Welcome, early adopters. Here is your inspirational dog poster, for helping invent the future. Or at least my future.

New post on vihart.com about the eclipse: http://vihart.com/totality/

Did you see the eclipse? Did you have thoughts? A lot of people had thoughts and experiences, but before we could really share, there were a million natural disasters in a row.

I'm still figuring out this Patreon thing. Any comments or suggestions would be appreciated!

Who is this dog? Is she a good dog? Find out next time, maybe!

Seems like you're Patreoning fine to me

I would say that one of the most important things is to not be ashamed about asking for people to support your work. Obviously you don't want to be a jerk about it, but we are your fans and we really appreciate what you do. Hexaflexagons FTW! So supporting you is something that we naturally want to do; by putting up a Patreon you're providing an opportunity for us to do that.

You're doing great. If you have any ideas that require mundane work, participants, or research subjects, I and 2 of my kids would be happy to contribute. I am sure others would as well.

Thanks! I'll feel like I'm Patreoning fine when I can pay my bills... but I suppose these things don't happen instantly. I think I can get there in time.

This is definitely something I need to hear. It's not fun having to admit that my work isn't valued by traditional means and I need help.

vihart

Hey, that's something I hadn't thought of! I'll keep my eye out for special projects that can use helpers :D

Oh yeah! Being able to participate in projects sound fun! And a great way to get Patrons engaged while supporting your work at the same time. Hope it all works out!

Abhayakara

Not to put too fine a point on it, but if your work were valued by traditional means, it might be a lot less interesting. It would be amazing if you could find the support to do precisely what your muse tells you here. I've seen it happen for a number of people, so I mean amazing in the "wouldn't it be great" sense, not in the "I would be astonished" sense.

I am happy to support you! I hope you find stability soon. :)
