SHE DID WHAT!!?!?

Regina Diana

THE CLOD HEARD AROUND THE WORLD!!!

Wispa

AHHHH!!! YELLOW

Ajay b

My fav episode!!😆

Andy

So proud of P-Dot

Liam Gradwell

Oh here we go. This is it. The moment Peridot’s “Clod” broke the Sound Barrier! 🤩💚

Luke Teasdale

She just basically equated her Queen to a clump of useless dirt... TO HER FACE this is why peri is best girl.

Alex

Calling your boss a clod and rewatching the same episode over and over again, a true icon. Peridot will always be the self proclaimed main character of the show who defeated the child safety lock.

Kass

the earth isn't curved around realistically, it's completely different from earth. theres a ton of differences and some countries don't even exist on the map. the fandom wiki has all the differences from our earth listed to this earth (I'd recommend having someone else look first to avoid spoilers from the wiki) (all the differences were caused by the gem war and stuff)

AriOwl

To be clear, there is definitely not a giant hole in Russia irl

Simon Davis

"Love how the map's not stretched onto a flat piece of paper... Russia doesn't normally bend around like that..." Or... Russia's got a massive HOLE in it with a Gem structure in the centre, in this world! O_o Love these implicit, un-emphasised little bits of worldbuilding in the show. Like nope, Homeworld absolutely did not care what they did to the existing life on the planet.

Ferret

Mosco, there is no giant sea in the middle of Russia in our world. There's a lot of subtle differences on this map in coastlines and such but there's also fully a hole in the middle of Eurasia that doesn't exist in real life.

Nuk Limpear

The sigh I let out at that part... like GIRL... I'm pretty sure South America doesn't normally have the western third of Africa attached to it. Nor is Canada an archipelago, nor is Australia heavily flooded, nor does it have JAPAN Right Next To It - to name just a few. It's kinda hilarious that this is meant to be the reveal of just how much damage to the planet these ancient alien invaders have done before they were stopped, and it just WHOOSHED right over Mosco's head 😂

Possum_shenanigans

Wait she is now uploading 3 episodes of SU at once, or was today an exception? :0

LikeCat

I think it is today exeption. (The last three episodes of Season 2)

A Magic Duck

Peridot just gets better and better. In a way she’s the only gem with a real, full character arc. Garnet, Amethyst, and Pearl are all basically the same characters in the first episode to the last. We learn more about them but they don’t really change. Steven grows but his arc is basically maturing. Lapis has a bit of an arc but it’s not nearly as dramatic as Peri.

Lunalee

Finally caught up! So excited!!

PinkPonytail _Girl

The PTSD I get from the one line 'why'd I think I could change her mind' is crazy and I wander if it was a planned line. 😂😳😂

CaptainChar

thumbnail is gold, yellow even, even though im not from the UK i got the knob joke

Simon Davis

Haha, puir wee lass did say geography wasn't her subject! ^_^

LikeCat

She wasn't wrong.

dz1jgmeyer

Don't feel bad Mosco, they really pushed that angle intentionally.

Possum_shenanigans

I accuse you of a crime as well hehe - that isn't supposed to be Japan next to Australia :p You can see Japan next to the Korean peninsula, it's just that it's attached to the Chinese mainland for a change! You prolly confused it with New Zealand/Indonesia?

Nuk Limpear

1:00:54 Yeah, it is a nod. To HOMESTUCK of all things. She made a freaking shipping chart and then makes a Karkat face while ripping it in two. And before you call BS, keep in mind there were at least two MSPA fans on the show's crew (and this isn't the last time it's referenced either, though I'll talk about that when we get there).

Luke Teasdale

hey Pdot nation... we got another one

Afell Tale

As other have pointed out with the Russia hole. Brazil also has a chunk of our Africa attached to it. Peri's reveal also elicited a p e r f e c t response XD

Someday Sera

it's not just that it's dirt, it's that in essence the highest form of carbon, is a diamond, when it's been hyper compressed, and lowest form of carbon, is dirt. Peridot holds the diamonds in very high regard, they are the pinnacle of gem society in her eyes, and as such, dirt, the opposite of a diamond, is the lowest thing there is.

Someday Sera

just today, because there is an odd number of episodes, she asked about what the best pairing was last week. She did something similar with jailbreak in season 1, since it's episode 51. The rest of the seasons have even numbers of episodes so it shoudn't be an issue again.

Nuk Limpear

Oh yeah, this is a fun one to rewatch for the first time, you really end up going "ohhh, that's what she meant when she was talking to Steven in the car! Peridot, girl, you REALLY chose your wording poorly..."

Someday Sera

looking at that wiki page, it's got BIG spoilers on it, so yeah, mosco definitely shouldn't look at it. Not the locations themselves, most of which she's already seen (we've been to the place at the center of the russia hole many times already for instance, but backstory stuff in there contains big spoilers.

Someday Sera

notably, a dirt clod is more or less the exact opposite of a diamond, so it's a particularly offensive insult. Like calling a king a peasant.

Someday Sera

*not just useless dirt, but the literal opposite of a diamond (hyper compressed carbon becomes diamonds or...something of that nature, dirt is carbon in a very basic, raw form) She's calling her queen the lowliest form of common peasant, in a sense.

Markus Erdt

So we arent talking about the colossal crater where Russia used to be? ^^

David Johnson

The map shows that Steven's Earth is quite different from ours. Probably Gem geological changes as part of their plan to turn Earth into framework dodecahedron.

Spadez

Me too Mosco, I too would like to see a giant woman in giant boots. All I wanna do, is see you turn in to.... *steven whispers* a giant woman

Jankyjna

It's also banned in Russia so they took it off the map lol

Liam Gradwell

I swear. Me and Mosco have the same sense of humour. I found that joke hilarious. 🤣💜

Eliteguard99

I was about to go “woah and hour and 15 minutes? These reaction time are getting out of hand lol!” But then I noticed that it’s 3 episodes.

Annieme

Of COURSE its the boots 😂😂

Stellar Kruize

I mean... didn't she kind of shapeshift into your joke in a way? :P Cause it's a chicken and a chicken can also be called.... well... yeeeeeaaahhh lol

Racheal Yaris

I just came home from physical therapy crying to tears with tiredness. I really, really needed this today. I know it's already scheduled but it was so wonderful to come here and watch such a beautiful reaction to these episodes. Peridot is such a lovable, beautiful character in this wonderful show. It took me a little bit to be in a good enough place to watch, but these reactions make me feel so happy. Seeing someone love Peridot as intensely as you do that you apologize for her is so sweet. I love these reactions and commenting. <3

ArcticBanana

The show was banned in Russia, since homosexuality is illegal there, so they decided that, and I quote, "If Steven Universe is banned in Russia, then Russia is banned from Steven Universe."

Someday Sera

The different ruins they look at in the base near the end of it could have been great are largely places we've already seen early in season 1 the first, as you noticed, was the tower from cheeseburger backpack the second is the arena pearl uses for training connie (and where she was training and got accidentally poofed in season 1) the third is the temple where steven got the time travel thing in "steven and the stevens" (where he made a bunch of time travel duplicates of himself) I'm less sure about 4 and 5, but 6 is the communication tower from the episode where pearl was tricking garnet into fusing. The next...i'm not sure, maybe the inverted pyramid from serious steven? The last one (that you thought might be the standing stones) is the galaxy warp, the place they first met peridot in season 1, where garnet destroyed the central pad back to homeworld she'd just arrived on after her bots repaired it. (and for the map, you are thinking of a map that doesn't use the Mercator projection, which deforms the shapes of countries near the poles, resulting in things like greenland looking much larger than it really is on many maps)

HeroNotFound

Mosco looking back and pointing like “that ass is mine!”

A Dead Diehard

"The natural curvature of the earth" is a harsh but fair way to describe Russia being replaced with a smoking crater. Can't say the same about the chunk taken out of Africa that seemingly got knocked into South America

Gone

The season had an odd number of episodes so one video was gonna have to have three or one.

Arianod

So, how do you like *this* matriarchy, Mosco? 😁

ArcticBanana

Elijah: "She has a thing for big boots!" So what you're saying is, she likes big boots and she cannot lie? Peridot referred to the Diamonds as "the Diamond Authority". Back in the first season, Ronaldo mentioned a Diamond Authority in one of his unhinged conspiracy rants. Every time he talks about conspiracies, he mentions something that is actually true but isn't revealed until later, but you can't tell until after the fact because everything he says is so off the wall. It's an in-universe version of the YouTube comments making up fake spoilers to hide comments with real spoilers. If you notice on the world map, there are a number of differences from the real world, such as a chunk of western Africa attached to South America, Australia is in at least two pieces, and so on, but the most prominent and noticable is that ocean where most of Russia should be. The show was banned in Russia because of their anti-homosexuality laws, so the writers decided that, and I quote, "If Steven Universe is banned in Russia, then Russia is banned from Steven Universe."

Stellar Kruize

The Eric joke killed me 🤣 also, how long off is a Scottish vacation? A wee cough!

Arianod

Seriously, what kind of clod wouldn't love the great and lovable Peridot? ^^

Arianod

You really can't fight the Homestuck

Arianod

Yeahhh, they were totally gaslighting us.

Arianod

SO much foreshadowing

Courtney Boike

"The Great and Lovable Peridot" indeed! These were the first episodes I watched the premieres of when they aired back in 2016 (I caught most of the way up beforehand through reruns and pirating of course), and wow did they work to get me hooked--on the show and on Peridot--cause there I was tuning into Cartoon Network for every premiere from there on out! Out of all iconic moments, the Peridactyl's vicious Clod attack really is one for the ages!

peachy af

i will say, yellow diamond has by far my LEAST favorite design of all the diamonds LMFAOOOOO but tbf i do actually like the boots kinda LOL

LupinDuPaon

1:00:59 yeah I know what it is and as a miraculer I am offended *jk

peachy af

why does mosco think she shouldn't ship amedot? they're cute i dont see the issue

Matt E.

Wow thanks

Adrian

Garnets "I'm Percy and Pierre" is honestly such a good line in how it made Peridot instantly understand why she was always fused. This episode may not have had a lot of plot relevancy in it, but damn is it one of my favorites. Lowkey kinda glad you're doing this reactions well after the Amedot and (------) ship wars have died down, cause things were pretty brutal in the SU Fandom when it came to shipping back then.

Tintros

Excellent video! I realize it might be hard on the editing 'team' but the Patron subs don't seem to mind ;) -'wait right there' lol, as opposed to? -'in my little base camp' ADORABLE! This was so cute :) -Boots. Yeeeeeahh. I remember The Owl House years. :) That's what got me hooked, after Hazbin Hotel I started in on your other videos and well, here we are on Patreon. :) -Elijah outside the door - ADORABLE! -Singing together! -*Dies from the adorable*!!!!! -'Such a long reaction' - But a good one!

peachy af

HOMESTUCK REFERENCE IN SU ALL THIS TIME AND I DIDNT NOTICE???

peachy af

I disagree about amythest but yeah this is a fair statement

Nuk Limpear

Are you in the Discord server? I can tell you which episode the other reference is in, just not here so as to not spoil it for Mosco. That one is much more blatant lol

Bloodsbane

Super fun batch of episodes! Back when it first dropped, I wrote a longass tumblr post talking about Message Received and why I enjoyed it so much. I still think it's one of the best written episodes in SU. And that's because they were able to have Peridot choose Earth (and Steven and the Crystal Gems) in a way that made sense for PERIDOT as a character. It wasn't (just) the patience and kindness and song-singing, though obviously all of those things helped. All of that was enough for Peridot to come to the conclusion that Earth (and the things/people living on it) was worth protecting, but the realistic part comes from her still not 100% understanding their wildly different perspective on the matter. And how could she, in such a short time? To Peridot, it makes sense to try negotiating with Yellow because Yellow is supposed to be OBJECTIVE and LOGICAL. It's when Yellow acts SUBJECTIVE and ILLOGICAL when presented with what Peridot sees as a reasonable plan to save the Earth that Peridot finally makes a meaningful choice that lands her solidly on the side of the Crystal Gems. Something I think gets really easily overlooked in that sequence with her talking to Yellow is that Peridot even has the chance to keep her mouth shut and go home, back to her old life, because Yellow mentions sending a ship to pick her up. So it's not even that Peridot was going to be abandoned on Earth for failing her mission/wasting Yellow's time and that's why she opts to rebel - her choice wasn't one made because she had no other. That's the most important part of all this to me, and the show did a great job of writing it in a suspenseful but believable way. If you rewatch the episode and pay attention to Peridot's phrasing, her intent can come off either as betrayal and her disregarding/not understanding everything Steven and the others believe OR as her having a difference of opinion in HOW to solve the same problem (how do we stop the cluster/save Earth?) Their end goal IS the same, but Peridot simply thinks the better way to achieve that is by doing what she sees as making the most logical sense (appeal to the higher power who, if she wanted, could absolutely solve all of their problems.) Oops, I've made another longass post. But I just can't help it, I think this episode really is one of the best (which is high praise in a show with a lot of great writing.) I remember being so curious how they were going to fold Peridot into the team and if they could manage it naturally, but they knock it out of the park in my opinion!

Dinker

The best song in the show at least until after Steven and Connie have their wedding duet!

Someday Sera

I guess there was some fanbase drama back in the day about peridot ships. There was a big explanation about it on the discord server a week or so ago, it's, mildly spoilery so I won't go into it here. (i'm also not sure how much of it is actually accurate as opposed to fan headcanon drama)

ServerGlitch

Im so glad that when I watched steven universe, all I thought the internet was for was watching minecraft gaming videos 😅 glad I wasnt aware that people actually discussed things and narrowly avoided that whole mess

peachy af

mosco doesnt read comments anymore, so i think its okay maybe? idk but personally idc about fanbase drama i think peri is perfectly shippable lol

Wren Williams

In terms of the map- Russia is missing. That is because Russia cancelled Steven universe because of its queer themes, so Rebecca suger canceled Russia... From the map

Tasia Cooper

Eh. Don’t feel bad. She still was doing something she knew the others wouldn’t like and was still functionally dangerous.

BigPoppaJohn89

wat til you see Blue Diamond, total Waifu material

BigPoppaJohn89

Mosco's getting a kinky with the high heels (eyebrows eyebrows) lol

Spadez

Lol, big girl with big boots make the neurons starts firing!

Justice

I appreciate the way the insinuate peridot asecuality with her not understanding why one would be fused all the time. And through garnet appreciating how different they are, since she's someone made of the romantic love between two people, and peridot someone who doesn't do relationships (though that does sound more aro, but whatever)

Wren Williams

Peridot is canonically ace in terms of fusion (and relationships) , so we are never going to see anything I'm afraid

Vartixs

Is it really brainwashing if they are literally created with this mindset baked into them? I would call it more like pre-programming

LikeCat

I think it is pre-programming, but the Diamonds does not even allow them (and to themselfs) to change... Case and point, Peridot in this episode.

Hulk Lover

This is how I realize this is not our Earth, just based on it.

Nokomis Bracken

Don't feel bad, Mosco. We all hated her for a few minutes during this episode

WHPGeek

I don’t actually remember many ship wars in the SU fandom but I was like 11-13 when this came out, I do remember shipping Peridot with a character but it wasn’t Ami, I’m not gonna say who it was but as clue for anyone who wants to know. It’s probably the most popular non-canon ship involving Peri today.

Adrian

Yeah it got pretty bad at times. I was in hs/college during the time, and I vividly remember getting death threats and the such in my inbox just for preferring one ship over the other.

Penellope

She's not though, just towards fusions but relationships it was never canon

High Voltage

Do not agree at all like Pearl and Amethyst become much better people by the end. They very much change. Not to say they don’t retain their key characteristics but Season 1 Pearl and Amethyst aren’t the same as Season 5 Pearl and Amethyst.

SauceyRed

I'm ngl, I never paid enough attention to the map to notice any of that, and I didn't even notice anything wrong/different other than the Russia part when Mosco pointed it out lmao

SauceyRed

Same, I just never paid enough attention to the map to notice until now lmao EDIT: Okay well, I did realize that the states weren't called the same, but that's it
