Hey guys, sorry about the lack of posts lately, the Diggle household has been battling a cold and that took me out for a couple of days. But I’m pleased to announce that planning for the next two-page spread for Humanity Lost is now complete and it’s a doozy! I also storyboarded a few pages ahead, this upcoming sequence is really cool and I think that you’re going to like it a lot, I’m talking space battles and multiple Over-fathers!

For now, while you wait for me to complete the line-work on that, here’s another header page for my upcoming illustrated epic-poem, the Song of Sundering and Sithen Days.

I’m doing a big page like this one for each of the four cantos and the appendix. I’ve completed three so far and you can find those here:

I’m just doing each one as the inspiration strikes, that way I get the best results and it doesn’t interrupt work on Humanity Lost too much.

I’ve actually already written most of the book, I just need to finish the final draft of the fourth canto titled The Days of Tin and the appendix. Then I’ll be ready to illustrate the whole book for publication, like I’ve already done with the Days of Iron.

I’ll also be dropping some bonus video content soon too 👀

Have a great weekend guys and thanks for you support.

Somewhat unrelated, but I had an idea for a weapon in Humanity Lost. Basically an explosive, but instead of a chemical explosion, the device creates or releases a small wormhole which leads to the Nero. Everything in its radius is briefly exposed to the alternate universe and turns into a fractal. What do you think?

Amazing and very detailed! I believe I recall you saying Talana would not be focused on that much in the story of Concavia, have you decided to change that? There is a large city and the spire in the distance, and the people seem to be wearing heavy clothing. It was mentioned in the past that the primordial goddess Mehter made a spell to prevent the spire from being built any higher, did she do this by making the spire and the area around it much colder to stop it's construction? I wonder, are Dwalves able to control diamonds and other gemstones as part of their magic? Do Dwalves use domesticated animals? Potentially ones that spend all or part of their time in caves, like would there be giant bats they could use as flying mounts or large spiders that could be attack dogs? Do you have any specific spells you've come up with? I hope you have a great day, your art is great as always!

oh my it’s so beautiful. i love seeing the curvature in the distance

CallumStephenDiggle

Thanks so much! I always have a fun time visualising the curvature, I may at some point in the future try to create an interactive equirectangular panorama for people to look around In

I think that’s a really creative idea, I think it’d look absolutely crazy too

Thanks.

Aye that’s right, in the story of Concavia, which is the illustrated novel that I’m building up towards, Talanā will not be the focus, but in the Song of Sundering and Sithen Days we will be seeing a lot of the world and what it was like through the various ages, so we’ll be seeing more of Talanā and the other civilisations in the Days of Tin canto of the book, and maybe a little in the Appendix too. They’re wearing heavy coats because of the elevation in which the Sunglass is placed, they’re also pretty close to the southern pole which is where the bearer is located. Her making the area colder to dissuade them is definitely a possibility! The Talanos can only operate around the base, the Alves themselves constructed the bearer because they’re far FAR more hardy than the races of men and can survive conditions which would be perilous to others. Yes, certainly! The Dwalves have influence over the earthy domain and that includes all gems and precious stones, even crystals. Yes the Dwalves have domesticated animals, or rather their worshipers keep and breed them on their behalf. They’re kept for sacrificial purposes, the Dwalves consume their life essence and their worshipers eat their meat. At this stage in Concavias development, I have it in my mind that animals in Concavia are as they are here on earth. I want the world to be relatively grounded in that respect, with the elements of world which seem strange to us being directly tied to the cosmology of the world, like the Dwalves, the Silvern, the wightlings, pucks, dragons and so on… I haven’t come up with individual Dwalves spells yet, nope. And you too Erika, have a great weekend and thank you for the questions and the kind words 🙏🏻
