We went in blind to this movie. All these years and the only thing we knew about The Thing was the poster. But this may be one of our all time favorites! Let us know your thoughts on everything! Especially the ending 😭😭😭 happy halloween!

yesss one of my favorite movies

joel

finaly i told you would enjoy this film and one of the best practical effects films ever made and sry for always going on about trying to get you to react to it lol and i dont know if you have seen american werewolf in london 1981 another good film and has the best practical effects werewolf change. going to sit down and enjoy your reaction now hope you all doing ok and have a great halloween.

BRIDGECO

lol we have not seen american werewolf but its funny cause at the very end of this when i was trying to watch the credits amazon automatically tried switching to that movie 😂 i'll definitely get it written down for future movie contenders!

KayJayO

In the 2011 one they did all practical and then the studio made them scrub it all and replace it with cgi, it’s so unfortunate

KayJayO

also you should check out the void if you want more cosmic horror and practical effects

MrDweirdo

I'm equal parts surprised you've never seen this and glad you haven't because we get to watch :D

Andrew Taylor

in that last scene childs has no cold breath but macready does...

joel

well there you go meant to be anther reaction lol yer add it to the list coz think you will both like it like and like i said another good practical effects film and it would be interesting to see your reaction to the thing 2011 but like you said in this reaction will not be as good because they use cgi.

Abby

I just want you two to know that Aesthetically I really prefer the 2 circles… but in a pinch for time always the pip is welcome! You two are the best editors and reactors ever! The clips you stick in and your sense of humor is so like mine. I appreciate it so much!!! Keep doing you!

BRIDGECO

I’ll definitely be doing more that way lol will likely just depend on timing/how much Bridgette or I move around during reaction and all 😂 thank you for watching 💜

djburnette87

Omfg. When y'all sang secret tunnel in unison I got a chub. Avatar for life

joel

thats a good shout didnt know anything about it and it popped up on amazon and somene described it as a mix of hellraiser/lovecraft/Assault on Precinct 13 worth adding to the list.

Wesley Lambert

The 2011 thing is actually pretty decent. Yes the effects don’t hit as hard as this one as you seen lol but the trailer didn’t do it justice. It’s a great watch especially after watching this one! I recommend it

They both do. Childs' is just less visible. It's really just one of those endings that were left deliberately ambiguous. No hints, no clues, only paranoia.

NOT Chase Lonergan

The end is so great in it's no definite answers. Carpenter has said there is an answer on who it is but will never say. Other speculation on it being Childs apart from the breath thing is that there is a theory the liquor bottle mcready gives him is another molotov and not liquor so when childs drinks it and has no reaction mcready knows and that's why he lets out that little chuckle

Bryce Addler

After watching season 4 of the boys the two headed thing reminds me of the man who can duplicate

Aaron Farrell

I think you two would really like slither. It's got some good practical stuff. It's also a pretty fun horror comedy done by James Gunn.

Ash

Happy Halloween! As a horror girly of 20+ years, this one still gets me ( tentacles ugh). The practical is so good and gross. Side note The Fly is another I have to "steel" myself before watching.

Sean O'Neill

I miss the days of really well done practical effects. CGI can be amazing, but it’s way overused today. A great blend of CGI and Practical produces some amazing results. Stranger Things did this with Vecna. He looks so great because he’s mostly practical and augmented using CGI. Today, CGI can be used to amazing effect to make the more goofy practical shots look much better. Of course even practical technology has come a long way since 1982. Either way, this movie is in my top 10 best movies of all time. It’s such a great tension filled story in a naturally isolated place. Genius.

Rachel Venos

The 2011 one is pretty good. I have to admit that I watched that one first and then this one, and this one does indeed slap harder. You guys should watch the OG from 1951, "The Thing From Another World." It's based on the same novella as this one and it's a bit of a laugh.

James Skelton

Imagine seeing it in the theater as a kid. HOLY FUCK.

Izanne

One of my favorite movies! So glad y’all watched it and enjoyed it!

Izanne

Oh man you have to watch The Fly! It’s soooo great too (and gross) lol

James Skelton

The chest mouth and the spider head haunted me for years.

Bob

The best practical FX of all time, IMO.

Bob

Also, FX artist Rob Bottin who did this film was only TWENTY TWO years old when he designed the FX. And The Fly and The Blob are probably the best horror remakes of all time, hands down.

Danny

U guys mentioned slither u guys should totally watch it it’s one of my childhood favourites its a really fun watch

Shawn

The remake is worth watching...it's a good movie. It will not take the place of this one for you though. This one is a classic for a reason.

Dustin Ferris

the added door sound scared me thanks lol ~19:30

Dirge Girl

More John Carpenter... please and thank you. 8D

Patrick R.

That dog -- whose name was Jed -- should have gotten an Oscar, and I don't care what anyone says. Top 3 animals in film, period.

Dirge Girl

Cross-Contamination by the Perfect Imitation...

Brittany Jackson

It is a Tuesday when I'm watching this!! 🤣😂
