Recently revisited some old art for the new Volume 1 book.I included the original art here just for fun (although it makes me cringe into a tiny ball like a mortified pill bug). It was actually one of the very first Lackadaisy pieces I did.

He's gloriously beautiful 💜💜

Rob

The second one is definitely not cringeworthy by any standards. It's got a real warmth to it! No pun intended

Terry

Gotta love Rocky 😂

Eioghorain My Heart

I love the original piece; it's got beautiful colors and textures and stylization; it has long been, and always will be, one of my favorite single shots you've done. And recreating it is still one of my all-time favorite Halloween pumpkin carvings I have done. Please don't cringe at it. ♡♡♡

Doscher

In many ways I prefer the original.

Blue owl

Both amazing.

Wil Marrow

Wow thats so cool looking for all the ways your art changed.

Maureen Albertson

It's cool though, to see the change in art style over time

Boaty McBoatface

I'm a very critical person so believe me when I say I can't find anything wrong with either. I think I actually prefer the original, though both are incredible in their own way.

D. Alfonso

I like them both!! Thanks for sharing them with us.

akrasia

I'd sacrifice body parts for the ability to do your "cringeworthy" art. So jealous...

Silly Mystery

OH MY GOD THIS IS SO AMAZING. I AM ADORING THIS PIECE SO MUCH i remember seeing the original for the first time a few yrs ago wow haha time flies ^^

Maddie St Esprit

I love seeing the growth and natural development of your style! And look how exaggerated it is!!! Iloved the original, but I also really like your remix of it! Well done!

2026-09-08 00:00 I get such a nostalgia punch seeing the OG version <3 I originally found Lackadaisy about a decade ago and was absolutely in awe both of the then-current pages of the comic and the early concept art. Seeing how your style has evolved over the years is so cool! The original is still great but the updated version shows how much your skills in character design, line, color, silhouette, etc have improved. Fantastic stuff as always :D

Haha...putting the new Volume 1 book together has been a bit of a nostalgia punch in itself. I've been digging through a lot of old art and while it does make me wince quite a bit, it's also a good reminder that some artistic growth has taken place. Anyway, thank you for your kind words!

Tracy Butler

Apologies. I wasn't meaning to take jabs at anyone else's spot on what is invariably a long, bumpy path toward improvement, if you so happen to be there somewhere. As the artist, though, it's easy to lose sight of the bigger picture (and of a certain creator's etiquette) when a pile of errors and the recollection of old, inadvisable habits you perceive in an old piece has knocked you back a bit.

SleepCircle

when you criticize your own work, akrasia, are you crapping all over the work of artists who are even worse than you? i'm guessing you're not, you're just comparing yourself to your own goals and standards.

Can I say that he looks more manic and it’s a full mood

Diditforgold

Beautiful work, keep growing !!
