demi-gods on the other hand.
Either way I just relaxed for a bit before I tried to work on occumalancy. So that hopefully, hopefully I would be resistant to Charm Speak, and other forms of mind control/illusions.
Once my wand was dried however, I carefully sanded it down so that the waxy layer wasn't so thick and so it was smooth to the touch.
And with that I muttered. "Should I try to get a quest or make some drachma? I am not going to just sit around in Camp after all."
Well, at least I had no plans to just sit at camp... After all! I as a proud member of the Shadow Money Wizard Gang, needed my magic tower, obviously!
So with that I left my room where I saw Fredric talking to a rather attractive demi-goddess who was looking somewhat interested in his flirting.
"Dentes Engorgio!" I snapped as his eyes widened at seeing me.
A sharp white light shot from my wand, hitting him, and he staggered backwards with that woman pulling a dagger out from behind her as she looked at me warily.
"Thats for selling me out to that scary femme fatale," I said with a grin as he muffledly screamed at his two top front teeth grew like beaver teeth painlessly to hang past his chin and make his speaking difficult.
With that, I strolled out of the Hermes cabin with a skip to my step as I went to the cafeteria to find my cabin leader ,Luke for what I wanted to know.
Finding Luke wasn't hard as he was surrounded by some of his friends. And seeing me come over with intention he waved them down to pause the conversation and as I got to him I asked rather bluntly. "Luke, is there any way I can get to some monsters to practise some magic and get some materials?"
He blinked at my question before he nodded his head towards the outer forest of the camp before he said. "Yeah, Jake. Just head north, the camps barriers get weaker the further you go and weaker monsters like to try their luck as they sneak past the barrier's outer layer that is focused on foreign gods and such."
Then he cleared his throat before he said. "And you should look into finding some ways to get some drachma. It will change your life if you have enough of it."
What do you know? Money makes even the divine world go round...
But I could also tell he wasn't going to just give me the secrets to making all of the money so I just left with a mental note to find out if I could trick monsters into a NFT scheme or something.
After a bit more of thought, I just said. "Fuck it. I need to ask Chiron how to make money. I am completely new here, and I can tell people don't want to share how to make money."
As it was all too apparent that with the couple dozen odd people I had spoken to since arriving. No one had told me how to make money here.
So I went straight to the Big House, where I saw Chiron was just chilling in a chair with a large pot of what I assumed to be wine at his side. With a stupidly long sippy straw going from the wine jar to his mouth.
And seeing me approach, he pulled out the straw filled with dark liquid and said in amusement. "What happened, Jake. Did a child of Ares beat you up? Or did your own cabin mates steal from you already?"
My face twitched at his caring demeanor. He was clearly ready to hear me bitching about being bullied or something.
Still, I shook my head and said bluntly. "Nope, the one person to mess with me, I cursed him already. I was wondering how I can get a quest or otherwise make money in Drachma's to get supplies and blessings in the future."
Chiron was silent for a moment before he said with a sigh. "Jake, you haven't even been here for a full twenty-four hours yet, and you want to go on some quest? You need to make trustworthy friends before you even consider leaving camp on a camp, honestly."
He shook his head before he took a brief pause and then explained. "As for making money. Yes, quests ARE the best way to make money as most monsters well and away from the camp carry Drachma's to sustain themselves in the human world off of the divine energy coming from the celestial bronze forged coins. But as for in camp."
"You just... Get a job, Jake. Take up a shift in the camp store, help clean up trash from the beach with the naiads, help the dryads break down sticks on the ground, and spread fertilizer around their roots. There are plenty of jobs around Camp Halfblood if you ask around."
I just stared at Chiron for a long moment. Before I said flatly. "I need to... Get a job. What's next, will I need to pay taxes as well!?"
And without missing a beat Chiron said very firmly. "Yes of course, Jake. But the Olympians are graceful. First-year camp goers are exempt from labor or business taxes. Then for the next three years, it's only five percent of gross profits after earning more than ten thousand Drachmas."
I staggered in place, holding my chest as I whispered. "Oh my gods... Even the divines have an IRS?"
To which Chiron just blinked and said in confusion, "Ahh, the mortals IRS... No, we just have Heracles and his champions who come and break the knees of anyone who doesn't pay the Olympians their dues."
