One fun thing about the whole Schnee family, they all represent one of the four F's of the expanded "fight or flight" response to Jacques' abuse. Winter is the flight response, she runs away into the military to escape his clutches. Weiss is the fight response, she pushes back agaianst him and tries to change the family for the better. Willow is the freeze response, she doesnt respond directly in any way other than drink herself half to death. Whitley is the fawn response, he tries to avoid the abuse by flattering his father and doing everything he says.

i think the reason Oscar has been acting more like Ozpin isnt because Oz is in control secretly but simply showing us that their souls are inevitably merging into one Oscar is beginning to remember and recollect memories that belong to Oz as his own

Cinder came to Atlas because team RWBY and co were heading there, that's why she wanted the info from Little Miss Malachite in v6 because she has a personal vendetta with Ruby, and that's also why she brought Neo to do her dirty work for her, as she's technically not allowed to kill Ruby because Salem wants her alive for whatever reason, the Winter maiden and the staff of creation are just the icing on the cake for her, as she's so power hungry and needing of approval from Salem after having failed her last time, as far as we know Cinder knew Salem was planning to attack Vacuo after Mistral, but as Salem was about to tell her minions about her plans to go after "the sword under Vacuos academy Shade" her plans changed after Hazel told her Oz was back and heading to Atlas, so then she decided to send Tyrian and Watts to atlas "to prepare"

We never see Ironwood's hand (and Robin's semblance) while he talks about Amity being finished. So there is nothing pointing out this lie. And I have to agree that it is great seeing the good guys getting to have a plan that works. And Cinder is not your type? Not even with her boots in the current outfit? /jk As to how this season ends? Only way to find out. PS Nora gets the maiden powers from her grandmother in the finale

Prologue: Nobody ever picks truth when playing Truth or Dare with Robin Hill. Chapter 9: "The Paladin Incident" ... weren't those giant mech robots from Volume 2/3 calls Paladin? The giant mech robots that were rolled out about the same time as Penny? I feel like that throwaway line explains how Watts faked his death. Bravo, writers. Bread crumb exposition at its best. This whole volume they've been unrolling a very long fuse. And now it's lit. Chapter 10: Ah, yes, the episode with the most vivid close up in the entire show. And Mosco completely missed it. Twice. Epilogue: There's nothing to be afraid of, Mosco. Everything is going to be OK. At least until volume nine, when they all get replaced by evil versions of themselves. Evil Weiss is truly her father's daughter. Evil Blake went too far, even for Adam. Evil Yang was raised by Raven. And Evil Ruby, well... you'll just have to wait and see.

Ep 9: What’s so good is that the Council Members bring up excellent points. James shouldn’t have two seats in the council, no one should. He has been running all over their procedures. There should have been more open communication, if not the whole truth, then at least something to help the rest of the council understand the severity. “What people intend and what they do aren’t always the same.” That really sums up James here in this volume. Oh, and look! There’s that giant hole in the wall that Ironwood could have fixed before he took all the materials for Amity (yes, I’m going to bring this up every time). But hey, who cares about Mantle, right? It’s just a few city blocks. And again, he didn’t have the code updated in Mantle (and yes, I’m going to bring this up every time too), even knowing someone had hacked his drones back at Beacon, which gave Watts an in for some of their systems! Like, I know that Amity would be an ultimate good but holy shit dude fix your own place first. Ep 10: God that long shot at the beginning of the episode is just…. Comparing that to the one at the end of 3x10 is so… This team has come so far. Blake has one solo fights before. Weiss is the one that hasn't won a solo fight yet.

I love how simple the show is with things. In other shows, there will still be 1 or w people who dont believe the video just for the sake of drama. But here its like o no, Arthur's alive that explains it and youre under arrest.

Once again, you amaze me with how knowledgeable you are about filmography. that Terrian curled his tail around the image of Robyn meaning he was going after her next, a thing I hadn't noticed consciously. If you look again at Ironwood and Robyn talking, when it comes to the Amity Colosseum, they AREN'T showing their hands to hide that it was a lie that it was ready. Pretty nifty, right?

I personally think its ok to ship Oscar and Ruby but it does throw a wrench in things. The thing is, Oscar and Oz are merging into a single entity mind wise. That been stated and both lose their indivuality. It does make it weird with ozpin in there, but should he just shut himself from romance for rest of his life? What abiut the times he merged with someone already partnered with someone? It is certainly something that never occurs in real life and the ethics is weird to follow. Theres no power dynamic being exploited or anything between the 2 which is the main issue.

Weiss getting to arrest Jacques after all he did to her was so satisfying. He finally lays for is crimes against his family, against the Faunus, against the kingdom, against humanity, and against fashion. The man presents himself as fancy and proper, but he wears a clip-on tie!

A lot of people just ship it AU-style where Oz and Oscar are entirely separate entities because that makes it easier as it removes the morally questionable parts. Part of the fun in shipping is that you don't have to be canon-compliant about it if you don't want to.

what makes it weird isnt just the fact that oz is there but that oz already has an existing student teacher relationship with Ruby its not the same as him possessing someone in a relationship already or even if Oscar dated someone else who never knew ozpin

That certainly changes a prespective. Because Oz never had anything more than professional relationship and is staying away i dont think it objectively makes a difference but it certainly changes how it looks and feels.

A bit off on your issues with the staff. Where it is, isn't an issue. They can take it out any time and use it as a back-scratcher, the issue is it can only have one things 'made' at a time. It's currently making Atlas float, so unless/until something else is made, Atlas will stay in the air. On the plus side, those mammoth Grimm are /not/ Goliaths like Doctor Oobleck talked about. They're a breed unique to Solitas that's a bit more commonplace and thus slightly weaker. That said, the Megoliaths /are/ still very dangerous. At least for the time being, Oscar/Ozpin can be told by how they talk. Though as the merge continues how much of a distinction that is will likely count for less. So that was Oscar's advice, but it may have been shaped by Ozpin. Which, yeah, is the basis of my own down-vote for Rose Garden (Ruby/Oscar). The realization of Neo was everything I hoped for. "Useful in combat as well as out." Oh... sweet child you have /no/ idea how useful it is in combat. That semblance is almost as broken as the Schnee's. Just remember, the run time on chapter 13 also includes the extended credits for the volume.

Oscar is still there. Ozpin is still MIA at the moment. but you are onto something there... yes, we love Weiss getting her 'revenge' on her father! btw you were probably too busy listening to all the chatter, but in that dining room, the big portrait on the wall? the old guy in the knight armor? that's the grandfather, Nicholas Schnee, and the armor is akin to the Arma Gigas that Weiss fought and then became her first summon. Neo was scouting for Ruby... and for the lamp if possible. that's what Cinder was after - lamp first, then Ruby. going for Winter Maiden is a bonus. Cinder went to Atlas because her job in Mistral was to retrieve the lamp from Haven. and when that didn't happen, she set out to follow the kids and get the lamp from them. it's not just about her chasing Maiden magic; it's about Doing Her Job which is to bring the relics to Salem. Elm's Semblance is basically "tree roots." it's in her name: Elm, like the tall and mighty tree. and Vine, like the vines that grow and climb up the elm tree. I think it's based on some fable, because Harriet's allusion is to "The Tortoise and the Hare." god the fucking Mickey Mouse voice Mosco got excited about the good guys being one step ahead for once... I'm sorry but that's literally how I heard it XD fun fact! that biome actually does appear in the background in v3 after Penny's first shown fight. it's clear they had a few biomes planned along with at least one fight that didn't make the final cut, so I like to think the Ironwood vs Watts fight was a chance for CRWBY to revisit Amity and use a cool environment design that they couldn't use before.

It’s not really about “is it Oscar or Ozpin”. Remember, they’re like-minded souls. Hence why Oscar was chosen. Plenty of things Oscar says are stuff that both him and Ozpin would say and believe. Though there are differences between them of course, like their approach, with Oscar choosing to not keep secrets like Ozpin did. They’re still separate right now, so it can’t actually be Ozpin talking. When Oscar says something in a way that makes it seem like he was there it indicates that Ozpins life is beginning to feel more like his life. I think I’d in general say at this point, while Ozpin and Oscar are still separate, Ozpins past memories have started to influence the way Oscar acts. Regardless they’re merging, so just like Oscar won’t be Oscar, Ozpin isn’t going to be Ozpin anymore. You could say Oscar’s mindset and outlook on things have changed Ozpin’s mindset too. I’d imagine Oscar has influenced Ozpin similarly to how Ozpin is influencing Oscar. Maybe not specifically because of the merging, but because by having Ozpin be able to see Oscar’s actions and know all of his thoughts you’d think it may cause him to rethink his own viewpoints.

IIRC, the Gravity biome was the only one designed for Volume 3 that we never got to see (it was intended for a 2nd-round match between Nora & Pyrrha and Sun & Neptune that got cut for time). I love that they finally got a use for it

Always love that Ironwood went on about how his army could totally protect the other kingdoms after he causes a panic and their missiles can't even do shit to the Grimm XD Also poor Oscar, still being dehumanized, and Ironwood not being willing to break the Atlesian blockade of Atlas itself because it 'endangers Atlas' even as Mantle is dying, big oofs.

I feel Tyrian's nominal 'loss' to Qrow was more due to him dicking around with RNJR beforehand and in much of the fight with Qrow over actually lacking in the ability to win. I mean he didn't even bother using his Semblance. Of all the villains Tyrian's ego is one of his greatest weaknesses.

Honestly it says a lot about her low regard for Ironwood that Salem was basically just like "Yeah I can leave that guy alone and he'll self destruct on his own" and she only bothered to send people to deal with Atlas once she found out Ozpin would be there because he might "Make Ironwood see reason" I love this little detail that so many miss, like she was 100% not viewing Ironwood as a threat.
