Hi friends!

If this is your first time downloading sims in sims 4, here's a detailed guide for you to make things easier :) Please take a minute to read through before installing!

Disclaimer: I do not upload any of the sims on my Patreon to my EA gallery.

TL;DR scroll down to troubleshoot if you're experiencing issues after installation!

Notes/recommendations:

Always make sure to make a backup folder of your Documents>Electric Arts>The Sims 4> Tray, Mods, Saves folders before you install any new content from any creators. This is just a way to ensure your saves are always safe, and easier to locate which newly mods/custom content might be causing any clashes after installation/updates.

Optional but Sims 4 Tray Importer is a recommended application for locating broken ccs in your game!

Make sure you have enabled custom content in Settings! If not, please do and restart the game before placing the household.

Read the installation instructions under my posts carefully and download required mods, CC links that were included in the txt file (if there's any).

If you have installed any of my previous sims, put all the package files from CCs in one subfolder, name it the name of the sim, before moving it to your Mods folder.

Installation steps:

Once you download any zip file that is attached to my post, upzip the file by double clicking it. (or use a third party app, i.e. Keka/7zip app is recommended). Open the unzipped folder, you shall see 'CCs' and 'Tray' subfolders.

Place the package files in 'CCs' to Documents>Electric Arts>The Sims 4>Mods. Please do not place the entire CC folder in yours cause custom content would not appear in CAS.

Select and move all the tray files to Documents>Electric Arts>The Sims 4>Tray. Please DO NOT place the entire 'Tray' folder in yours cause it would not work.

How to locate the downloaded sim in your game:

Start your game.

Settings>Enabled Custom content, script mods. Restart the game if these were not enabled.

Head to Gallery under New game.

Go to 'My Library' on top of your screen.

On the left side of your gallery manual. Toggle:

View content by: Others

Advanced: 'Include Custom Content'

Sort by: 'Newest'

Category: 'Household'

Toggle Item name on the search bar and type the name of the sim and enter. The sim should pop up.

You can also toggle EA Account ID and type 'sourgrapesims' to locate any of my sims you just downloaded.

Once you have located the sim, start a new game or load game to enter CAS. Go to gallery and repeat the same steps from above. Place household in CAS and enjoy!

Q: I downloaded your love and deepspace sims, why are some of their ccs missing?

Since I shared the sims obeying the custom content creator's terms of use, (i.e. No reuploading/putting their ccs behind paywalls) and therefore you will need to download the ccs with the links listed in the 'readme.txt' file, as well as manually placing them in your mods folder.

Q: Why does my toddler sim looks like this?

Keep only ONE slider folder in your mods.

Everytime when you download a new sim, copy slider package files and paste to your slider folder and ensure there is only one copy of each slider package file, as duplicates will distort the facial features in toddler sims, sometimes in teens - elder sims too!

You can download Sims 4 mod manager to keep track of duplicate cc/mods you have installed in your game and delete them on the app!

Q: Why does my sim looks different from your previews?

I do not use any graphic enhancers, if you have reshade or Gshade presets in your game, this might be the reason. If there are obvious skin overlay/texture issues, please keep reading.

If your game includes these following file names in your mods folder, it might cause the eyebrows/eyes to look different:

mini presets

dreamlike

333 juvenile eyes

You can look up these key words in your mods folder, remove these ccs from your mods folder to see if the issue persist.

Some of my sims used a broken SeokJji facial skin mask and might cause some sims missing a facial overlay, please download from this simsfileshare link for all the repaired versions (seokJji_01-04) and replace the old package files. Go to CAS > tap on sim > Face> skin details > locate the Seokjji 01/02/03 thumbnail and apply ONE manually on the sim, and it should be fixed!

The thumbnail is as follows:

If your sim has transparent squares appearing on them, make sure you have all your mods and ccs updated (especially body presets). I would recommend keeping tabs on your most frequent used mods and ccs' creator's page, especially when EA announced an in-game update to keep your mods current.

If you install any functional mods that changes the sims' appearance in play-mode, sometimes it might override an existing facial paint/eye preset I had on the sim until the moodlet disappear. Listed are the mod(s) that clash with face paint category in game mode and might cause the sim to temporary having their eye contacts disaapear:

Q: I don't like some of the body details, where can I locate them?

Body: You can do so by going into the tattoos/body scar section when tapping on the body of the sim.

Facial: You can do so by clicking on the sim's face > face > skin detail as well as any makeup category to change or remove them. However I do not recommend removing all skin details.

Thanks so much for your support <3 Hope you found this helpful and please feel free to comment if you need any help 🤍
