The God of Asura didn’t care about Tang San’s mental health or anything like that—what mattered to him was whether Tang San was still of any use.
Borrowing the body of the Killing God, Asura looked at Tang San. He could feel his Asura Demon Sword trembling faintly in his grip, eager to chop off Tang San’s head right then and there.
But every time he thought about how much he had already invested in this plan and how there was no turning back, Asura had to suppress his murderous impulses again and again.
Now, Tang San was completely consumed by bloodlust, almost devoid of reason. When he saw an unknown presence appear at the cave entrance, his first reaction wasn’t surprise or fear, but an instinctive surge of killing intent.
His Blue Silver Grass shot out like spider legs, stabbing toward God of Killing's body. Tang San’s eyes were filled with bloodthirst as if he longed to see this newcomer pierced and turned into his next sacrifice.
“Get lost!”
God of Killing didn’t bother to hide his malice. With a single slap, he not only shredded the Blue Silver Grass but also sent Tang San flying into the wall, knocking him out cold.
“Master, why keep such a person alive? Wouldn’t it be easier to just kill him?”
God of Killing complained to Asura inwardly.
He knew he wasn’t a good person, but after being an enforcer in the Divine Realm for so long, he couldn’t help but feel murderous when facing someone like Tang San.
His loyalty to Asura was beyond question, but that didn’t mean he couldn’t think for himself or wonder why.
Asura was silent for a moment, unsure how to answer. After all, in his eyes, Tang San was pretty much beyond saving at this point. But as always, he’d invested too much in Tang San to just give up.
At this point, it wasn’t a matter of whether he was leading Tang San or not—he was being dragged along by Tang San, like it or not.
“It’s all according to plan,” Asura said, sounding deep and mysterious, though he was just forcing himself to go through the motions.
“His condition is terrible, but his strength is intact. That’s what matters most.”
“. . .?” God of Killing hesitated, not knowing how to reply.
“Besides, he can’t stay outside like this anyway. Use this chance to bring him into Slaughter City. Let him grow there, and personally train and correct him.”
Asura ordered God of Killing.
“Clean up all traces here. Take away anyone who’s still alive—they’re still useful.”
“Yes.”
God of Killing glanced at the corpses on the ground in disgust. With a burst of soul power, he turned the bodies into a mist of blood and reached out to crush the skulls—only to be stopped by Asura.
“Leave the skulls. They might be useful in the future.”
Thinking of the numbers in the Clear Sky Sect, Asura considered that there might be other ways to make up for things down the line.
Thus, under God of Killing’s intervention, Tang San, Dai Mubai, Yu Tianheng, Tang Xiao, and Tang Chen were all packaged and taken to Slaughter City. Using the city’s unique environment, Asura quietly infused some divine power to begin twisting their states.
Tang San’s mental state was dire; his soul was intact, but his mind was chaotic. Asura wasn’t a god of emotions and wasn’t skilled in this area, so he could only be rough.
He reinforced Tang San’s memories of Tang Sect from his previous life, then damaged parts of Tang San’s mind to reduce his aggression and make him more introverted.
As for Tang San’s vast, muddled soul power, Asura sealed it up, intending for Tang San to absorb it bit by bit.
But through this deep inspection, Asura found that Tang San’s internal condition was grim. Currently, the Man-Faced Demon Spider bloodline accounted for over a third, Blue Silver Grass another third, and the human bloodline less than a third.
Put simply, if the old Tang San was a perfect fusion of human and soul beast, the current Tang San was a pure hybrid—like a wolftaken born of a Gale Demon Wolf, sitting at the same table.
If not for his twin martial souls being stabilized through years of awakening, with his current bloodline, Tang San wouldn’t even be able to awaken a martial soul again.
After dealing with Tang San, Asura handled the others. Tang Xiao, petrified, was slowly unsealed in Slaughter City. Tang Chen was thrown into the blood pool for restoration. Dai Mubai and Yu Tianheng, due to their special martial souls, were infused with extra power to guide their martial souls toward a bloodier transformation.
The White Tiger soul had always had a killing side—the Star Luo royal family’s version was just a degenerated form. The Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon martial soul was highly adaptable and mutated easily, all of which could be exploited.
Asura no longer expected Tang San’s companions to be his helpers—instead, he hoped they’d help share Tang San’s negative power.
Nourished by Asura’s power, Tang San slowly awoke, feeling emptiness in his mind, as if something was missing.
It was as if he’d just dreamed of the Tang Sect from his previous life, and upon waking, he felt an unnatural calm inside.
He looked up and saw a blood-red figure kneeling with its back to him, worshipping a blood-colored demon sword. The moment Tang San’s gaze met the sword, he saw, through it, a towering blood-red figure standing proudly in the sky.
Shock, fear, awe, jealousy...
Tang San was instantly overwhelmed by emotion, his body trembling. It took a long time before he could regain his ability to think.
When he looked up again, the kneeling figure was now standing before him, gazing at him as if looking at trash.
“I am the God of Killing, chief executor under the God of Asura.”
Murderous intent filled the air, stimulating Tang San’s mind. God of Killing’s face was calm, but his eyes were full of undisguised disgust.
“This is Slaughter City, the trial ground of the God of Asura.”
