Finale of volume 3. Bring tissues. That is all

Deanie

So excited, one of my favourite songs are in this reaction (Caffeine)

Dafydd Mac an Leigh

I love that for all Neo's flash and grace, she's a practical, "know when to fold 'em" kind of fighter. She immediately knew she was outclassed by the woman in red, so she didn't even try to fight.

.

I know she doesn't read comments anymore, but I have to point out that Blake's semblance being fire/earth/ice was due to the dust Weiss gave her. It's not part of her ability but her ability can be enhanced with dust just like that. Which is pretty cool.

Rob Bob

If I remember correctly I have seen some homebrew rule sets for a RWBY themed D&D campaign online. I've never look too deeply into it but it may be worth a look if you're interested in running a campaign in that setting.

Celly

Just a hint, when you get to finale volumes always watch until the end of the credits. There is an end-credits scene in this chapter (and others have certain endearing tidbits in the credit rolls) . Given your thoughts during this chapter you will enjoy seeing it even if it didn't make it to your reaction. There are two later volumes that don't have end-credit scenes, but I'm sure we will let you know when you get to them :)

Dani

Btw you missed an end credit scene at the end !

Isadora

Just a reminder, for the future, that all volume finale (except volume 7) have a small scene after the credits. Volume 2 is more of a dream sequence that isn't really considered canon, so it's not as important.

Dustin Mason

When are you reacting to Ducktales?

Rod

Good Afternoon from Toronto: 2 things: 1 - RWBY always show the volume Intro at the end of the first chapter because of spoilers 2 - There is always (well usually) an after credits scene on the final chapter of each volume. And yes the writing is frequently great. The music is definitely worth reviewing as well.

Armando Reyes

You forgot to watch the end credits

Deanie

I hope Mosco gets informed about the end credits scene and any world of remnants that have been missed. I'd love to see them before V3 starts

Mitchell Watts

It's funny you mention a D&D campaign set in this world, as the creators of the show actually did run a game of D&D in the RWBY world for two seasons of it's own show. However it does contain some minor background spoilers so i would not recommend watching until later on in the show.

Brandon Dodge

Wasn't there an after credits scene in Volume 2?

Jonathan Morgan

Zwei is the dog of a Huntsmen family. He's got his Aura unlocked and everything.

BGTitan

Ep11: Love that Blake was the one that was asked to cut the train car attachment. She has some experience in that area after all. looks at Black Trailer Lol I don't think it's that the Fang are that easy to manipulate, it's that they have orders to do a job and follow Torchwick's call so they just kind of... tolerate his racism. Which sucks but... I mean. Shaking hands with the devil and all that. All living things have aura. Zwei belongs to a family full of Huntsmen and has been trained to probably use it. So he survives big boom. Neo really is the worst kind of match up for Yang. Yang is a very straightforward fighter. And while she is not an idiot and can come up with strategy, she's also running on next to no sleep and is in a very enclosed space. Neo is also such an avoidant fighter, basically toying with Yang and redirecting her attacks. And when Yang does finally get a hold of her and start to figure out how Neo works, Neo stops playing around and ends the fight before that can become a problem. It was just a bad match up, man. But a necessary one to show that even Yang isn't invincible. Love that as soon as Mystery Person showed up Neo was just like "nope, I am not messing with that" and fled. Too high a power level, grind some more and come back lol. Showing off how the Dust can intertwine with Blake's semblance is so cool man. Ep 12: And we get to see Team CFVY (Coffee) in action. Literally too cool for words. Sun and Neptune have been dubbed Team Hot and Useless by some fandom members. And so, the after credits scene for this volume is sort of non-canon. This scene in particular was something Monty was working on before his passing and never got to tell his team what exactly it was supposed to lead to. So instead of scrapping it, they kind of turned it into a dream sequence. You didn't see it but just a heads up.

Wildgameseeker1

At 13:00 Zwei activated his aura to protect himself and become the fire ball

Wildgameseeker1

Neo's eyes showed her emotion of fear since she's also a mute but it's mostly connected to her semblance

CrowOfAFeather

Alright, here we go! The finale of V2! :D She probably won't read this, but anywho: *Neo has heterochromia and can indeed change eyecolour, but it's not Silver! We've seen her Semblance before when she was first introduced :) *It's Silver, not grey, that has a meaning. *Always love to see Dust being incorporated into Semblances like with Blake and Weiss' Dust! *Mystery character yay! *"Why would you pretend to help?" They're still pretending to be students. And Torchwick set the train plan in motion ahead of schedule. *Zwei, like all living beings, have Aura that protects them. He's a good boy! I'm absolutely loving your theories and eye to detail as always!

NERD!

It is kinda funny how distrustful Moscow is, she never even thinks that when Torchwick said he stole the mechs he was being honest.

Arashi

"Don't be a sheep." Hmm.. is that racist to say to a faunus? :p Oh... it's pretty much accepted that Zwei has an active aura. Don't... don't think too hard on the mechanics of it. :) First fight with Neo... and she dominates it. She's not an official huntress, but she's skilled enough to be. Blake was using the dust Weiss had given her to modify her shadow clones. She can't just do it at will, alas. Gray eyes exist, but they are very separate from Ruby's. As Ozpin said before. "You have silver eyes." Gray is normal, Silver is... notable. Neo does not have silver eyes, just gray (sometimes). Should watch the World of Remnant minis, they cover a lot of the 'everybody knows this' lore that the CRWBY didn't ham-fist into the series. Though possible offline as other reactors have had issues with YouTube on posting them. Careful though, some WoR topics are related to the volume chapters they were released after so some degree of spoilers would be in them if you hit them too soon. While you missed the end credits scene for Vol 2, this particular one is... sort of not cannon anymore? Who it involves, how they look and their relationships are the same, but what was intended to be seeded here was scrapped so.... *shrugs*

man-of-bvz1n3ss

So this should be the episode where she stops being suspicious of Ironwood...

man-of-bvz1n3ss

Also, no, Neo's grey eyes were indeed an animation error.

Wil DeYoung

"What was that Zwei? Ruby fell down a well?!"

Magikltrevr

Fun fact time! Neo was originally going to be voiced by Sarah Silverman, but that deal fell through so Neo just didn't have any spoken lines. Fans liked it so much that Neo officially became mute in canon.

Wil DeYoung

They all do except for volume 9. I hope she sees this and at least reacts to the credits scene before volume 3 because the V2 one is kind of SUPER important.

Luke Teasdale

This isn't a spoiler, but Ruby and Yang Share a Dad, they have different mothers.

Zero Blazer Gaming

You Missed the Post credit scene. These one at the end of most volumes.

AJ

There are a few unofficial RWBY tabletop RPGs out there and an official board game called "RWBY: Combat Ready." It's probably hard to come by right now with the IP rights changeover. But if you can find it, its supposed to be pretty good. Also, there are a couple of video games.

Benjamin Sones

FYI: Watch all the way through the end credits of the last episode of a volume, because they almost always have an after-credits scene. (This one did).

EDHPlayer

Every one but 7 and 9 had post-credits scenes

EDHPlayer

I’m well aware Mosco doesn’t read the comments but I wanna point out that Oobleck saying “decouple the caboose” is an inside joke for the RoosterTeeth team. Oobleck’s VA was one of the original founders and played a main character in the series “Red vs Blue” named Caboose.

Ryan

You and Elijah made the exact same face when Zwei became a projectile weapon. Isn't it obvious? The mysterious figure who saved Yang is Weiss from the future, in her goth phase. Mosco is wise not to trust anything... "I don't trust it!" is going to be this show's "Catra, NO!" Oh, look, it's Masky McMask-face. I'm going to go out of a limb here and say that he's going to be Mosco's *favorite* character... Mosco has so many questions... 🔵 🔵

LikeCat

Volume 9 had that Chapter 11 animatic which kinda counts.

JAMES D'ALESSANDRO

It's not a well known fact so I get why you were surprised, but Corgis are great in battle. They are basically War dogs. Ruby has silver eyes. Neo has the Pink and brown, but can shape shift somehow with glass i think. Well she does shape shift, so she can change her eye color. I never understood exactly how her semblance works. Not sure how leaving a glass replica of herself and shapeshifting is related. I am sure someone in the comments can better explain it. As far as Blake killing anybody. Make no mistake. Team RWBY, Dr.Ublek, and Zwie killed a bunch of the White Fang members. Many of them didn't make it out.

LikeCat

Her Semblance is „Overactive Imagination" basically it boils down to that she can create physical illusion (the „glass") on herself - the „shapeshifting" and the „teleportation" - With enough hits her illution literally „breaks"

Phoenix_mercury

Tbf why wouldn't zwei have an unlocked aura? He's the dog of a huntsman🤷 at minimum it's a safety thing, she's planning on thr WoR's(discussed in the discord)

Phoenix_mercury

On thr Yang v neo thing, doubly bad match up with Yang being a puncher Vs neo avoid and kick(hands are occupied after all) instead

Phoenix_mercury

Severe case of fk that! Immediate dip out

Raiku Yuri

I don't think her eyes were a mistake. Neo is known to be able to change her eye colors from pink, brown and white like neapolitan ice cream. on multiple occasions her eyes will switch colors usually switching which side has the pink and brown. In this scene Neo was genuinely afraid which could explain why her eyes switched to there white color from the there usual brown and pink.

ArcticBanana

13:00 - I don't recall if they ever explain how it happened, but Zwei has unlocked his Aura. But also, it's Zwei. He was mailed to Ruby in a tube and knows how to use a can opener. Best to just not question anything about him at this point. 36:16 - Finally, the proper introduction of Team CVFY (pronounced "coffee"). Cardin is lucky that Velvet just walked away when he was bullying her in "Jaundice" instead of laying his ass out, because it looks like any single one of them, Velvet included, could fold Cardin's entire team like laundry. 39:30 - Dr. Oobleck's thermos/flamethrower is named Antiquity's Roast, and Professor Port's blunderbuss battleaxe is Blowhard. Professor Goodwitch's crop is The Disciplinarian.

Jittercritter

(Spoilers?) Also white eyes aren’t the same as silver eyes. There’s a character much later who has white eyes

Jittercritter

Is that even available to watch anymore? I never got around to it :(

man-of-bvz1n3ss

DVD commentary confirmed it was an error, so no.

man-of-bvz1n3ss

I'm aware of the difference. Mosco got confused by Neo's "white eyes" and thought she had Silver Eyes, and asked the comments to let her know if it was an animation error. I am doing so.

man-of-bvz1n3ss

Albeit this Volume's stinger isn't canon.

Mitchell Watts

On Youtube there is a channel called TheVinelcon Guy who is posting a episode every month. In the latest video in the comments some one asked where he got them from and he provided a link to all the episodes in folders. Hope that helps :)

Geass

The masked woman is Ruby from the future. She came back in time to prevent a tragedy, but to avoid causing too much damage to the timeline, she is keeping her interactions to a minimum. She otherwise hides with the time portals. Yang was supposed to die today, so she saved her. The changing eye color is a family quirk they got from their father. Neo's changing eye color is something unrelated. I believe it was just a sign that she was caught off guard.

Geass

7:09 You realize, some of them may actually be sheep or cows.

Hi-Viz

Well the mysterious person is Ruby's (other) mother obviously

Cinder's Apologist

bless you for saying that about the writing of RWBY. too many idiots out there trashing RWBY for the writing one way or another and often because they're parroting some other idiot that trashed the show for the stupidest reasons. we need more people like you uplifting the writing even in the early days of this show, because you are correct - for an indie production with obviously low budget, the writing is remarkably quite good and really holds up in more places than you expect as you get further along. there are many things that are foreshadowed or hinted at, and many things that will come full circle in volumes down the road, which I know sounds like any show but. RWBY just does it in such a fascinating manner and it really is a layered story, and the great tragedy is that too many fans clearly didn't deserve such a great show because they expected something else... or something simpler and ultimately mundane.

Silverbell_TTV

There's another small little Red vs Blue reference when Dr Oobleck says "Blake, detach the caboose!" Joel Heyman, Dr Oobleck's voice actor, also voices a character named Caboose in Red vs Blue. I remember in the commentaries, when they got to Yang's line, "Yay...teamwork, camaradie, go team..." 'cause she's so tired after all that, they said something like, "Yeah, that's pretty much how we felt during the crunch time at the end of this volume, trying to get everything ready for the DVD." The song "Caffeine" that plays when Team CFVY shows up is one of my favorites from this show. ^_^

Wilhelm Hedin

Nooooo! You missed the after credits snippet at the last episode! 😭 I only saw it cause I realised "hmm, there's WAY too many minutes left"...

Hotaru Tomoe

I’m kind of glad she skipped it, because that scene got retconned out. It would’ve conflicted with later events. I always skip it myself.

Faroth

Ch11 is funny going back. Oobleck recognized the dog since he is friend with thai, and he knew the truth about it monty said at the moment that zwei has a semblance that make it smarter and very resilient, almost indestructible, so oobleck knew how to weaponized perfectly as a cannonball

Faroth

39:00 the amazing thing of coco's aura on her bullets, she killed 3 nevermore and 1 deathstalker in a single burst of her minigun that took all team rwby to kill 1 nevermore and all team jnpr to kill 1 deathstalker in v1, girl is op

Faroth

Just if someone reads this someday for a dnd campaign using team rwby and team jnpr, usi g 2024 rules of dnd 5e: - Ruby: aasimar, soldier, fighter2 and then go warlock 5[archfey] with pact of the blade using a halberd skinned as a scythe, booming blade and repelling blast and eldritch blast as a gun, full charisma and dex, dump str, can move, fly and teleport using misty step and reach weapon with cleave - Weiss: high elf , entertainer, wizard [bladesinger], full intelligence and high dex but dump str and con, her dust and glyphs are her spells and can use rapier too to go melee - Blake: drow, criminal, rogue [assasin] , max dex and wisdom, so high perception and use 2 daggers or a shortsword and daggers to throw, cunning action to disengage and evasion+uncanny dodge is her semblance - Yang: orc, entertainer (gladiator), barbarian [Berseker], can go in rage as her semblance to do extra damage and frenzy to get advantage to hit but gets exposed too, receive half damage in rage, dualwield lighthammers that can be thrown two with dualwieldingfeat for more attacks per turn since have nick property Jaune: human with the healer feat, farmer (?), paladin [redemption], high charisma and constitution focused on tanking hits and heal and protect allies, get sword master later Nora: halfling, urchin, barbarian [Storm Herald:sea], can use lightning damage on her hits, or alternatively, use cleric(tempest) which is basically thor which nora is based on, but barbarian fits her too, using a maul Pyrrah: human with the lucky feat, gladiator, fighter [battle master] with shorsword and shield, max dex and constitution, use maneuvers to control the fight Ren: wood elf, artisan (chef), monk [openhand or ascend dragon], use dex weapons, max wisdom and dex, very straight forward there, can throw daggers too

Faroth

team rwby has a high movility team with high creativity options including a wizard, so they can attack from all directions since ruby teleports and flys, yang has extra speed and 4 attacks, blake has extra speed in bonus action and weiss can set up aoe from afar orset up blake or yang with haste, while casting spells. team jnpr has it diferently, they need to stay close to each other, jaune has auras as a paladin, ren can move front and back quicklyas a monk but strategically stays near jaune for the buffs, pyrrah uses maneuver that allows to bait and switch, literally, or use shield protection fight stylealong with jaune shield master, whilenoraas a cleric sould have aoe spells with maxdamage from channel divinity or if played as a barbarian can double tap enemies nearby except when as barbarian use topple so all in melee get advantage on the enemy, so they stay close to each other while team rwby can go crazy on the battlefield since all have increased movility, even weiss during bladesong
