Hello awesome Patreon Supporters and friends. I'm very excited to share Foundry VTT Beta 0.3.9 with you. A lot of work has gone into this update, with 74 issues closed, I'm really proud of the additions that 0.3.9 brings to the Foundry VTT environment. Moreover, the whole update was wrapped up in 2 weeks, so I'm very pleased with the timelines as well. There are a number of big features in this update, some of the key highlights include the addition of Rollable Tables as a new Entity type, an expansion of the lighting system to allow for Color Tinting of Ambient Lights, an comprehensive overhaul of organizational tools to allow for manual sorting of Folders and Entities, and a robust array of bugfixes and API improvements.

Sorry for the delay in fixing the issues, I've had trouble finding time. But I should be able to push the update + fixes tomorrow (Friday).

I have unlocked the `0.3.9` update for all Beta supporters. Please see the pinned message in this channel for more details. If you have not updated yet, please be aware of the following, as there are some disruptive changes in this beta version. **Please Be Aware:** 1. If you are using SSL certificates with foundry VTT, a change in 0.3.9 enforces the assumption that sslKey and sslCert are provided as relative paths. This caused an unintended regression for people who were using absolute paths before, so you will need to update. I'll make this better in 0.4.0. 2. There were a number of API changes in 0.3.9 - not all modules and systems have updated to support these changes yet. If you depend on a game system other than D&D5e or view certain modules as non-negotiable - you may want to hold off on taking this update until you have confirmed with the authors that everything is ready to go. As always - back up your worlds, and please report any issues you encounter so I can prioritize fixes for 0.4.0. Thanks for your understanding during the beta testing process, for your feedback, and for your support.

So I cant seem to find the reccommended system requirements for the VTT software, I understand that the players all just access via a web browser, but the software seems to run slowly on my main computer... what are your reccommended settings?

foundryvtt

It's hard to give a general recommendation, because performance depends on a large number of factors. 1. Whether you are using the Electron app or hosting just the server via Node.js 2. The complexity of your Scenes and the assets they include 3. The network speed of your upload bandwidth for distributing assets to players. 4. The number of add-on modules you use, each of which can add additional computation and logic. I don't want to dodge the question, but it's difficult to answer. Some folks host FVTT successfully on a Raspberry Pi or Digital Ocean droplet - others can push the software to a degree it doesn't feel great even on a beefy gaming PC. If you're experiencing performance that isn't as good as you'd like, it's probably due to the complexity of your scenes and dynamic lighting. Check your wall count, if it's in the thousands reducing the number of wall segments can help a lot. You can also disable "Soft Shadows" in the options menu which simplifies the sight rendering.

If it's easy to provide, can you point me towards instructions to run FoundryVTT with Let's Encrypt? It's plain HTTP now, I'd like to see how easy it is to move it over. We have two campaigns on "leading VTT in their last quarter, when those wrap up, I'll suggest Foundry to DM J. , and I know for myself, I'll switch over and learn Foundry.

I've got a couple players on laptops that are below the min resolution, is that something that is going to be addressed in the future?

foundryvtt

Hey Dan, there isn't a formal minimum resolution, and I've been working to add scrollbars to most things. That being said the user experience might not be great for them. Do you know what resolution they use, by any chance? Improving the application UX for small devices is something that will be tackled eventually, but to be frank it's a lower priority than some other features which I view as more critical. I don't have a concrete timeline on this, but further attention to the experience of small-screen users will likely not happen until sometime after February of next year.

Dan Walker

Apparently they get a repeat pop-up about their resolution since the last patch, I haven't tried it myself to see what's triggering it though. The biggest problem is we use a character sheet module and the bottom is cut off and won't scroll.

foundryvtt

Interesting - that isn't a message I am generating, so I wonder what is causing it. If you could manage to get a screenshot of this pop-up that is appearing it would be valuable.
