Hello everyone, sorry about the lack of content today, I had a bit of a health emergency and had to spend the entire day in The accident and emergency ward of Peterborough hospital. My appendix had swollen up massively and seemed as though it was going to burst. It took ten hours to be seen by a doctor and by that time it had shrunk down. The doctor just sent me on my way and said come back if it swells up again. It wasn’t a great day to be honest, not terribly productive. I’m going to take it easy this weekend, I hope you all have a good weekend. I’m honestly so glad that I didn’t need to have an operation but I feel like I will need to in the near future if it is actually appendicitis.

Take care homie

Diamondo! !

Appendixes: dangerous, useless, and still within our bodies for some reason.

Darnell

Jeez man get better soon. Might need to start taking the probiotics n stuff

lixitrixi

I hope it'll be alright, take your time and take care of yourself!

S. Fish

Your health comes first my friend. Please be careful and take care!

Desmond Rhea

Take care dude. Maybe check your diet.

Mark Webb

Sorry to hear that delightful comics man. Keep on them about the follow up, your are a polite

K

That’s no fun. When I was younger, my dad’s appendix bursted. He made it out alright with surgery, but it was still pretty intense! Get some rest, and take care!

The Raff

The creation of a super intelligent AI would have solved this, just saying

Planetace

I HOPE.YOU GET BETTER CALLUM! Jesus that sounds MEGA painful.

Jackson Callaway

Well that's fucked. I would go see a non-emergency doctor ASAP. From my experience, urgent care doctors have seen so much shit that anything short of a steel bar through your skull isn't going to phase them. Appendicitis is no joke. If it bursts, you risk sepsis which can be fatal. The fact that it's swelling at all is indicative of infection, parasites, or just general dysbiosis. See a doctor who can take their time before this becomes a problem again! Take care of yourself. The comics will be there when you're well :)

This…sounds like a precursor to full appendicitis. Don’t ignore it.

Bam Mulrooney

Rest well friend, nothing is more important than your health.

Julez

Dude take it easy😁We appreciate your work, now matter how long it'll take😊

cubirk

break a leg ;)

I'm relieved to hear that its not swollen right now, but I have to echo what a few others have said above! Please consider seeing a non-urgent doctor. IF ANYTHING, at least go right away to the ER if you feel your pain start to come back. When I had appendicitis, my family had to drag me to the Hospital because I looked like I was about to die. If you had asked me at the time, I would've just said I had some stomach pain- turns out my appendix was only a few hours away from bursting... Please don't hesitate to seek medical attention again if you get even the slightest pain, its always better to get that little bomb of an organ out rather than keep it in. Do it for All-Mother :)

Miningation

Damn I had appendicitis or something similar to that once and it felt like I got shot or something. Like others have said above try to go and see a non-urgent doctor and get it checked out.

Snailem666

That's such a long time to have to wait, must have been so awful. Feel for you my dude 💜

Brian

Hey sorry to hear you got sick. If your appendix was swelling, you should think about seeing a surgeon to get it taken out. A swollen appendix is usually caused by fecal stones obstructing the normal flow of digestive material in and out of the appendix. Sounds like you did have appendicitis, just not ruptured. And there's a good chance it could happen again. Standard of care is appendectomy. (I'm an emergency radiologist)

Get well soon!

CallumStephenDiggle

Thanks! It seems to have shrunk down almost back to normal now, my white blood cells must have sorted it out by themselves, but my lord was it painful!

CallumStephenDiggle

I’m no doctor but that’s how I imagined it. The surgeon that was seeing to me didn’t seem to want to operate, he said for me just to leave but keep an eye on it, I think the NHS is just overwhelmed. It took five and a half hours for me to see a nurse and two more just to have my blood taken.

CallumStephenDiggle

Thanks so much, it was really rough to be honest, I’m just glad to be back home.

CallumStephenDiggle

It felt like the feeling you get when you get punched in the gut for me, but it was constant. Did they have to operate on you or did your body sort itself out? thanks, I’ll see how it goes but I’ll keep a close eye on it.

CallumStephenDiggle

Damn I was thinking the same but the surgeon who was looking after me really didn’t want to operate for some reason. I think it was just because the NHS is overwhelmed and there was no space for me. My abdomen is a little larger than usual right now but hopefully it’ll sort itself out. I’ll do what you said though and rush to the hospital if it happens again. Imperium invictus!

CallumStephenDiggle

Cor, I know, I was like “not now, I need to finish Humanity Lost and have a few kids yet.” Haha. Thanks bud I’ll keep a close eye on it, I appreciate your concern!

Brian

Oooof that sucks. Sounds like the healthcare system over there is well over capacity. Were you prescribed antibiotics by any chance? If the surgeon didn't want to operate on you, the least they could've done was prescribe you a few days of antibiotics. In the US, we usually use ceftriaxone and metronidazole. The antibiotics help clear the infection and inflammation. But eventually you'll still need surgery.

CallumStephenDiggle

Oh it was agonising, there was no way I could turn or place my body to get a moment away from the pain. I made friends with another lad there that was going though the same thing, so that kind of helped me get through it. Thanks for your get well wish my man, I’ll take it easy and hopefully my body will deal with the issue by itself.

CallumStephenDiggle

I didn’t realise just how common it was 😮 I’m sorry to hear about your dad going though that, but I’m glad he’s alright. I will, thank you K.

CallumStephenDiggle

Thanks for the kind words Mark, I’ll be back at the desk in no time I’m sure!

CallumStephenDiggle

Thanks Desmond, yeah I need to switch things up a bit, I have been abusing my body a bit with food, caffeine and alcohol. The thing is I look in shape because I hit the gym every day, but that’s not necessarily a marker of internal health. Fish, chicken, veg and salad from now on I think.

Rossa Takanashi

No offense, home emergencies take precedence. If anyone wants to complain about you needing to handle shit then they need to gtfo

CallumStephenDiggle

I appreciate that man, I’ll take it easy and keep an eye on it from now on. If it happens again I’ll rush back in.

Desmond Rhea

I have a friend you could contact on Instagram if you want who could give you some tips or advice. I mean I have no idea if that's what it is. I'm not going to pretend I have some sort of amazing diet. I'm probably in the same boat as you just without the pain

Miningation

It eventually sorted itself out but damn was sleeping a pain in the ass.

Andrew Nicklin

Damn dude, take it easy. You’re health comes first. You do great work, there’s no rush!

Ryan

Jeez dude, please take care of yourself

Rohan Sinha

Take care and I hope everything goes well. As many others have suggested, you should see a non-urgent doctor to ensure there isn't any future risk to your health. If you feel it's necessary to take a more extended break, your should do so.

Caleb Hudson

My father had a burst appendix when I was 1 and he should have died. It was no joke I almost grew up fatherless. Get it checked. It doesn't take long for it to be fatal.

Gabu

Wishing you well. Have you tried any anti-inflammation foods and herbs like turmeric and black pepper? (Not a solution if surgery is needed of course)

Isaac Solar

Oh. We call that appendix here. I heard its very common, and a very painful experience, not just physically. We all hope you fell better soon bro! Have some rest

Isaac Solar

Oh yeah, and having a bit of knowledge about it would help too!

CallumStephenDiggle

I’m not 100% but I’m getting there, thanks so much Issac, means a lot

CallumStephenDiggle

I have not, but I will! I’ve been told by the doctor to stay away from painkillers and anti-inflammatory drugs but I’m sure if it occurs naturally in the food it will be alright. I’ll have a bit of black pepper on my salad this lunch.

CallumStephenDiggle

Non-urgent sounds like the way to go, I’m not sure how I’d go about seeing one of those but I’ll see if I can figure out a way of getting an appointment. The NHS is so cumbersome and hard to navigate but I’ll get there. I’m doing everything I can on my end to see to it that my health stays alright. I’m eating a bunch of light and healthy meals, lots of salad and veg with no carbs and little meat. I’ve cut out caffeine and alcohol. It should be alright for the time being, I hope. Thanks I appreciate that a lot, I’m back at the desk today.

CallumStephenDiggle

I’m sorry to hear that about your dad, I’m glad he’s alright! I’ll keep a close eye on it, I promise.

Oleksii Tyshchenko

Take care, get well soon, and thanks for the update! Your health is the main priority.

CallumStephenDiggle

Thanks for your concern Oleksii! I seem to be doing alright now, we all have these health hiccups every now and again.
