As promised, here it is!

Next up, I’ve got a piece planned that I’m very excited to make.

It’s a two page spread of the Imperium invasion force. In it I will reveal a new Imperium spacecraft, the Leviathan! It’s the Imperium’s largest unit and I can’t wait to show this two page spread off to you lovely people. It’ll take a few days to complete, but I won’t be long.

Anyway, I hope you all have a great weekend!

Leviathan? Loving it and I haven’t even seen it yet. Can’t wait, mate!

Fernando Ruiz

Holy cow! I can feel the rush of our hero escaping and the imminent arrival from the Imperium forces, thrilling!

Morgan Weafer

No problem. I love your work. Humanity Lost is definitely a world I want to loose myself to. You should total do a cover page depicting the mast cast in the style of a 80s adventure novel

Charlie Horse

Love the spatial distortion and the clean chunks of the ship missing. Took me a minute to notice the seat above big-brain. I wasnt expecting the scale in that frame since its the same red as the previous, up-close frame. Perhaps add some haze to give depth or something to clear it up? Or make the red color fade away from the captains chair? Just ideas if you ever revise things. Then again, there's nothing wrong with studying a frame to get it. Thats why your art is so fun. It needs to be studied to get those little details because they're definitely in there.

Hahahaha el bebote <- big baby in spanish. I never thought about a big baby piloting the ship. I thought the big ships had like their own insect-like brain or something. It is a very cool concept, though! I still don't see any reason for him to turn against the all mother. Yes, he saw some old humans in the Luna abandoned city but nothing very specific to start a rebellion. I want to know more!

How did you manage to nail gravitational lensing with hand-drawn pictures? This is just plain cool. Looking forward to the Leviathan as well. Edit: I also like how you depict even the Overfathers to be vulnerable to vacuum exposure. Either as a result of strict planning (An Overfather under strict guidance of AM would never have to take off their own face plate) or as a callback to their human origins, I like it. The sense of weakness present even in the strongest individuals, and the true strength that shines through not ignoring, but enduring those weaknesses.

Looks like someone took a chunk out of that Kraken spaceship :D

Davide

Good work Stephen and happy weekend!

Davide

If you want only see the Moon and your God immediately start trying to kill you and your world after you have served her for years... I think that Deicide is justified

Davide

The Flux wants some snacks🍔

Davide

El Bebote sound even better of Navigator 🤣

Erika Spooner

Krakens are absurdly versatile if one survived THAT, I wonder if they can operate underwater to attack aquatic species like the Pekt. It would be awesome to see one burst out of the ocean and attack something.

Isaac Solar

I bet they would have a custom, better-suited force for that :D

Captain_Torres

Imagine if Kraken could launch living torpedos from above the ocean to hit targets underwater

Justin Huynh

Is the Navigator an integral part of the ship or is he a separate lifeform who just sits in it?

cornerflag77

If the All-Mother is a singularity level AI, how did she not see this coming?

CallumStephenDiggle

Those are some good points Charlie, thanks. I’ll make the edits so it reads more clearly! I appreciate the constructive input ☺️

CallumStephenDiggle

Haha I’m glad to hear it man! I think you’re going to dig it, it has a combination of a lot of Imperium visual motifs, to the point that you’ll feel like you’ve seen it before, but that it’s also something fresh and new.

CallumStephenDiggle

I’m really glad that’s coming across in the story telling, cheers mate!

CallumStephenDiggle

Hahah I don’t know why that made me laugh so much Well, he has seen contradictory information to what the All-Mother has raised him on, it lead him to questioning his faith to the All-Mother, how could she lie to me? The All-Mother struck out at him for betraying her order never to go down to the lunar surface and he was forced to defend himself, she does not tolerate any dissent. Now he’s on the run after killing two of his superiors. More things will be revealed in the coming issue that will make his rebellion more concrete (and there will be a bunch of lore).

CallumStephenDiggle

Thank you Jupiter, you’re very kind. I did a fair bit of research on how a wormhole would appear in three dimensional space and also the phenomenon of spatial-lensing that occurs. It’s not 100% accurate, but it’s close enough for what I wanted to do. I couldn’t have said that better myself, very nicely put!

CallumStephenDiggle

I totally get that take and it’s one that I battle with, but if I was to take that ALL the way there wouldn’t be a story haha It could be explained through emotional hang ups to some degree, the All-Mother faltering in her decision making because she, deep down, loves her son.

CallumStephenDiggle

Good to hear it Cap! I’ve got a cool sequence planned where an Imperium Anomalocaris deploys orbital drop-pods to the womb-worlds surface and the Camera follows it all the way down and continues to follow the troopers inside as they exit the pod into the fray of battle.

CallumStephenDiggle

They’ve got a lot of redundancy built it, that’s for sure! I had never thought of that! Damn, I don’t see why not 🤔 they even look quite aquatic. Great idea, Erika! The Imperium would absolutely have dedicated Nautical units, but it’d be pretty neat to see a Kraken plunge through the icy shell of a gas giants moon and continue on underwater.

CallumStephenDiggle

Aye, that’d be the FLUX. It’s a dangerous place and you never know when a particle is going to blip inside your ship and carry a chunk away with it.

Erika Spooner

I wonder how something like this would look in animation form. I'm imagining it would be somewhat like the style used by that show Invincible. A sequence in the flux showing Deicide's flying skills would look great.

Miningation

‘Leviathan’ certainly gives it a menacing aura. i imagine it’s a cross between a wombworld and a shipyard with its own armada of krakens aboard which it can repair within. Looks like Deicide is about to face the full brunt of the Imperium, I imagine a wombworld is incredibly hard to capture given that troops are constantly in production.

cornerflag77

That makes sense narratively. Maybe it could do something with her original directives? Like win the war and protect humanity so it warps her decision making. Still super awesome though, the Imperium is my favorite!

CallumStephenDiggle

You hit the nail on the head there. It deploys krakens like the kraken deploys Locusts. It’s a colossal mobile base that can also attack. Aye, he has the home ground advantage, but with that wormhole still open, the Imperium will keep pouring through.
