It's not a pride flag (as cool as that would be), it's just refracted light (a rainbow). I guess Scotland doesn't do ROY G BIV to remember Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo, Violet. That's how we remember the colors in the US. As for Nolan at the end, he hates weakness the way most of us hate Nazis. His son, without powers, acting like a happy, sweet kid would be the equivalent of your son, the one raised from birth coming home one day tattooed with skinhead nonsense and a shaved dome. He's trying to control himself but he views it as a betrayal like nothing else.

This origin story just shows how Eve is like what she is in the present: wanting to help people not just in crime fighting, always struggling to live with her parents, especially her “father”, and just how powerful her powers are at it’s full potential. Very dark and sad indeed. 😢💖

One thing to note about the invincible universe is that there are very very few natural born super humans. Apart from being a separate species like mark or Martian man. Which is why eve’s parents are weird about it, at least partially. Invincible follows the idea that heroes/villains are made not born

eve could've saved her family, but she chose revenge. and since the trigger for that aspect of her powers is so specific and extreme, she must feel that guilt every day. i've said it before: its a damn miracle that eve turned out so well adjusted.

so you did miss it but war woman is a lesbian, at least in the comics, it wasn't shown in the show, but they hinted at it here. When she's talking with the immortal about calling nolan the reservist immortal tells her she has a lot to learn about men, she says not interest. It's a lot less blatant than in the comics when we first see her, shes naked in bed with her girlfriend, but it's a nod to her sexuality that they didn't reveal in the first ep

I think they didn’t want to put too much emphasis on it considering she’s a character that’s made to die in the first episode and it wouldn’t look the best if they made a big deal out of a character, whose literally just made to die, being gay

The rainbow poster in Eve’s room is just an abbreviation for learning colours. Don’t put too much stock into it. I don’t mean this in a rude way, just don’t want you to get your hopes up about something the show isn’t doing with her.

Horrors of this episode / special aside, I just want you to know; Your Christmas story put the biggest smile on my face. Haven't smiled so broad in, well, a long time. Thank you for picking up this show. It wasn't one of my nominations, and I don't think I ever voted for it. But you picking it up was the push I needed to start watching. This show is brilliant and I am loving it!

Yeah, sadly Eve is... very not gay. There's simply nothing even hinting at the contrary. The show could also use more queer rep, imo, but I know this show likely isn't the place where we'll find that much. Good characters, action & storytelling, but I think we'll have to rely on *other* people to make the good queer animated shows.

No. S1 came out early 2021 and this special came out mid 2023. Inbetween S1 and 2. (You might have watched it before S1, but it came out after that point)
