Bloody Evolution Chapter 49 (Patreon)

Although Ruby had a bit of a 'girl next door' kinda vibe, that didn't change that she was a beautiful young woman. Though Summer coming in to check on us kept us from going any further than making out a bit.
Still, even with a confirmed relationship with Ruby, that didn't change things as for the next couple of days I was hard at work training with my 'Eye's of Purification' Which were on a completely different level compared to the Rose's eyes of petrification.
As the Rose family lineage went back millennia. Summer was very frank as she said that while the Rose bloodline, which was a line of all girls, could marry men who had a powerful light affinity to add some power to their eyes.
Each generation in which they did not marry a man with powerful light energy or ties to the God of Light would make the next generation's Silver Eyes weaker.
"Tsk, training your eyes is an expensive thing indeed." Summer drawled as I closed my eyes to cut off the wide spread beam of annihilation that disguised itself as 'purification' through holy light.
In order not to further fuck up their family's training yard and fields. Summer brought Ruby and me to a nearby forest, which was stocked with wild game hens and rabbits that the commoners working in the estate could capture every once in a while for free food.
"I am getting used to the cost and drain on these eyes thankfully." I said a bit sheepishly as I saw the wide expanse of blue sky in the distance from where I had made the tree line utterly disappear.
Summer gave a chuckle of agreement before she said rather bluntly. "Good, but don't use those eye's in training against other people Jake. Ruby and I can use just a little bit of our power to make someone's outer layer of skin into stone and they will be fine after just losing a layer that can regrow as the stone falls away."
And then Ruby said helplessly. "But if you add just a little bit too much power to your eyes, Jake... You will literally make an entire layer of skin abruptly be annihilated, and they could get like an infection."
I shrugged helplessly at that before I said happily. "Thankfully, I am only doing Fiora's swordsmanship classes in terms of combat training with other humans. So I won't be using my eyes anyway against people I am not already trying to kill."
Then I took a breath before I spoke again. "Anyway, so how is your own training in Beacon Ruby? I don't have you in too many of my classes as well."
Ruby shrugged and said easily. "I am of a Duke family. I keep my grades up, and I get along with my other noble heirs. Beacon is alright, I guess."
But in reality... I knew Ruby was also lonely in Beacon. As she wasn't as arrogant as alot of the noble shits I been avoiding since day one of entry into Beacon.
That and a lot of the noble heirs weren't stupid. With Lux as my teacher, and my ability to make fortified positions outside of the protection of Vale's walls. I was already a very valuable asset for Vale.
"Hmm, and how about you Jake? Have you made many friends in Beacon besides Ruby?" Summer asked casually as she sipped from a margarita glass, she was dipping chocolate-covered strawberries into.
I nodded and said easily. "Yeah, I got a pretty good social circle. I mostly hang out with Morgan Arc's family. But I do got a good number of other friends."
Which reminded me that I needed to spend more time with Weiss and Pyrrha. Bullying Weiss about her belly button complex needed to happen again. And of course, Pyrrha was just an adorable mess at times, needing snuggles that I was more than willing to give.
'Hmm, both Ruby and Yang have been avoiding one another since that fight at the start of the year actually... I wonder if I should even get involved in that mess? I don't think this is a fence I can mend at all.' I thought helplessly.
Then the conversation changed to our thoughts on Elemental magic with both Ruby and Summer both favoring wind and lightning to enhance their speed and lethality levels.
While I, with my Essence of the Admiral, obviously had an innately overwhelming water affinity. Though I had been branching out into ice magic as well due to the cultivation inheritance, I got being more on the ice side of things.
"Anyway, so Summer, do you plan to take Ruby out on less dangerous Grimm clearing missions or anything?" I asked as I recalled the bounty boards and such. Where nobles would send Beacon requests and pay for students to come do general purges around their territory.
Summer paused at my question, and I added thoughtfully. "Honestly, I need to go do some Grimm clearing missions as well for training. Ever since I had that damned Class trial, I been studying in Beacon and only really got to kill some Grimm during the skirmishes when Mistral agents were trying to kidnap me and the people I was supposed to protect."
Ruby, on the other hand, perked up and said with a pout. "Hey! You also need to take Miss Goodwitch to let me on your team as well for the next school event! It's not fair she banned me from getting on a team with you specifically!"
I coudn't help but chuckle as with us both having the silver eyes it did make sense for us to work together anyway.
Then Summer chuckled and said easily. "Hmm, I could easily sign up to be an escort for a mission for your team, Jake. You are already known for having formed a retinue of actually skilled future warriors, in any case."
And then Summer added with a teasing giggle. "And of course. Little Ruby here would obviously be joining that team as we go out to do a mission. Though you shoudn't take... Your entire team, as it were, otherwise your school credit will be thinned out."
I nodded as that was a fair point... Plus if I bringed all my ship girls as well as my ghost ship on the trip. What the hell would Ruby and I, and everyone else, get to do when the shipgirls and the ship itself would blow everything else up!
"Alright, you two. Let's get going back inside. All this running around has me getting hot. I am going straight back to the pool, and I am going to bring a projector into the pool room so I can watch a movie if you both want to join." Summer said as she headed back towards the go-cart that brought us out here.
Ruby and I shared a look, and Ruby hurriedly nodded with a weird flush crossing her face as she said excitedly. "Yes! That sounds awesome!"
