Why did i feel so bad for him during the therspist scene

Kit Taylor

My new band is going to be called "Sinful Cold Cuts".

Kit Taylor

I definitely cried and didn't feel guilty. My Mom passed away from complications of Schizophrenia. From what I know about the story, Ed was actually severely mentally ill. I will say though that it is EXTREMELY difficult for a show to find the right balance between portraying a deviant murderer and making the audience sympathize with them. A lot of shows have tried and failed. Waco: Madman Or Messiah attempted to make us feel bad for David Koresh and failed miserably, at least for me. I stopped watching halfway through. But somehow this show found the perfect balance between horror and sympathy. Charlie Hunnam is a big part... phenomenal performance. Looking forward to the last episode! Great work as always.

im disappointed by the huge wild inaccuracies in this show

Donna Raphael

Ok, this is wholly inaccurate of the trans experience from what I have read and been told, but Jesus Hunnam is crazy good in this. The story is totally fake, though Gein was very mentally ill. My worry is that people will think trans people are like this and not that this man was very sick. But hell Charlie is captivating.

BRIDGECO

i feel like thats specifically what i got from it though, they're addressing the public through gein himself thinking "oh i'm trans this is a trans thing" and having someone trans straight up talk to him, hear him and say "no this isnt trans at all, you have other mental illness"

Pat_Bez

I think he's just a "crossdresser" but I get what they're going for and I'd like to think MOST people are smart enough to NOT just think "trans equals bad"....but I'm sure there'll be some.

Pat_Bez

Im gonna keep suggesting "SOA" until it happens lol 😉 It really is right up your alley. I think you've mentioned you saw S1 way back when, but it only gets better. And there's actually some pretty big horror icons in that show, too

Donna Raphael

I hope that it is interpreted that way as well. As we know, it’s a very rough time out there for trans folks.

Donna Raphael

Also, love you guys and I love how kind you two are. I hope that my previous comments weren’t taken that I thought either of you thought that way! Y’all are smart, I know you get it. :)

i have schizophrenia, the therapy scene made me cry so hard and i know from experience that religious parents make the condition so much worse, its like were already paranoid then we have to worry about god, hell and satan on top of it? no thank you

GrayAlien

im also super interested to see if hes all doped out in the next episode, as someone whos had to take those meds, they make you a zombie

Emily Rose

If I was a nurse watching a mass murderer that wore women’s skin I’d try to be nice so he wouldn’t snap and kill me lol

Dawn

I cried so hard watching it the first time and had mixed emotions about it. I cried watching it again, but only during the last part with the therapist. I feel like that shows they made a breakthrough and for those of us who have been in therapy, that is something we can identify with somewhat.

The best book out there on Ed Gein is 'Deviant: The Shocking True Story of the Original "Psycho"' by Harold Schechter. Also, John Douglas's memoir 'Mindhunter' has some interesting information on his interview with Ed Gein.
