Looking better in there! I'm a bit short/out of date on equipment but this will get me started as we ramp up the crowdfunding. I'm very happy to have been able to keep my old work MacBook and big fancy monitors, which make editing video such a pleasure!Maybe next weekend I'll take some time to spruce up the place and add some personality, but for now, it's off to work.

Love the fact you sit on a piano bench to do computer work!

vihart

It's easier to sit cross-legged, or otherwise in non-chair-like positions! It's an adjustable standing desk which is awesome too. I'm trying to live a post-sitting life where I can. Though the real reason is that I just don't own enough chairs to go around...

vihart

Definitely not! Béla is a real piano, the most lovely and beautiful piano in the universe. But gotta have a studio keyboard too, being a Mathemusician and all. Her name is Bertha Bettina.

My recording studio is similar and I got a lot of echo, so I put up foam on the walls with double sided tape. Not all over, but in irregular patches. Looks weird, but makes it sound less like recording in a bathroom.

Bertha Bettina! So nice to see you! ;D

<jealous> I have a fancy chair at work, probably cost a thousand dollars. But I end up sitting in lots of strange positions so I can change things up during the day. Need a standing desk!!!!!!!!</jealous>

Looking great :) Maybe some big wowen fractal images on the walls for both the looks, and some dampening of sound reflection?

I've loved Patreon a good while now. I got excited Friday when i got a notification on my cell of a post on your Youtube acct. THAT'S when you announced that you were on Patreon! So maybe THROW ANOTHER YOUTUBE AD UP ON YOUTUBE IN CASE YOU MISSED ANYONE! oops--getting too excited about you having patrons on Patreon who will gladly pay you for your grand work. I say give us some of your old videos here that are still just as important today. I've seen them but many haven't. (also i need a refresher course on why Pi is not infinite AT ALL ! (That creepy Pi) (why don't we have a symbol of Pi on our computer??) I'll bet YOU do--cuz yer the Math Whizz on Patreon NOW! People who don't know you but are becoming Patrons are going to be in for a treat.

BTW, You are an Artists and you are not really crowdfunding a big bunch of money for ONE project. Instead, we as patrons, are pledging a small amount each month for you to continue your good work. I'm a playwright so I know how important 'patrons' are. Well crap I'm sounding like a know it all and that's not me at all. I'm just a guy expressing a lot of emotion for the arts and you as an artist. As you see, you are succeeding and that is very exciting. But, Vi, have you noticed we can hear people say Numbers on the phone with no problems, but it's impossible to hear Letters so we are going back to military talk--Foxtrot, Charley, yada yada Why is that, Math Whiz Patreon Lady? :)

Danyel Cavazos

Vihart I'm really happy for you :). I know it's not much, but I do science graphic design (vector based) as a hobby. If you ever need any of that for a paper, publication or just an enthusiast effort, let me know :B

Consider putting equipment that you need on an Amazon wish list. Different people connect in different ways. A Patreon pledge is one way. Funding a specific item is another.

vihart

A couple people have mentioned this! I know Amazon has had some privacy/anonymity problems but I've been doing some research on how to set it up safely and I might have a plan.

vihart

The letters vs numbers thing is an interesting question! I'd guess because letters represent phonetic sounds and we foolishly tried to abstract away the non-letter noises in their names by making them almost all rhyme with each other. Whereas numbers are normal words for abstract concepts so each number name is just a name, not a concrete representation. Something like that.

vihart

if every letter had a completely abstracted name that didn't have to do with its literal sound, like W, problem solved.

i like how you keep updating us. makes me connect to you even more.
