I can’t believe we’ve finally reached the end of volume one, it has been a long time coming. It’s no small task completing a graphic novel, but there’s so much more work to be done. Now it’s time for me to write in finer detail what is to happen in volume 2. I already have a broad overarching plan for the next two volumes, but it’s the details of each scene that I need to get into. That should take a couple of weeks, but I’ll try to keep fresh content coming for you all. Stuff like, character designs and conceptual artwork for volume 2. There’s so much to look forward to!

Tomorrow I will release Simon Roy’s cover artwork for issue 4. On Monday I’ll update the PDF folder to include issue 5 and the new cover. There’s also the imperium trooper figurines that’ll be available soon enough, they’re just going though the prototyping phase right now. I’ll also update you with news concerning the physical release of Humanity Lost: Volume one, which will be titled REBIRTH. All that being said, it will be a little slower this month than usual, but please don’t go anywhere.

Some notes of process:

For volume 1 I went through a creation process of completing the comic in stages. First I went through the writing phase, then the pencilling phase, then the inking phase, then the colouring and lettering phase. Some phases, like the inking phase, took a whole year to complete. I wont be replicating that process for volume 2, I’m going to try something new. I’m doing this because the other process meant that there wasn’t a complete page for a full two and a half years after first putting pencil to paper. All you have seen on Patreon thus far is the colouring phase. So for my new process, rather than just doing one phase at a time, I’m going to complete a single page in one go, this will mean you will constantly get new artwork and it’ll also be an insight into my new art process. It’ll most likely be interesting for aspiring artists who follow me on here, it’ll be an inside look at how a comic is made, or at least, how I make comics.

I want to say thanks again to you all for continuing to support the work I do, it’s only possible because of your kind patronage.

It’s so awesome to see how far the graphic novel has come. I can’t wait to see what the second volume has in store!

Will you ever go back and possibly add in more pages or panels? I love your universe and ideas but sometimes it feels like the pacing is too quick or there should be a page for character interaction. Unless you plan on addressing that in the next volume. Definitely feel like there should have been more of a conversation with the chantauri that he got saved by. Though I get that he was pretty tired at that point and maybe more for keeping to himself. Congrats though Sir. I always enjoy seeing new pages and can't wait to see what happens with the overfathers.

Did Belfast also see Losté’s memories?

cubirk

and then he said "its losting time"

Davide

Congratulations Stephen for the conclusion of Vol.1, Lostè's expression is really touching. You really have a lot of plans for the future! Good luck and don't feel pressured, even if we viewers will wait a little longer for the Art it will be worth it :)

Davide

and he lostin all the humanity all over the Allmother, truly one of the most moment of the Graphic Novel

Bruno Barrios

Congrats man! Proud that you've made it this far. Can't wait to see what you have in store for Vol 2, I'm sure that it'll blow our minds. It's been pretty awesome seeing this epic tale grow little by little, happy to support you Stephen!

Just found out about this series today from a YouTube video. Immediately joined the Patreon and read the entire thing on my lunch break. I am obsessed! Can’t wait for more

Isaac Solar

Good job man! We are here for you all the way!

CallumStephenDiggle

Oh there’s a lot in store alright and I can’t wait to bring it to life! Thanks as always man.

CallumStephenDiggle

Possibly, I have thought about doing that with a few scenes. I do definitely see where you’re coming from though and there will be a lot more character interactions in the second volume, rest assured. There will be more conversations between characters so they can address what they’ve been through and bond. Characters like Sam and Skiv (the Chantauri) need to have a heart to heart and so do Sam and Belfast. Deicide will play a much larger role in volume 2 also. Thanks Desmond, there will be a LOT more of the Overfathers coming up!

CallumStephenDiggle

Richard mate, thanks so much! I’m really glad you think so and I also appreciate your continued patronage. You sir, have big Willy energy haha!

CallumStephenDiggle

It’s getting there slowly ay, but it will get there, I’m determined to see this thing through to its conclusion. I can’t wait to show you all the things I have planned along the way, plenty of twists and turns! Thanks Bruno, means the world.

CallumStephenDiggle

Oh my, Welcome! I’m so glad you enjoyed it. I’m sorry that you joined at the end of volume one though, there’s going to be a slight drought of content these next two weeks because I’m going to be working on the writing, but I’ll do my best to get some new stuff out for you! Thanks so much for joining up, your support is very much appreciated.

Life got busy after reading issue 3 and just caught myself up. Awesome shit, I love the future we see within the Luna colony, the whole thing so cool I can’t wait for the next issue

Mark Temple

so that's what the yellow liquid was in the scenes where he woke up. if the stuff dried up that much, its a miracle he survived at all.

Gabu

It could be one reason he came out drier and thinner

Gabu

Great stuff! I like the focus on Sam’s reaction as the last panel and the subtile hint of Deicide. Sam’s the main character, so it’s good to bring it back to his shocking reminder of his life Great breaking time for the next Volume!

Isaac Solar

i thought.. it was..... accumulated pee... but nevermind

CallumStephenDiggle

I’m glad you’re paying attention to all those little thematic details Gabriel, thanks! I’ve got so much more in store for Losté this next volume, I can’t wait to show it all off.

CallumStephenDiggle

It’s called Pod-yoke, it’s this sort of hyper advanced regenerative fluid. It’s also used in medical procedures in the future too under a different name. It didn’t dry up, it was in the process of being drained in issue one but the stasis pod encountered an issue when draining it because of the lack of gravity. This is what woke Losté up in the very beginning, but yeah absolutely, it’s a miracle he’s even alive!

Sam

Interesting from a reader point of view, yet i don't see how this flashback can made Oughrigadd change his point of view about this rebellion against AllMother. All of this it's just old history. I wonder what Deicide have in minde after that

CallumStephenDiggle

There’s more to come in this next issue, we’re going to see Deicides origin story and learn why he betrayed the All-Mother. It’s more that the All-mother isn’t what the Overfathers think she is and that she has been telling them lies their entire lives that will change Oughrigadds point of view. To even begin to question his foundational beliefs of reality is a great way to break his conditioning and bring them over to the side of the galactic union.
