Justin Gregory

Oh hell yeah we're getting into it now

Liam Ashcroft

i don't like this episode the part with mark an amber only.

Phineas97024

This and the next episode is what made the fandom hate Amber. Whether or not you think it’s warranted is up to you.

Via dot 124

Cannot fuckin wait for the next two reactions for this, ur in for a ride

Shay

As someone who very much disagrees with Amber, the sheer LEVEL of hate she gets is unwarranted; I understand frustration or anger, but not the hate

Phineas97024

Agreed. I did get a bit annoyed with her, but something felt a little weird about the ENORMOUS wave of hate she was getting. I guess that’s just what happens when thousands of people online are annoyed at the same character at the same time.

Suplee215

A lot of fraternities also try to reach out for a few reasons. 1 just to make the party better. 2, to recruit and most fraternities are connected tk sororities. And 3 to recruit for the school in general. Basically just being an ambassadors to the school for anyone visiting.

Dustin Nelson

Oh, Eve said "you're not going to try to talk me out of it? Rex would've" after she told mark her idea to just help people and seemed surprised he supported her

Suplee215

Theres another reason too. Theres a superficial difference from the comics and show that helped escalate the hate.

Phineas97024

I feel like most of the changes from the comic actually turn out pretty well. I think they were actually on the right path to improving upon Amber’s character. The choice they make in the next episode (avoiding spoilers) just kind of threw it out of whack.

Dustin Nelson

If you can, try to do episode 7 and 8 back to back, and I will say have the cow plushie on standby.

Sweet N Savory Venom

Hmm if ya had the ability to instantly replenish natural resources as they're being used, like Eve can, then I feel like you'd actually have as many enemies as fans.

Suplee215

Fair. To be more direct, a lot of hate towards her is because shes black in the show. Not all of it but sure did help it spread.

Suplee215

Invincible is a great comic adaption. It feels like a full superhero world like the mcu or dcau without needing each hero to have their own thing. Just feels so fleshed out.

Vlee

This whole Amber reaction between this ep and the next is a writer communication issue. I like Amber overall, but this little arc made me dislike her at first.

Shay

Eve went to Mark basically just for moral support from a friend for her decision, that's all. She was just happy he agreed with her which helped her feel better, especially with how much her dad sucks I'm sure she's just happy to have anyone give her some validation that she's not crazy for her independent decisions before she faces him. Also, Viltrumites don't have superhearing; everyone always thinks they do, but they don't.

Shay

You grieving for Rick was so sweet, I remember back when I watched this episode and my reaction to Rick was basically "I've had Rick for five minutes and if anything happens to him I will kill everyone in this room". I immediately loved him and William, those are my babies🥹

Neil Marshall

Sea Sill [US pronunciation of Cecil] Set (no t) Sill [UK pronunciation of Cecil] Set (not t) Seal (Emphasise seal) - femme name e.g. Cécile

Neil Marshall

It's not at all important. This is only if you're curious

Rixec2

Yeah, Invincible is great in its writing, characters, and showing the other side of superheroics. A big part of that is that Robert Kirkman loves superheroes. He didn't set out to make some bleak deconstruction because he thinks they're silly and stupid. He loves them and wanted to explore more how such a world full of them and how we react to them work. Yeah, dark things happen, but you still see how they try to help where they can, like with Eve going around doing things other than fighting crime.

Athena

I'm not really into super-hero media, but this show genuinely makes me appreciate the genre so much. It's just such high-caliber writing and execution and it stays so consistent. I'm honestly surprised people weren't voting for it on polls, It would be one of my top recommendations.

Curtis Harvey

That last one might be important later after we meet everyone's genderswapped doppelgangers from that alternate dimension.

Curtis Harvey

Most of the time, cameo appearances age poorly when the actor goes down in disgrace. This episode somehow avoided it twice by depicting Justin Roiland's character as a drunken creep who harasses women and Ezra Miller's character as a psychopath who kidnaps people.

Jonathan Smith

Honestly, I thought she was doing it as a gag. I applaud her for trying, even though it may be difficult. If she want's to keep trying, she'll get there. If she doesn't, it won't stop me from enjoying the reactions.

Jonathan Smith

Honestly, if you hadn't named them, I wouldn't have even realized that's who they were.

Jonathan Smith

Yeah, this show could have been a real train wreck. Writing has gotten progressively better since the 80's animated shows. I love how the writers treat the viewers as intelligent.

Jonathan Smith

I agree. See my above reply to Athena

Jonathan Smith

Yeah, Nolan was scowling at seeing Debbie's car outside Art's shop and put 2 and 2 together after finding his costume gone.

Tintros

-Nah, superhero comics are full of advanced degrees, half of Batman's villains are Dr. this and Professor that, and some have the degree but not the title, just to shake things up a bit. -Some comics (Damage Control comes to mind, also the She-hulk storylines) have explored what having powers can be used to do other than punch, kick, zap. It's kinda interesting. The Authority explored this some, too. -*snickers at the jumpscare response* -Your voice got very high during the 'I can't trust anyone' rant :) -"You being a superhero is the coolest thing thats ever happened to me" Sums it up pretty good. Reflected glory without any of the sticky bits (he'd hope.) -"NOT HER" Oh come now.. would this show do THAT? ;) Its almost like you've been traumatized by shows in the past... -Hamish is RIGHT THERE! This is what he's here for, no?

Gourmande

Re: Cecil. This has probably already been beaten to death, but. The second syllable usually to me sounds like sill (like a window sill) and is associated with the name being masculine. The way you've been saying it sounds to me like seal (like the water mammal). Which I would usually spell Cecille and is associated with the name being feminine. If we didn't have two names that sound like the two pronunciations in question, I think there would be less pushback.

Wilhelm Hedin

Don't forget to watch the Atom Eve special after season 1.

David Johnson

"Does he just have the same seven jumpers and he washes them?" He's a teenage boy...even washing them might be overly optimistic of you.

Stellar Kruize

Noooo there was no "woo" after haste ye back mf lol

Speed1247

What sucks is that it became a self justification for people who hated her earlier even though she didn't show any real issues prior to this.

Vlee

100%, really unfortunate
