I know this might look a little abstract in its current state, but fear not. What is happening in it will be explained on the following page. When it has been finished and fully coloured, that’ll make things a lot easier to read too.

What we have here is a vast constellation of evenly spaced Tandrax probes creating an impenetrable barrier ahead of the Imperium capital fleet using SLOW energy. Remember the SLOW from the lore booklet at the end of Volume 2? It’s a universe like the FLUX, which obeys a different set of universal constants. Nothing within the SLOW can exceed 2,000 kph, so you have to slow right down when entering, which makes this barrier highly effective.

You’ll be seeing a lot more of these alternate universes being utilised going forwards, even in this very scene.

Based on all the seemingly cascading explosions in panel 2, I don't think the shield is holding up very well. If the All-Mother is trying to cause cascading Kessler syndrome to destroy the Dyson Swarm, wouldn't that destroy the biomass she presumably intends to use to kickstart her conquest of the Tandrax? Or is it that it doesn't matter if the biomass is alive or has been somewhat damaged by a battle like this, she can use it just fine? This may be the case because Lostes suit was made from biomass from Imperium drones that were killed, but those were probably designed to be recycled easily. Why would a SLOW shield be very effective if the fleet can go around it or send smaller and more expendable units to destroy the probes? Is the shield meant to surround the whole star or encourage Imperium units into move into trajectories where they will be more easily destroyed? Or is it that the Tandrax have not faced a genuine threat that could actually destroy them in millennia, and they have gotten arrogant and/or lost their ability to fight battles like this? I don't think I've ever heard of someone actually trying to illustrate a Dyson sphere at this scale, much less a battle involving one! Very impressive!
