Will you do a comic set on the planet the Vureii or the Bo came from? It would be very interesting to see what it was like for them when the Imperium invaded. I imagine it would be somewhat like War of the Worlds only the invaders win.

CallumStephenDiggle

That would be amazing, I have no current plans to do so, but I’d love to, It’s all just a case of finding time. It would be a great mini comic I think, from a Bo’s point of view showing their regular life and then their species struggle against the imperium. You’ve got me thinking now, it could even be from the point of view of that street preacher we saw back on Chiron in the township of Newg. It could be them telling a story to a passerby who stopped to listen.

EXCUSE ME, *THOUGHT LORDS?!* Just when I thought this premise couldn't get any better, you drop a concept this Absolutely METAL. I am in love with every single detail about their designs Jeezus Cheist

CallumStephenDiggle

Thanks so much haha I’m really glad to hear that you like them. Well, over the next few pages you’ll get to see them in action!

Mod 5ider

I can't bloody wait Callum! Keep up the great work.

I wonder how advanced the Bo and Vureii were when their planets were conquored. The Bo must have had space stations when the Imperium arrived at their world because it likely only takes the All-Mother a few weeks to take over a planet with less advanced defenses. I'm imagining a Bo or Vureii looking through a telescope and seeing Krakens approaching their planet.

CallumStephenDiggle

Both the Bo and the Vureii were around the same level of technological advancement. At their height, they were comparable to Humanity pre-All-Mother. They both would have had rudimentary interstellar capabilities, hence some of them being able to escape the Imperium invasion. the Vureii held one star system other than their home system under their dominion and the Bo held two. Oh yeah for sure, the sight would be dread inducing, absolutely apocalyptic.

Erika Spooner

What do you think the first reactions of the Bo and Vureii governments were? I'm assuming neither of them had FTL travel like the Imperium does, so any signal to their colonies would not have arrived in time to warn them.

CallumStephenDiggle

I can only assume that it would be the abject terror. This would have been their first contact and it was not a peaceful one. The fear would have been palpable as the Krakens entered into the Atmosphere and unleashed their swarms of locusts. That’s very true, there would be a delay in communication between colonies, this would only add to the feeling of disorganisation and hopelessness. it’s only when you think about the worlds that have already fallen to the Imperium that you really realise the threat that the rest of the galaxy faces.

Erika Spooner

I'm assuming the All-Mother knows about tactics, I'm guessing the Krakens destroyed communication satellites to add to the confusion and targeted critical infrastructure and military bases as the locusts came down. It would be wildly interesting to have the perspective of a Bo/Vureii soldier encountering the Imperium personally.

Wow, Deicide is kind of a badass? He's taken on both those Thought Lords at once without so much as a scratch, so far.

CallumStephenDiggle

He’s a total badass. You’re going to see a bit more of his life after this scene, things like, how he beat back the imperium, ingratiated himself to the Galactic Union and rose through the ranks to leader through his own merit. There’s lots of cool stuff to see coming up and so many visuals that I can’t wait to draw. I’m talking space battles, Womb-World warfare and more!

Eric

dosen't work

Why exactly did the U.E. rise? Was it because of some crisis that made people come together to build a new system? It would be very interesting if the founders of the U.E. made it to make humanity less greedy and violent and that the world government thought to be a dystopia was once an effort to change human nature for the better.

CallumStephenDiggle

It rose out of the central banks and the global governance structure that began construction in the late 19th and early 20th century. Its foundation was a gradual process of ever increasing centralisation, the integration of international markets and the erosion of National sovereignty. Though media manipulation, the infiltration of institutions and government cabinets, they eroded National identity and created a transnational governmental infrastructure that slowly merged pre-existing nations into larger bloc-like economic zones where governance and law-making was taken beyond the national level. These blocs merged over time and the peoples of the world were non the wiser as they were dragged along into the brave new world of technological slavery, they were like slowly boiling frogs unaware that they were being cooked. Aldous Huxley said it best in 1958 - “A truly efficient totalitarian state of the future would be one in which the all-powerful executive of political bosses and their army of managers control a population of slaves who do not have to be coerced, because they love their servitude.” The masses were lulled into a sleepwalk through over-stimulation and indoctrination into the new ideology of the state or “truth regime”. So long as the entertainment and the food kept coming, the majority of the populous did not rebel. Though, some groups did manage to rebel and create their own nations through the creation and leadership of their respective counter elites which lead rebellious movements against the hegemonic power of the United Earth. The ancient poet of Rome, Juvenal put it simply when he said “give them bread and circuses and they will never revolt.” and he was right for the most part. The U.E.’s takeover wasn’t an event or a calamity, it was a steady creep, a slippery slope.

Erika Spooner

So the U.E. wasn't intentionally created by someone, it was just an organization that slowly evolved over time into what it is. Did some people who were responsible for making the U.E. have good intentions? Sort of like how Einstein wrote a letter to someone in the government warning them about what could happen if the Nazi's got an atomic bomb and encouraged them to accelerate the Manhattan Project, ultimately leading to the Cold War. I wonder if it became the way it was in Humanity Lost by being hijacked by corrupt people.

Davide

Almost like our timeline, very realistic

Davide

i think that some people in the UE want stop war, famine, disease throught a global goverment with his immense resources, but it's a system too easy to corrupt, just like our ONU

Incomplete Machine

I like to think that its more of this than anything else. States, corporations and institutions have always had a tendancy to accumulate power into themselves regardless of what ideology they profess to follow. I feel that the only solution is democratising as much as we possibly can, but it seems pretty clear that in the HL universe, things like corporations and other non-democratic systems of power continued to persist and influence politics.

I took a year's break in order not to binge the whole comic. During that time I had managed to forget how amazing it is. The art and art design are beyond cool, the story is neat, the characters remarkably likeable with their general friendliness and the worldbuilding is just fascinating.Thank you!

Were the Doggerland Knights fighting against the Imperium?

CallumStephenDiggle

They were fighting against the U.E., this is touched on in issue 7 😁

Alec Ritter

Okay this is now driving me insane. Is his plate inspired by 2000 AD Nemesis' snout?

people3786

In issue 2 on page 31 its mentioned that the AM can see and command every unit, why didnt she just take control of Deicides kraken and prevent him from using it? Im assuming the AM can only control the units of overfathers who are loyal, im interested at what point are they free of AMs control, is it when they cut the connection? If so, shouldnt AM have taken control of the kraken?

Rosa

Yooo is the discord still up?

Ryderbike1

I wasn’t aware there was a discord
