Man, I just got off my 30 minute break, now I’ll have to wait a few hours.

"That's a joke very few people are going to get." I got it. ;)

"You could still white balance your camera off my skin." THE BEACONS ARE LIT! GONDOR CALLS FOR AID! Spirit Week was always so weird and the Homecoming pep rally always felt cultish. Part of the American indocrination of conformity and blind obedience. The one day I would participate was Jersey Day. I printed a map of the nortwest coast of France featuring the Bailiwick of Jersey and carried it around as a sign. You know how this will end, Mosco. The unbeatable villain is always defeated by one of two things: the power of gay, or semantics. And, well, Stella *did* say she could get a date to the dance with anyone she wants...

Part of what I loved about this episode was reminding us that Jentry is just a kid. Too many of these shows feature a protagonist who's mature beyond their years and unflappable. Jentry needed her guardian (despite everything) and just wanted to be treated as normal for a change. Breaks down twice when neither works out. Kit and Stella passing eachother going in opposite directions on the likability meter. I was so happy to see them turn Stella's character around and redeem her. Instantly Jentry's best friend and sworn protector. Might just be all the sapphic stuff I've watched on these channels, but I coulda sworn Stella was gonna suggest Jentry go to homecoming with her instead of Michael or Kit. But Jentry needed a strong girl friend in her life. Happy that Stella is that. Kit... on the other hand... goes full-blown incel "nice guy". The "not human enough for you" line... (shudders)... ick... American highschool sport culture is... wild. The athletes wear their jerseys on game day. Dress up when it's an away game. Every city in a particular division has a rival. Not just football. Volleyball is another big one. Track, soccer, swimming, diving, wtestling, etc. It's part of how the schools generate revenue. It's why so many schools focus on their athletics program. People come to the games and shell out money.

I think the point of Hat Day and seeing the rest of Spirit Week was just to show Jentry being happy being normal. My heart breaks for Kit in this episode because he wanted someone who viewed him as human and not a monster and thought Jentry would, but she rejected him just like everyone else did upon finding out. I in no way think Jentry is required to be with him and has every right to reject him. I just wish there was a better way to go about it. Kit returned to the original plan to become human because he felt like being a monster was still the problem. I don't think Jentry would take him even if he did become human. He has to move on from her. Being rejected is also part of being human and his thoughts and desires show he is perfectly human without soul, but he can't see that when he is focusing all on his flaws and differences.

This episode felt very real to American high school. Totally agree that Kit has gone pretty far down the road to unlikable. I do wish that shows were willing to have greater variety of emotional reactions from male characters getting rejected - not just 'sad and pining' and 'entitled and angry'. I'm hopeful that there will be a storyline about a male character getting rejected, and the rest of the cast watch him expecting some incel nonsense because he's avoiding them, acting awkward and weird, and have it be revealed that he's avoiding them because he really liked the person he asked out and it hurts to be around them, but he's figuring out what to do next. We've gotten much better representation of the range of female characters vs romance tropes, so I hope that the boys get a little more nuance and variety.

Crazy

I felt this episode was very out of character for Kit 😭 just felt odd seeing being so angry over everything

I've seen men turn at the drop of a hat over rejection, so it didn't seem that far removed from reality I think thats whats so scary about it

I think it makes sense for his character in that moment of his arch. Especially since he had no real world influence yet and all he knew is that he liked and wanted jentry. He didn’t realize how messed up that is, he thought it made him more human to have a “crush” not realizing it was possessive and obsessive the way he was behaving and thinking
