I moved from the PNW to St Louis this past October and the cicadas have been...a surprise...to say the least. They crack me up cuz they just seem so distraught all the time. This picture is perfectly accurate for sure!

We don't have any bugs or frogs louder than crickets here, but the raccoons and the coyotes are making up for that.

Living in southwest Japan, the screambugs here make the ones back in Missouri seem sedate. They've just pretty much died off for the year, but once in awhile I still hear one poor guy.

You just need to find a place with tree frogs and ... well, that won't work as easily right now with the droughts and fires and climate change but they DID have a tendency to make constant noise.
