He’s gotta shoot his shot. He’s doubted if Jimin likes him back for ages now, and in the end he’d always brush it off because there was no way they could go against the contract anyway.

But now that the contract has changed, and they’re free to date each other, he’s dying to know what Jimin thinks. The thing is though, Jimin signed the contract and hasn’t really said anything about it, he’s been his normal usual self.

That’s why Jungkook gathers the courage to ask if Jimin even read the contract. Which he didn’t, just signed it after everyone signed it, thinking it was fine. So when Jungkook pushes the boring subject, Jimin gets suspicious of why he’s so interested in the new contract, and then goes to get it for him.

This is bad. He doesn’t want Jimin to read the contract out loud right next to him, because the house is made of glass. One look and Jimin will probably know he’s..

”Hyung, please.”

He says nervously, but Jimin is in his silly goofy mood that’s impossible to get him out of, so Jungkook just endures it. For over an hour, Jimin is making sure to go through every detail, making Jungkook roll his eyes and sigh and groan every now and then.

Jimin clears his throat then.

“Term 42: Dating and Relationships.”

Oh fuck, here it is.

“One is allowed to date/have a relationship under strict supervision of the company. Under no circumstance can someone’s partner be revealed to the public yadayadayada- dating idols of other companies is allowed only if by contract- yes yes, we know that too- dating idols of the same company or group is allowed only if professionalism comes first-“

Jimin stops talking, eyes moving rapidly over those sentences. Jungkook feels his cheeks burn up, body going rigid on the couch as he takes in Jimin’s reaction. Apart from shock, he can’t really read any other facial expression, so he just waits in anticipation until Jimin reads over it again.

”.. dating idols of the same company or group is allowed only if professionalism comes first, under strict supervision of the company.”

Jimin finishes, accentuating every word.

Jungkook bites on his inner cheek, watches Jimin blink in confusion, wonders what’s going on inside his head. If he’s just as happy, just as excited. But instead, Jimin’s eyebrows furrow like something is wrong, and then he looks at him.

Shit, he has to say something.

”Yeah, that’s- that’s new.”

He says, turns his head away, fumbles with the pillows on the couch. He’s made of glass really, Jimin probably has him figured out entirely.

Jungkook hears him flip the page, this time Jimin stays silent while reading, and Jungkook bites on his lower lip, impatiently waiting for any type of reaction. It gets so tense that he feels the need to fill up the silence.

“Namjoon, Jin and Yoongi-hyung actually.. uh.. made some of the requests. You know, since we’ve all matured.”

“Ah..”

Jimin nods.

Ah? That’s it? That’s all he’s got to work with? Jungkook bites his lip, pushes himself to say more.

“Yeah.. interesting, right?”

He doesn’t dare to look at Jimin.

“Very.”

Jimin says softly. And then it’s silent.

For a long while, Jungkook can only listen to his own heartbeat, his own laboured breathing. He stares at the tv blankly, doesn’t process anything but Jimin’s warmth next to him. It’s overwhelming, he just wants to be closer. They can be closer, they’re allowed to be closer.

His hand touches Jimin’s under the covers. He’s not sure if that was an accident or not, or if he subconsciously moved his hand to find Jimin’s. Either way, Jimin tenses up next to him, hand twitching against his own.

Jungkook waits, waits for Jimin to pull away but he doesn’t. He leaves their hands like that. Which means he doesn’t mind, right? If Jimin leaves his hand like this, it’s basically an invitation, right?

He swallows, heat flaring up his neck as he softly grazes Jimin’s finger. There’s no reaction but for Jimin’s breath hitching slightly. Jungkook is so nervous he could combust, but as Jimin doesn’t stop him, he decides he can take it up a notch.

He lets his hand slide into Jimin’s, intertwines their fingers slowly as he keeps his eyes on the screen. His heartbeat is through the roof when he’s finally reached his goal. Holding hands. They’re holding hands. Finally.

Jungkook wonders if he should say something, but he can’t open his mouth. So they just keep sitting there, watching the screen, not saying a word. Jimin doesn’t move at all, Jungkook isn’t sure if he’s even blinked since their hands touched. But he doesn’t dare to look.

He just sits there, giddy feeling in his body, knowing he’s gonna sleep good tonight. He can’t help it when he slowly caresses over Jimin’s hand with his thumb, needs to channel that feeling somehow.

Jimin doesn’t respond to it, but that’s okay, because Jungkook can feel how warm Jimin’s hand is, almost like it’s tingling against his own.

Neither of them say a word. Eyes focused on the screen but all consciousness is in their hands.

It feels like hours when Jimin slowly caresses over his knuckles, making Jungkook’s heart skip a beat. His eyes widen slightly, and he caresses Jimin’s hand as well, eager to return the gesture.

They sit like that, not saying a word, for hours. 

Until they both fall asleep
