Upcoming Videos: Scutoid September (Patreon)

Hello every human who is here!

Remember Scutoids?

I’ve been hard at work preparing for Scutoid September.

Yes, six years later, it’s finally happening.

Many of you have been around that long, and may remember the plans for a scutoid papercraft with instructional video that was going to happen just after I took a vacation, stopped working nights and weekends, and finished up a contract I was working on. Some of you were even involved in building and testing scutoids.

Instead, that contract turned into a day job, I never stopped working nights and weekends, and the scutoids went into a box.

Well, I’m no longer working that day job, I’ve finally had a sufficiently long vacation, and somehow y'all are still around, so the scutoids are coming out of the box!

The Videos

The first video, a short little re-introduction to scutoids, is already edited and ready to post aside from a few bits of polish I want to add. I’m currently aiming for posting on the 5th, after I’m home from some travels.

The second video is hands-on papercraft instructions, and that one’s already got enough work done for it that I’m pretty confident about it coming out the second week of September (aiming for the 12th).

I’ve also got a draft script for a third video that’s a bit longer and goes a bit deeper, but it definitely needs at least a couple weeks of work, so I don’t want to make any hard promises at this point. I like to dream I’ll get all that done plus other ideas, but even if it’s just a 2-video scutoid party it’s still gonna be a good little scutoid party.

Patreon Business

It’s been a while since I’ve posted here or collected Patreon money, and even longer since I’ve posted anything explicitly math educationy, so I wanted to make sure you’ve got a heads up that this Patreon page will be charging on September 1st (if you’re signed up for that) for the two videos I’ve already done most of the work on. If I’m able to get a significant amount more done in September, I’ll also charge Oct 1st.

As always, if for any reason anything has changed in your life that makes it make more sense for you to unpatreon, please do that, no questions asked. Stuff changes sometimes, and it’s been a while.

There’s probably other things I should think about regarding patreon and youtube and life but I can’t think about two things at once, I can only think about scutoids

🐌,
