It’s very rare that a unit is named, when they are, it puts them on the fast track to exaltation (becoming an Over-Father). It’s up to an Over-Father to separate the wheat from the chaff among his ranks and designate names.

In the case of Uthipidus’ armour here, it’s not custom. This is just elite trooper armour, essentially special forces.

Overfather vs Bucky from the Marvel movies. I wonder if Drones could cling to the outside of a dropship while it was in flight.

I can imagine ways in which Bucky could win, though he does have the disadvantage of being a bit squidgy. You tell me who you think would come out on top? I’d say so, if the Locust doesn’t pull too many high-g manoeuvres.

The Overfather would likely win, the All-Mother is millenia ahead at material science than the guys who built Bucky's arm. I doubt anything short of a tank round could even have a chance at piercing what AM has cooked up for the Overfathers.

Knowing her, she probably kept it intentionally as a failsafe to allow drones to act under free thought under extreme conditions. I doubt she WANTS it around, but it could be possible for a drone to be disconnected - she needs a method for the drone to reconnect, and letting them freely think in that situation would be acceptable.
