When Brain did the potions and Ability boosts he briefly surpasses Gazef in levels but that effort would have killed him if Cocytus didn't. Yes the walk around Brain was to honor his defense of that street. Cocytus just by waking around lowers the temperature down to lethality near him so he's killing everyone as he walks by. Interesting how easily Renner handled that heavy sword, hmmm...
