Miningation

L + no physical ammunition + *Emperium + you’re dead + no anomalocaris

Our enemies are formidable, but not invulnerable! Also small nitpick since the series seems mostly hard sci-fi minus the wacky psychic stuff, things don't make sounds in space since there's no air to vibrate, so onomatopoeia are unnecessary

Perhaps it's the perspective of the crew of the ship firing the guns? The point of view being outside the ship does muddle my point, but still...

Galm_1

i mean it's not exactly a big deal, people are used to space sounds from media so would likely fill in the blanks themselves and it might just be a stylistic choice from Callum.

I like the way the ship evades the shot, with a reaction control system (little rockets maneuvering it), not like a plane would, but like a real spaceship. It’s what I like about “The Expanse” ships, for example, they are pretty much to Newtonian physics…

Yeah this was a stylistic choice, of course as you said, sound does not travel in space, but I do imagine the sound would carry through the hull of the ship which is firing though. You’d likely hear and feel the thud of shots being fired off through the vibration in the vessel itself. I try to keep stuff somewhat real despite the Psionics and the parallel universe elements of Humanity Lost.

Yeah man, the expanse battle scenes are pretty good! I try to keep stuff somewhat grounded in reality with Humanity Lost despite the Psionics and the parallel universe elements of the story.

Gabu

You do a good job keeping the tension up! They are not getting out easily!
