I do recomend watching the world of remnant shorts too maybe after vol 1 or mixed in throughout vol 1-3. They give lots of lore about the world on how stuff works.

I'm surprised Elijah didn't mention it, but one thing to keep in mind with this show is that every single character in it is based on fairy tales, myths or other old stories. I'll leave it up to you though to figure out who is based on who.

2:55 - You know the saying about being easier to ask for forgiveness than for permission. 14:16 - "You gotta wonder how much money went into just animating fight sequences." At this particular point, I believe it was approximately between very little and none. Monty could do a lot with very little. 19:45 - I always loved how the trailers show off the strengths of the girls' fighting styles, where the other girls each fought a horde of mooks, and Weiss got a Dark Souls boss. Ruby is a balanced fighter between long and close range against singles opponents and groups; Weiss excels in single combat and taking advantage of elemental weaknesses; Blake is a fast-moving close to mid-range combatant who works well with a partner; and Yang is the tanky frontline brawler. 21:12 - Ooh, that visual there where the light looks like a tear. 30:20 - Yeah, I think there are only two or three exceptions to the "It's also a gun" thing. 39:40 - Yang's lanky build is definitely due to the art and animation style, but she's still more visibly fit than the other three. There is a lot of "Muscular Yang" fan art though. 41:06 - It's almost certainly a complete coincidence, but the Alani brand of energy drinks has a Strawberry Sunrise flavor. 44:30 - WARNING! DO NOT look up the different ship names for the characters! Pretty much every character in the series, and I mean EVERY character, is shipped together, and a lot of them are pretty big spoilers. This show has a huge cast. Not, like, Bleach huge, but pretty big. 51:50 - The sisters aren't shipped together at all in the show, but there is a fan ship name for them (I haven't looked it up but I think it's "Enabler"). Like I said, the fans have shipped EVERYBODY with EVERYBODY. Every possible couple, throuple, and polycule possible has a ship name.

Haven't finished the video yet, but clicking on it and seeing that this video was an hour long surprised me since there is like a total of maybe 10-20 minutes of actual footage to react to and I was like "what could they possibly do to make this an hour?" If you want more lore watch then watch The World of Remnant shorts! They give more lore for you! I’d wait until vol.1 is over though. Kinda spread them out over the other volumes a little. You’re gonna love this show!!!!

I'm going to have to rewatch the Dead Fantasy series after this. Monty Oum's big project outside RWBY — Dead or Alive meets Final Fantasy in absurd over-the-top brawling. It sucks that we're never going to get to see where they were going.

(Patreon broke!) So I haven't watched the series yet and know very little about it (and am largely avoiding Elijah's reactions in case I do), but one thing that stuck out to me with the trailers, along with the very stylised look especially in Ruby's, was how Ruby and Weiss' trailers were drawing very heavily on fairytale elements - Red Riding Hood and wolves for Ruby, Snow White (mirror, "loneliest of them all", the name...) for Weiss - but the other two didn't do so nearly as much (Yang = Goldilocks, maybe?). Kind of feels like there was only half of a theme going on? I'm assuming that's _a thing_ for the series, so will be interested to see how it develops for the other characters. (This is not a question and I'm not fishing for info that would be a spoiler for Mosco, for the avoidance of doubt)

Monty believed on both parties taking hits it's shown more in the series but for the trailers Wiess and Yangs trailers show it the most. Why have the whole main cast be so op that they shouldn't get hit once it gets boring quickly. And rest in peace Monty we will always remember you through your voice in a character. You were taken too soon from us.

So while I'm sure Elijah has told you some things here's a spoiler free rundown: The Red Trailer was completely animated by the series creator, Monty Oum, who choreographed the shows fights for the first two volumes. Sadly, Monty passed away between Volumes 2 and 3 due to an allergic reaction and now his friends and coworkers keep the series going. The music for this show is done by the Williams family. Jeff Williams wrote the music, and his daughter, Casey Lee, does the majority of the vocals (including Weiss' singing voice). Jeff, of course, comes in for any male vocals. This father daughter duo were killer, though Casey took over writing the music when her dad retired after Volume 8. Casey was also only around 13 when she sang for these trailers. For anyone curious, Blake’s weapon is called a ballistic variant chain scythe. It’s a katana that collapses into a gun on a ribbon, and the sheathe doubles as a cleaver. Yang’s trailer is my favorite (I’m a sucker for hand to hand combat) and I think it’s a nice touch that the music goes through club remixes of the other trailer songs before ending on a remix of Yang’s own theme. Fun fact: Each character is based on a fairytale/legend/story.

Almost every character has a fairy tale inspiration. I'll just say it outright, since it's not a spoiler- you're right about Yang being Goldilocks. The guy in the bear mask is the biggest hint, but Yang's blonde hair, the mob boss' nickname being "Junior", and the fact that the gang is credited as the Xiong Family- Xiong being Chinese for "bear"- are also clues. Blake (and Adam) are also fairy-tale allusions, but they're easily the easiest to miss.
