CaptainChar

Oh no, I just went through this, not again

Dafydd Mac an Leigh

I still love that Amber the Fall Maiden has practically no lines besides combat grunts and whatnot and yet they still cast LAURA F***ING BAILEY for that. This was CRWBY showing off

NorthernSkyline

Travis Willingham makes a cameo this volume as one of the Atlesian captains. I think they were both fans of the show and wanted to pitch in!

jessie H

I believe that all the maidens have the ability to use all of the elements, they just choose whatever ones they like. I could be wrong

BartonBelladonna

man, Mosco, you are about to have a heart attack and I worry for you XD

jessie H

Time to grab Hamish and your Emotional support girlfriend!

Hi-Viz

Great reaction, the only negative is that we have to wait for a week for IT

Hi-Viz

I think it was also the case they just happened to be around the office at the time of recording and they offered them the chance to get into the volume

Ryan

Chapter 7: "I nervous! I scared!" (Bane voice) Now is not the time for fear, Mosco. That comes later. Oh no, are you recording the rest of volume three in one sitting? Hamish, your services will be required... I hope Elijah's shirt is absorbant because there will be tears. "Oh my god, he's got robotic legs!" and they're also a gun. "I bet [Elijah's] reaction was just her fawning over Cinder this entire [episode]." Well, you're not wrong. Chapter 8: "Oh shit. Oh no!" Oh, yes. Keep in mind that Elijah convinced you to watch RWBY after she finished volume three. So she knew what you would go through. If you need any encouragement to continue, ask Elijah to show you the t-rex arm flap she did during the beach episode in volume six. The night is always darkest before the dawn. And the sun is setting...

Nora is such a refreshing take on high energy anime girls mainly due to that being only one part of who she is as a character, whereas it's common for "hyper goofball" to be the only real trait similar characters in other media get. Like she's ridiculous and played for comedic purposes a lot of the time, but she's also capable of being serious and is one of the most emotionally intelligent characters in the whole show. I think Nora is one of the best examples of how good the character writing is because they didn't just shove her into a generic mold and call it good like so many shows (and especially anime) are content to do.

BrightHeart

to think that seven months ago. The do nothing to the cook scene was Mosco's first glimpse into RWBY over on Elijah's channel

SQX Barto

I'm glad your first guess was that Mercury's dad maybe deserved his fate.

CrowOfAFeather

It's so refreshing to see a reactor actually notice Cinder putting on a glove, I can't stress that enough! :D

Ep 7: So you can usually tell when Em is using her semblance of delusions when you hear the sound cue like at 12:43. Emerald is also the reason why Qrow couldn’t make out their faces. Just a note for future reference, Maidens aren’t tied to a specific element. They can control all elements. The powers also aren’t gone if the person runs out of aura, unlike a semblance. No aura, no semblance. Ep 8: AKA Yang and Pyrrha having a very bad time. Thank god for Nora and Velvet because this episode needed some levity. Poor Jaune… he said the right things at the wrong time. He doesn’t have any context, but to Pyrrha all she hears is “do anything to become the Huntress you want to be even if it means sacrificing her ties to him and her friends.”

Sam

I would like to note there is a RWBY Character Short you have to watch before starting Volume 4, I noted it wasn't mentioned in your Trello Schedule

jessie H

Awesome! I thought that was the case!‘it is so hard not to give examples that are spoilery!

It’s also probable that it’s a way to ward off Grimm. People outside the kingdoms don’t have walls or turrets or armies or robots to protect them, so their best option is to avoid attracting them in the first place. Some of them (Blake, Ren) opt to be as calm as possible, while others go in the opposite direction and try to be enthusiastic and happy all the time. That’s my personal headcanon anyways

Wil DeYoung

I love that they do a lot of show don't tell in this series. For example, they don't make it blatantly obvious when Pyrrha uses her semblance but there's always a sound cue, same for Emerald and a lot of the cast. Every semblance more or less has a unique sound. But we also see it demonstrated with Emerald's semblance in that we get to know what she can do and what she can't by seeing it. The headache bit tells us her limits, the flashback demonstrates the difference between what the target sees and what everyone else sees. By showing us in the flashback, it retroactively explains what happened to Yang. They never go through and explain exactly what happened to her, they trust that the audience is smart enough to figure it out if they leave enough breadcrumbs in the story without infodumping.

Jittercritter

Honestly I feel like the fact that Yang DIDNT say she regretted it is why Blake smiled a little bit. She wanted Yang to have regretted it, even asked her to say as much, but Yang didn’t because lying isn’t in her nature. It sounds like Blake was used to Adam constantly giving her empty apologies, whereas Yang offered an explanation but remained completely honest as well. That’s a huge difference, and while it may not necessarily be what Blake wanted to hear, it seems like she decided it was what she needed to hear after all And I know it’s a really simple line, but Qrow’s “sometimes bad things just happen” has really stuck with me

Jittercritter

You’re definitely not the first person to headcanon Ruby as some type of neurodivergent. The most I see is ADHD or Autism but I’ve seen dyslexic for her as well

EmberPanther

Fun note related to your Ruby being Dyslexic head cannon: I have kind of always gotten the vibe that she is Neurodivergent, and I have sort of head cannoned for a while that she is Autistic (like me). It is very fun seeing different perspectives and takes on that part of Ruby. ❤️

supersoaker

Wait, there are people who didn't notice that?

CrowOfAFeather

Oh absolutely, or at the very least they don't mention it.

While it definitely wasn't easy for Cinder, Emerald, and Mercury to take on Amber, it could've been so much worse for them. Qrow said earlier on that Amber was a young and inexperienced Maiden who didn't have full control over her powers yet. Imagine what could happen if Cinder had the Maiden powers AND the time to master them.

"Fall" and "Beginning of the End" together are still my favorite two episodes of the series. For the first time ever, everything stops for a long sequence of verbal exposition that essentially just explains the plot but still leaves a lot of questions. It's almost out of character for the show at this point, which has been fast and loose with that sort of thing. Then it finishes with a fight scene that almost seems like its purely for pacing issues or an "apology" for making us deal with that, but even that quickly turns into something that's obviously much more important and leaves us with a ton of questions. Instead of sitting on it all, we're immediately given answers and context for everything in what is also the show's first real extended flashback sequence: we see what the Maiden power actually can do, we confirm that Cinder is the assailant, we see the extent and limit of Emerald's ability which has only been teased before, that Mercury wasn't actually hurt, what Qrow's been talking about when he says he knows there are "pawns" out there, and even a bit of backstory for all of the villains. We're told, then we're immediately shown. If all that wasn't the big mystery, what is? It's really clever writing and pacing that plays with your expectations about tropes and how this sort of story is "supposed" to go - and this is just the beginning.

Konrad Dunbar

vol 3 episode 8 is the first time they've used tears in the show! I think they picked a great moment to implement them even if it hurts! can't wait for the next few!!

Arashi

As much as I hate Mercury for this, the soundtrack when he came out to face Ruby was just so... excellent. That said... get Elijah on hand for the end, because you are not ready. At. All.

Suplee215

I love how the reaction to Yang is so well written. It isnt just giving the authority figures the idiot ball as usually happens in frame jobs of good characters in fiction. People who know Yang are just looking at it from PTSD or something similiar. Which a general like Ironwood will be extremely aware of even if he didnt personally experience it. Blake's questions woth her own personal experience of trusting someone and then having that trust abused makes complete sense.

Symbolic Remnant

Man, RWBY and Future are going to be… a lot, for you coming up, given IRL on top of it

Diesel Marcus

I think the investment into Penny is about to pay off ;)

CRuhl_Para_TPT911

Interesting…the illusion Emerald uses as bait for Autumn looks like a younger version of herself. Jaune with Pyrrha: he is really trying to say the right thing. Unfortunately he does not have the same fact she does, or where her mind is going. She’s now in love with him, put by telling her that the woman he knows would never let anything stand in the way of that destiny,…well that’s an act that could very well rewrite the very person she is…and what she has with Jaune.
