Steven universe fear here we are!

MattTOB

Here we are in FEAR, and it's AAAAAAAAAA

astroghost

oh gods yeah i was in girl scouts (specifically just so i knew where to get the cookies lol) and i hated it, it was AWFUL! the scout leader i had was mean and played favorites. there was one winter we had to stand outside in the freezing cold for an hour selling cookies before they'd let us go back inside, yet the leaders daughter was inside the whole time. it was HELL

Sam's Great Adventure

the way I was nervous-eating my pancakes with this one and I've already watched the episodes XD

Some Simp

I love this these epsiodes, i love this whole epilogue season honestly It's a shame some fans hate this season but all well

Marcy Wu

I finally realized the statement that spoils absolutely nothing but also absolutely everything in this series. "Steven. No!" Edit: Next Thursday y'all. I have a certain scene from The Office playing in my head.

Annieme

These two episodes are a heck of a ride to watch rn… stupid hormones. *hugs* mosco.

Jx

Oooh boy can't wait for the next two eps...

astroghost

growing pains might be my favorite episode of the entire steven universe series. i have c-ptsd and this episode resonated with me so much. i watched it for the first time when i had just uncovered repressed trauma, and it made me so emotional but also made me feel seen. i love this show so much😭

MattTOB

On a more serious note, while these episodes were releasing, it was so hard to watch SO many people write them off as "unrealistic" just because Steven becomes more violent as a result of his trauma. Like, of course that's not what happens EVERY time, but it DOES still happen!

deny

cant wait for next week..

Crazykirsch

This is where Future finally explicitly spells out the whole theme and point of itself just in-case anyone still didn't get it. Really the best examination of what life after would look like for a "chosen one", especially one who dealt with as much as Steven did at his age. Also glad that they repeatedly hammer that there's no single or easy solution and that a lot of attempted "band-aids" only end up making things worse.

Taigan

Go back and rewatch some of the early episodes where Steven gets hurt in a very cartoony way, now bearing in mind that he’s getting injured like anyone else and it’s just that his power is instantly healing it. Also, I know it’s not that kind of show, but if he hadn’t proposed Steven would *absolutely* have gotten laid after that picnic and song. (Or, he would have if I’d been Connie at least 😅)

Matrim

I can’t I can’t I can’t I Can’t

bookinit

Future has an extremely special place in my heart (honestly even more than the main show) becuase of the topics it covers. It was incredibly timely for me. Two months prior to its airing I was diagnosed with PTSD complete with panic attacks and disassociatve flashbacks. I was still learning how to live with the condition. I learned to cope by watching Steven cope. Guess misery loves company🤣 but seriously so happy you are reacting to this. Keep up the good work Mosco👍❤️

Martin E Melcher

I can see these episodes being reasons why some people dont like the series. It covers real HEAVY stuff and a lot of people dont know how to or simply can't handle discussions like this

David Perea

Yeah and also he’s a diamond? Like he’s not a normal human it’s not hard to understand that he’s powerful and an emotional teen is easy to get carried away x1000 with diamond powers

Matrim

You’ve entered the (Marvel Avengers) Endgame now. These last few episodes are—well, let’s say spiritually taxing. I love Future so much, and I know some of the earlier episodes like Bluebird and A Very Special Episode are just kinda fluff and feel unfulfilling, but I feel like we kinda needed some fluff earlier because it just gets SO HEAVY as the season progresses. Just remember to show Steven some grace, you’re not going to see him at his best, but remember that he’s both still a kid and (as this episode clearly demonstrates) he’s dealt with a LOT of shit.

Luis Hernandez

Yeah this was around the time where Future started to become uncomfortable to watch bc of how close to home it hit. But I still think it's a pretty good show and it helped me a lot

Laiel Shepherd

Same (CPTSD, very emotional episode)

Olive

I like watching reactions to them, but I cry every single time without fail. They did such a great job.

Christopher Bartsch

Poor poor Steven. That would've been FANTASTIC first official date as a proper couple. Sadly he jumped straight to the "proposal" stage of a relationshp. Just shows where the state of his mind is right now.

Christopher Bartsch

Steven spent so much of the original series sacrificing his own wants and needs to help the needs of The Crystal Gems and the greater good in general ("The Test" all the way back in Season 1 is like case en point of that). When you spend most of your early life cleaning up the horrific aftermaths of a genocide and dealing with the violent oppressors responsible for that, that's gonna mess you up a little bit. As much as this sucks for Steven, it's a part of himself that he NEEDED to address. You can only bury and compartmentalize so far before it overflows to the surface. Sometimes, you just have to face it.

Christopher Bartsch

@David Perea. And also, he spent so much of the original series and movie learning HOW awful the Diamonds were and learning how many people his mother hurt (unintentionally or not) by trying to move away from that. So while dealing with all of the normal stresses of puberty and identity struggles that come normally through adolescence while ALSO developing powers that basically say "Guess what kid, as much as you don't want to be, you're still a diamond too! Sucks to suck!". I'd probably crash out too. Honestly a really bold way to explore the show thru a new lens. I'll always appreciate it for how it turns the premise of the show on it's head.

Christopher Bartsch

I think some people we're expecting "Steven Universe Season 6" with another big overarching enemy to fight and plenty of focus on the other gems and characters. Which, could lead to some disappointment from people who got the wrong idea. But Future is very much it's own thing and it's very much "Steven's Season" When you look at Steven himself and his own mental fallout from [gestures broadly] EVERYTHING in the original series. Every episode gets immensely more interesting. Because even the more filler episodes like "Very Special" or "Bluebird" tie into that theme in some way. It's honestly very cool to me.

Angelus Lupus

I'd forgotten how deep these particular episodes were: This is the first time Steven has had breathing space to reflect on just how traumatic his life has been! Nowadays my body's over-reaction to stress (on top of the anxiety/panic) is extreme heat-flashes! Not fun.

Angelus Lupus

If there IS an enemy, it's Steven's trauma and it's possibly a tougher fight than the Diamonds.

Camaleonino#

great video as always, and i just wanna say it all just started, so get your heart prepered, couse this one was kinda light for me, but the next ones are kinda that very heavy for me, so be prepered couse happyness is not in your future, love you and your reactions by the way, hope everything in your live goes fine

Jake DB

yep, now your getting into the truly DEEP episodes

Willow Arkan

Connie is such a good girlfriend, friend and person. And her mother has the experience and language to immediately figure out what causes Steven's problems. Even if the symptoms are gem related the actual causes are more common among sentients in the show, like it's not just a human thing it is a matter that could effect gems in some ways as well. Such a great episode

CaptainChar

I can still watch the episodes, I may get some sniffles, but yeah... like steven I was exposed to alot of things I shouldn't have been, now i know certain things trigger a fight or flight in me now and I try to censor them

Vex Valor

The reason I love Steven Universe Future is because of the well written mental health. I personally take solace in talking about mental health to better understand my own thoughts and emotional regulation. Actually acknowledging all the awful things Steven went through as a child was so important because he really did go through so much.

Stellar Kruize

Hope ya'll are doing okay! With your life and tears and Elijah's exhausted reaction, I hope you two aren't pushing yourselves too hard! <3

JamJarWorks

Steven Universe FEAR, here we are! (FFEEEAAARAAGUGAHAHOO-)

Eliteguard99

Steven: “I’m gonna propose to Connie!” Me watching SUF in 2019: “Hoo boy this is gonna be bad for Steven, no way in hell Connie says yes.”

A Dead Diehard

I remember the impromptu therapy session getting dunked on for a while, even by people I consider very far from the professional haters. But the way I see it, it's something the audience needs to hear, as well as Steven.

detective potato

I love how this episode points out how you may heal physically from trauma but mentally it can take much longer especially without the proper help and therapy.

Dawn's Echo

The funny and sad part of Steven recalling everything in his childhood before Connie's mom interrupted him was just the first half of season one. :(

Tobias Fox-winkler

Brownies is actually the second age group in girl scouts! It goes: Daisies>Brownies>Juniors>Cadets>(I forgot the last one)>leaders (the adults who run girl scout troops)

peachy af

her face immediately dropping when steven got down on one knee LMFAO

bo_the_fish

Thats wild, because that one scene is what got me to fully watch Steven Universe when it came across my fyp. I thought it was fully necessary and also a great lesson for children, who may have never learned something like that otherwise!

OziasEvren

I absolutely adore your shirttttt 😭

Joey Quixote

I love how "Growing Pains" recontextualizes the entire series up to this point. Early on we see all the abuse Steven suffers and chalk it up to cartoon logic. Then Dr. Maheshwaren confirms that we should not have been laughing. It's made me look at so many other cartoons differently. I was in Cub Scouts. Achieved the rank of Webelow and quit. Boy Scouts was next and my older brother made it sound like a nightmare. He was just a drama queen though.

Chris P3

I made it all the way to Eagle Scout myself.

Gone

I started in Cub Scouts once, maybe twice, but the unit never lasted very long or I lost interest or something happened. But yeah, this section of SUF is when I realized it was really doing something and hoped it would follow through. Whether it DOES follow through or not I won't say cause spoilers, but this chunk of the show was definitely a big "suddenly leaning forward paying closer attention" moment.

Ace_n_Anxious

That pause to cry was so valid. I've done that with a couple of these episodes. <3 Treat yourself!

Film Vagabond

I never watched the last episode of Future, I didn't want it to end

Pan Boi

Watching Future for the first time was such a rollercoaster for me, and learning that so many people disliked this show honestly made me feel pretty horrible about myself because... I see myself in Steven so, so much here. Everything he says and does hits home and I think if things were a tiny bit different for me, I'd be doing many of the things he does later on. I've definitely had intrusive thoughts equivalent to them. But Future means so much to me, it helped me realize why I was feeling things the way I was, and to give myself a little slack, seek out my friends because they want to support me. This show means the world to me. Rewatching is definitely hard to do, but I do love to rewatch it to remind myself it's okay to feel and to feel bad, to seek help when I'm not doing well. That my trauma and my responses because of it and my intrusive thoughts do not make me a bad person. And I very often need that reminder. I am so, so glad Future exists and I'm so glad they handled everything in it so damn well, and wrote it beautifully. Even if not everyone like it, or even hate how they did this show. It's near perfect to me, and it helped so many people through their own stuff. I think that makes for a great show.

Zefram Mann

I never knew what was wrong with me until Connie's mom explained it, and it was such an enormous weight off my shoulders.

James S

"Who is she trying to doctor, Steven or us?" ... "Yes..."

Pikagirl

Every time I see Growing Pains, I cry.

SauceyRed

Growing Pains is genuinely my favorite (or at least top 3) episode of Future, even though I haven't experienced really anything particularly traumatic and can't technically relate to him, I just get so empathetic when I see people/characters tearing up and feeling so sad. And I love how well-written it is.
