I’m on Lin’s side here. I do some work with people in recovery, or people who say they are. Sometimes, you get someone who isn’t willing to work to make things right. They want the past to immediately be the past. They want their families to trust them. They want immediate expungement of their records. They want their kid back. And stuff like that takes time and apologies. Su waved everything off with “I wasn’t perfect” rather than “I’m sorry for the permanent scar.” Lin is a big believer in justice. You do something wrong, you get punished. I was raised similarly.

i would agree if that was 5 years ago, it was 30 my guy, 30 years is 100 percent enough time for a teenager who lives on the dangerous side and is close to being a criminal, to become a loving mother , sister and daughter

Time doesn’t make a difference in my opinion. She wants the “I’m a different person” without the “I’m sorry. I was wrong.” Admitting wrongdoing is always necessary, no matter how long it has been. Even her apology “I’m sorry I gave you such a hard time” was half assed. It doesn’t matter how much you change if you don’t apologize properly. And I think her becoming a good person and having such a charmed life without being punished for her past is what bothered Lin the most. Like I said, Lin believed in justice and consequences and thinks Su got off easy.

I'm on both sides, and instead blame Toph. She always had a stubborn streak and seemed indifferent to other people's feelings. Here, she screwed one daughter by sending her away and making her a flighty person who avoided consequences while devaluing and damaging her other daughter who was, ya know, actually obeying the law and not giving family a pass.
