With the god realm’s chaos, non-native beings either left or were exiled.

Those with Douluo blood, after the world’s restrictions, mostly left too, giving up soul power cultivation.

Only a few deeply rooted or fully adapted ones stayed, becoming true Douluo natives.

After most left, the god realm cut off Douluo to stabilize itself, letting the world develop.

Thus, the soul master and soul tool systems emerged. Humans and soul beasts went from kin to enemies as soul rings and laws forced them apart.

With each generation, martial souls diversified: beast, tool, and body martial souls appeared, and humans began wars with soul beasts.

Ancient Douluo humans were stronger than today’s. They had advanced tech, strong blood, full systems, and could hunt soul beasts for rings.

Back then, many true dragons and sub-dragons lived, though not gods, with cultivation equal to hundred- or two-hundred-thousand-year beasts, but in this era, humans killed many.

After failed attempts at peace, soul beasts fought back. Silver Dragon King led many beasts to attack human lands, to wipe out the traitorous humans.

Asura God, as an enforcer, noticed, and for faith and duty, helped humans.

But then he discovered the Dragon God’s leftover power in Douluo, which only hybrid humans could access. It was stored in the Golden Ancient Tree, then controlled by humans.

To seize it, Asura God betrayed humans at the key moment, destroyed their technology and knowledge bearers, and crushed the soul tool civilization. He let soul beasts nearly wipe humans out—hoping to force his chosen pawn to appear.

The earliest records of the Silver Dragon, and of gods, come from that time, passed down by survivors. Stories of golden and silver dragons and the Dragon God were originally left by Asura God.

But over time and with interference, the real history became countless myths.

Even the Angel God grew up on these stories but found no useful truth due to the confusion.

Asura God knows exactly how the world got this way and why soul tool civilization fell.

If he hadn’t helped soul beasts destroy human legacy and used the world’s rules to suppress Douluo, it would have reached the interstellar age by now.

He mastered soul tool tech, and as a god, could fully understand the ancient knowledge.

Examining the shield, he found a serious problem: this soul tool wasn’t an antique but was made in the last few decades, and its core arrays came from the destroyed civilization.

Unless two civilizations independently invented identical tech—a tiny chance—this means the old era left a legacy.

Two big questions troubled him:

Where is the original Vast Sea Cosmic Shroud?

Why does soul tool tech survive, and how much did these inheritors keep? Do they know about him or the Dragon God’s legacy? Is the shield’s disappearance related?

If the worst, they survived in hiding and have developed soul tool tech for thousands of years—how advanced are they now?

Asura God, using Tang Chen’s body, pocketed the shield, glanced at the collapsed Xue Ye, and barely resisted smashing him flat out of anger. He tweaked Tang Chen’s mind, and then let him regain consciousness.

Tang Chen shook his head, trying to recall how he’d gotten the information.

“Wait, what was I thinking? I forgot—I got the clue from an evil soul master while under control in Slaughter City.”

Tang Chen helped up the limp Xue Ye and smiled.

“Emperor Xue Ye, since I have what I want, I won’t break my word. I’ll help you expose Spirit Hall’s plot and punish the fake crown prince.”

“Th-thank you, Clear Sky Douluo.”

If Xue Ye were a rare, roaring groundhog, able to turn his inner rage into a deadly shout, he’d want to see if he could shout Tang Chen to death.

But, alas, he was just a Swan Martial Soul Soul Ancestor, a weakling who could be crushed by a Titled Douluo’s fart, so he just smiled obsequiously, like the emperor’s head eunuch, not the emperor himself.

Usually, if Spirit Hall usurped the throne, Xue Ye would just curse them. But after Tang Chen’s threats, he suddenly saw Spirit Hall in a new light.

At least they play by the same rules, even if they cheat.

Cheating at chess is shameless, but better than flipping the board and killing the opponent.

Now, Xue Ye’s greatest hope is for Spirit Hall to realize what's happening, for Qian Daoliu to swoop in and kill Tang Chen. Second best is for the two of them to destroy each other.

Humiliated, Xue Ye respectfully led Tang Chen out of the treasury.

…

Half a day later, after confirming nothing was wrong, Qian Renxue sneaked in with the help of Spirit Hall space masters, and, seeing all the treasures, smiled an un-angelic smile.

Her space bags, specially made by Chen Ming, each held hundreds of cubic meters.

Even so, after she packed up, the nine giant bags were almost full. Except for the floor and wall tiles (which she suspected hid more treasures), everything was taken.

She left some for Chen Ming, as payment for intercepting Asura God.

How did the Angel God comment on her actions?

“You’re too rough! Use spiritual sense—under the floor tiles at the upper right is pure gold. Behind the left wall is a hundred-thousand-year soul beast skeleton. That broken oil lamp on the shelf? The oil is real dragon corpse oil—don’t just light it!”

“You’re so unprofessional! In our era, this would be disgraceful for the Angel lineage!”

“If a wild goose flies over my sky, the goose is mine. If a soul beast runs past, it’s my dinner. You don’t have to use everything, but you can’t have nothing!”

“Do your best, stockpile everything, always be prepared!”

Far from scolding, the Angel God only regretted she couldn’t possess Qian Renxue and do it herself.

The Angel God wasn’t a rigid good person—when it was time to kill and loot, she never hesitated. She’d stolen from dragon hoards often.

If anything, she could be the ancestor of all thieves on Douluo.

After seeing how the Empire and its nobles are, the Angel God lost all sympathy for them—taking their treasures was only right.

She’s a good person, an ancient one, but not blindly old-fashioned.

Under the Angel God’s guidance, Qian Renxue pried up tiles and wall panels, took the hidden treasures, smashed worthless things, and staged the scene to make it look like Tang Chen had found hidden loot.

No one—Xue Ye, Tang Chen, or the Asura God—would guess someone was playing them all for fools.

Given Clear Sky Sect’s current infamy, even the sect’s people would believe Tang Chen looted the treasury.

The Heaven Dou Empire’s millennia of accumulation can't match Spirit Hall’s ten thousand years, but since Spirit Hall uses its treasures, only some soul bones could match this haul.
