In my opinion about canute. I think he has always has the ideas and thoughts about the world it's just that he thinks that he can't talk about it due to his faith maybe idk. But now that he thinks that there's no love in humanity, he needs to do what needs to be done

What the priest and Canute were getting at is that love is unbiased and natural. Like how in Christianity Jesus turns the other cheek and feels no hatred or animosity towards others, even the people who crucified him, and the "love thy neighbor" principle. That's also why we has excited to hear about Thors beforehand, where even though Thors was fighting for his life against an enemy that wanted to kill him he still showed them mercy by not killing a single one and saying that a true warrior doesn't need a sword. To him love is peace. That's why he says Ragnar's feelings are discrimination, because he doesn't believe humans are capable of love (which would be peacefully coexisting with everyone else and nature and not fighting/killing/stealing/power grabbing).
