This is super late but yeah the writer Hajime Isayama had a full idea of what the ending of the series was going to be from the beginning. Watching it for a second time I caught a lot of things I didn't the first time. Seriously a 10/10 story.

Many writers of today make up the story as it goes on, and as a result we have many mediocre stories. A story is supposed to be written from beginning to end. The fact that this is not the norm is pretty shameful.
