Something to consider: The more modern a sub topic, the less history and unclassified information there is to work with. This effects the level of detail I can go into.

Alan Massey

Oberon would be a fantastic choice as it was used by numerous nations and was the product of extensive WWII and early cold war experience.

I'd love to hear about the foxtrots and whiskeys. I'm a sucker for the smoke boats.

Andrew MacDougall

seems like the alfa is winning, with the kilo in second place. can we agree to do those two in order before having a poll for the next?

James Baker

Have you done one on the Foxtrot? Old, but there sure were a lot of them and they figured heavily in the Cuban missile crisis

The Wells Report

I'm just glad that we're finally getting to the time when we can learn about these amazing vehicles. From someone who has been there/done that. One.... I'd like to learn about the improvements between the Nautilus and the 578 Class. Along that same line I'm looking forward to learning about the breathtaking quantum technology leaps between 578 & 593....Also, from the outside, the 637 class seems to be the one that did the lion's share of US SSN dominance during Cold War operations, yet you hear the least about. Hmmmm.....

Andrew MacDougall

I think he's said he doesn't want to do US boats for fear of inadvertently disclosing something he shouldn't.

Chronus

Thanks Jive! Would you consider doing a special on experimental subs, or clandestine Soviet subs?

El Portal24

I think the Nautilus is old enough that no secrets would be revealed. I personally, and anyone can walk through it in its mooring in CT.

Seahour

Yeah I've heard both ways (yay and nay) from Jive. Its a plot to raise hype! LOL :)

Tobias Hanak

Yeah, but wouldn't that actually make it interesting? So finally someone like Jive could talk about interesting stuff from the Nautilus and technology back then and how it behaved. Would be interesting! :)

El Portal24

You got me wrong, I think it would be very interesting for what you just mentioned. In many ways it is still more advance than many subs like those from NK. And some in that vintage had some interesting capabilities. But so much is still non-public info, that is hard to find. Back about 10 years ago I was working in Groton and had access to many who had serve in that era and they were very tight lipped about those old subs.
