Happy to finally get to this, and I'm also happy to say I feel like it was worth the wait (at least for me). This has been requested for years now, and I can see why.

It slipped my mind that Isiah Rashad was releasing today, but I am hoping to can listen to that album somewhat soon. We'll see, not sure when.

Enjoy that weekend, yall

Hell yeah

I think Sun's Tirade and This House is Burning is a pretty do-able double feature. Or at least worth circling back to if you go for the new Isaiah

ZachTheMusicMan

I've been looking forward to this for YEARS... honestly just to see you struggle to wrap your mind around it. 20 minutes in and i am NOT disappointed. Aesop uses words in a way nobody in hip hop has or ever will.

Aesop's videos are definetly creative enough that you should check them out. 'Chop you down just to count your rings' is also a double entendre when you consider someone being killed during a robbery for their jewelry

I love how we get a double reaction to Kirby and the second verse of Blood Sandwich through you reading them out to your wife. A long awaited but awesome video. I had so much fun seeing you go through the album. Definitely check out some of the videos. The one for Kirby is adorable and Shrunk has fun animation.

If your digging this cryptic sound you would absolutely love BUS DRIVER - Imaginary places

I’d love to see a reaction to the new Isaiah Rashad album. Loved your reaction to cilvia demo

LocalMelomaniac

Definitely hoping you check out more in the future. I would recommend going with newer releases as opposed to his older stuff though. ‘I heard It’s A Mess There Too’ is his most recent solo album and is much more digestible, especially for an entire listen like this. It’s also my favorite of his to date. His older stuff is pretty dense and might be tough to make it all the way through. Glad you enjoyed and you definitely caught more stuff than I did first listen, don’t worry!

carlos cervantes

i do think if you enjoyed this you would enjoy the albums brick body kids still daydream or dark comedy by open mike eagle

Sean H

his newer stuff is digestible.. his older stufff is really really dense. thanks for this reaction!

Pong

There's an interview with him around a year before the album came out. The interviewer is open mike eagle he's also a great hiphop artist. The interview is great but it also made me enjoy and understand the album more, as he explains scenes he raps about in the album. Interview starts at 4:42 https://podbay.fm/p/secret-skin/e/1434380443

Cool pick! Aesop Rock is a truly unique artist. Not the biggest fan, but love some of his stuff and really enjoy him in small doses. Other albums you should do, that I know have been brought up for some time: Cannibal OX - The Cold Vein and CunninLynguists - A Piece of Strange

Getting closer to SAGE FRANCIS - Copper Gone (2014)/ Personal Journals (2002)/ A Healthy Distrust (2005), ATMOSPHERE - Lucy Ford EP (2001)/ Southsiders (2014)/ God Loves Ugly (2002)/,So Many Other Realities Exist Simultaneously (2023) , BUCK 65 - Square (2002)/ Vertex (1997), AYENTEE - The Fall Deluxe (2024)/ Peasant Symphony (2006) and not the least MAC LETHAL - Congratulations (2016)/ Irish Goodbye (2011) ...... Absolute huge fiery wins for any of these, Bob <3 <3 <3

You've got to react to some more MJ, especially with the release of the recent movie!

Ian Lewis

Completely made my day seeing you reacting to this record; Aes is a lot to digest in first listen trying, and trying to understand every song the first go around is a Herculean task. That said, great reaction; glad you enjoyed it!

Recommending Isaiah Rashad’s “IT’S BEEN AWFUL”

EEF

An Isaiah Rashad and Little Simz double reaction would go CRAZY today👀 Isaiah's is under an hour and Simz is just 4 songs. Just sayin🤷‍♂️...

Alistair Davidson

The way I think about his weirder tracks is they are not narratives or messages. Instead, he is taking a theme and tone and using them as an opportunity to show off his wordplay and rhyming ability. It's interesting to speculate about what he means, but it's not the point of those tracks as much as the crazy rhyme schemes and vocab are.

Ezcodylee stunt 4 life would cure your faith in rap

For when you someday feel like listening to another Aesop project, I would recommend Integrated Tech Solutions (ITS) from a few years ago. It has a lot of the more tangible kind less abstract songs. Though I do love those as well.
