THE LEVIATHAN!

sorry about the wait there, this was quite a complex one to plan out and draw, but here it is. The colour work won’t take nearly as long as the line work, so I should have that up on here in a day or two. I can’t wait to show you the finished result.

Terrifying and yet simultaneously breathtaking.

Rohan Sinha

It looks awesome, well done!

Planetace

Just how fucking large are the Leviathans!? The Krakens from my own observations are probably the size of small asteroids (3-10 kilometers). Yet they are utterly dwarfed into specks in the background once reaching the Leviathan! Is that thing the size of a planet!?

Davide

no worrying about the wait Stephen, it's a superb line-work, the Leviathans are terrifying

Miningation

Absolutely breathtaking. Many a question now: Are krakens stored in the same things on the wings of the leviathan as the kraken has anomalocarises on its ‘chest’? Are these things piloted by Thought-lords? The faces on the top of the leviathan are similar to a TL’s sarcophagus. Are Leviathan’s grown on Wombworlds or are they the All-Mother’s personal battleship-carriers produced in the defensive membrane?

Fernando Ruiz

*Leviathan has entered the chat*

CallumStephenDiggle

Thanks! Krakens are indeed stored on those things on the Leviathan’s wings. The Leviathan is also has a rotating O’Neill cylinder on the inside that travels the length of the thicker section of the body. That’s an interesting idea, but no. The Thought-Lords remain as sentries for the All-Mother within the defensive membrane. What pilots the leviathan is a network of Navigators who in turn link up to the Leviathans duel gigantic brains. A leviathan is quite an expensive unit to birth. It requires for a large asteroid or a dwarf planet to be consumed. First the celestial body is seeded with a self sustaining imperium ecosystem, then they go about accumulating biomass to feed into a Behemoth birthing pod, which in turn incubates the Leviathan and births it.

CallumStephenDiggle

I just like to consistently get things out quickly for you lovely lot, but thank you, Davide! And thank you very much ☺️ I’m glad you like them.

Lukak

Holy All-Mother the detail is stunning, I just got lost in the page for 10 minutes straight:o

CallumStephenDiggle

Thanks ☺️ I’m glad to hear that you’re spending a bit of time with it, I definitely did!

Lukak

I must have wildly underestimated how many over fathers there are, assuming there are 100/150 krakens per leviathan and we see 3 of them, which I assume are not the whole fleet(maybe half?) nor every otherfather is present (30% are in the mega fleet?), I’d ballpark the total amount of other fathers to be around 2000/3000? I must have not followed the story well enough I thought there were like 100/200 of them hahahah

Erika Spooner

Who's willing to bet that the tubes on the Leviathan hold Krakens instead of Anomalacari? Also, how powerful do you think the dish cannons on the Leviathan are? Do you think that some Overfather's don't take on a basic human body plan, what if they can shapeshift via psionic powers?

CallumStephenDiggle

If I was to give a rough guesstimate, I’d say 179 km tall & 540 km wide. perhaps a little bit larger. Put it this way, if it landed on earths moon, you’d definitely be able to see it from your house.

CallumStephenDiggle

A Leviathan has approximately 518 krakens in its arsenal. An Over-Father is very rarely operating a kraken, Imperium Krakens are almost always operated remotely. There is actually only one Over-Father present that is overseeing this entire Invasion force. I haven’t got an exact number on the amount of Over-Fathers that currently exist, but if I had to say, I’d say between 40-60. If you’re guessing the amount of Over-Fathers judging by the amount of Imperium controlled systems, then I’m going to do a new (canon) map of the galaxy retconning the last map that I made, so ignore that previous one. This new one is going to have little panels showing multiple conglomerate and non-conglomerate worlds and cities, so that’s something to look forward to.

CallumStephenDiggle

1) You’d be correct! 2) I’ll tell you this much, you wouldn’t want to be on the wrong side of it. 3) There are some very unique Over-Fathers and some do have unique abilities also.

Erika Spooner

Could you describe some of those without spoilers?

The Mysterious Mark

Shit, this is wild. Every time I think the universe can't get more grand or psychedelic you pull something like this on me.

Lukak

Ahh now I understand, I thought that for each kraken we saw there was a overfather controling it, can’t wait to see the map, love your world building!!

Erika Spooner

I wonder how regular Krakens are born, and what is the Imperium ecosystem like, I'd imagine it being like those fairy tale tropes were the forest is concious or something except their mass manufacturing horrors beyond your comprehension.

Captain_Torres

Wait wait, so does every Kraken have an Overfather commanding it? Or does one Overfather command several Krakens?

Miningation

Overfathers command many krakens and are rarely actually within one of them. there is only actually 1 overfather overseeing this entire invasion force

CallumStephenDiggle

Haha cheers mate, there’s a lot more where that came from, I haven’t even got to half the stuff I want to get to yet!

CallumStephenDiggle

It does not, a Kraken barely ever has an Over-Father commanding it physically, they more often than not are controlled/directed remotely via a psionic link to their designated Over-Father. There is actually only one Over-Father leading this entire invasion force. Each Over-Father has control over an entire star system, they have a core world within each system called a Womb-World. A Womb-World operates as a central base of operations and production, from their personal Womb-World an Over-Father expands outwards into the system consuming all resources to produce new units for himself to command over. Once enough forces are amassed, its time to conquer a new system. Once that new system is captured, an exemplary Drone within the Over-Fathers ranks is “named” by their father and exalted to the ascendant state of Over-Father where he will carry the baton on in a new system. And so the cycle goes ♻️

CallumStephenDiggle

I’ll keep that close to my chest for now, it’s something to be revealed later on ☺️

CallumStephenDiggle

I’m glad I could clear that up ☺️ I can’t wait to show it to you, it’s something I’ve been wanting to do for a while. Perhaps I’ll put some time aside after this invasion sequence to make it.

CallumStephenDiggle

Krakens are grown on Womb-Worlds like the vast majority of Imperium units. Haha yes, precisely!
