IIRC from the other Cutie Mark Chronicle episodes of the season, and since they all got their cutie marks the same day as this episode shows, then Applejack is the oldest, Rainbow Dash is the youngest, and from the griffon episode, Fluttershy is a year older than Pinkie Pie, which would also make her older than RD, meaning they nailed the designs in the flashback.

The Apple siblings may not look exactly alike but they have very similar color schemes. Applejacks coat is orange and Big Mac has an orange mane. Applebloom has a blonde coat and red mane, while Applejack has a blonde mane and Big Mac has a red coat. Big Mac and Applejack both have Green eyes, and Applebloom has the same eye color as Granny Smith.

Pony genetics aren’t really well established. Things can get passed down, but it’s not terribly surprising if neither parent passes on their colors. It is pretty normal for foals to share their parents’ species (unicorn, etc). You don’t see terribly many families with different pony species. For what it’s worth, Pinkie DID inherit her mother’s blue eyes. Twilight doesn’t share many colors with her parents, but her mother clearly has the same design as Generation 1 Twilight (this series is Gen 4).

There's a pretty popular fan theory that Twilight wasn't supposed to hatch the egg. That it was either a fake or a dud egg, and the point was to see how potential students would react to a challenge they couldn't overcome. Twilight's magic was just so powerful that she broke the system, hence why Celestia made her her personal pupil.

Hey Mosco! I don't know how ahead you are IRL, but you'll soon be approaching S2 E14 "The Last Roundup". PLEASE watch a fan re-upload of the original episode and not the official version from Hasbro. This episode was edited after it first aired in what ended up being (in my opinion) one of the most heartbreaking controversies of the entire series.

When I forst saw this episode, it led me to think (and I still DO think) that Rarity's "special skill" isn't LITERALLY finding hidden gems, but proverbially so, she can find the right way to show off anyone's best traits, and her dressmaking is a core part of that.

Love this episode! Though it loses a bit of the magic later on when it's revealed that the rainboom actually caused a LOT of ponies to get their marks and they all show up wanting to be Rainbow's friend. Not a terrible setup, but could have done without the rest of the cast being run out of town.

The big lore drop episode! Learning that the Mane 6 were destined to be friends long before they met is cool and all, and the big reveal that Twilight was responsible for hatching Spike opens a whole world of questions. But nothing is quite as shocking as the reveal that Pinkie 'Party Pony' Pie, the Element of Laughter, had quite possibly the most depressingly boring childhood imaginable!

What a timely shirt! Season 4 of Vox Machina has started on this week. As the boss monkey/fearless leader would say: "Well, that's just Prime." The breathing bit reminded me of the Breathing Techniques from Demon Slayer: Kimetsu No Yaiba. While an excellent show, it does have classic yokai demons that eat people. I strongly advise against it as all the blood and gore, in the first episode no less, makes it Not Safe For Mosco. As for this episode, it's MLP's Canon/Nexus Event. It will play a larger role in he future. Despite this, Hasbro never release official merch of the Mane Six as filly's. Maybe one of the fans plushie makers did.

I think Fluttershy is the only canonically "older" one though, isn't she? In the episode Griffon the brush off, she tells Pinkie Pie that she's "one year older" than her. So the only actual canon info we have on their ages is that Fluttershy is a year older than pinkie, but we don't know how old Pinkie is in relation to everyone else. The series creator stated that they were meant to be young-adult age though, anywhere from late teens to mid twnties (depending on the episode lets be so fr lol) and in (spoilers for EQG past here:) the equestria girls' series, they're all in the same grade in highschool (probably 16-18)

I loooooove this episode so much!! It’s crazy how fleshed out the mane ponies were from the beginning. Even little things like hobbies they have that are unrelated to their main personality are things that remain consistent and develop throughout the show. Regarding scootaloo and AJ being the exact same color: yeah, the colors don’t indicate family or anything. But also, the show just likes to stick to its color palette, which was always something I had fun looking for when watching. Like, Fluttershy, Applebloom, AJ’s mane, and the yellow stripe in Rainbow’s mane are all the exact same yellow. Pinkie is the exact same light pink as Fluttershy’s mane. Pinkie’s mane is the exact same darker pink as Applebloom’s bow, and the pink stripe in Twilight’s mane. Etc. Just fun character design/color scheme details to notice!

It does make it a hard sell when over half of the Mane 6 didn't live in Ponyville, meaning it could be any of AJ, Fluttershy, or Twilight. Can't be Pinkie because she's a year younger than Shy, but other than that, zero indication AFAIK

There are hints ar the age 'order' because there are birthdays episodes in the show and in the comics and faust said "the number of candles matter", and in some comics is said rarity is the closer in age to fluttershy, already putting her between pinkie and fluttershy, then in another comic about the apple family, pinkie is invited because spoiler reasons ans they made a line from older to younger and pinkie is older than AJ, then, Twilight is meant to be a jr student and younger than most of them except for RD, which agebis literally confirmed at certain episode making her the youngest one... people literally made conspiranoic boards about this back in the day 🤣😂 And yes, for eg they just simplifly it by all being same age except for su set who looks teenager but is in her 30s

I always feel a great connection to this episode and especially Twilight's letter at the end. I do a podcast with my best friend, and a few years ago, I learned that he used to go to a local theme park, Canobie Lake Park, during select weekends as his father worked for General Electric and since that company helped sponsor attractions at the park, his family could go for free. As it turns out, my grandfather also worked for GE and I went to many of those company weekends at the park when I was younger as well. He and I could very well have ridden rides together or stood in the line for hamburgers and hotdogs together before we even knew each other. Not that I can recall as I was only like 5 or 6 at the time, but it makes me smile to think that we did.

This is my favorite episode. Not only is it great and lore-full in its own right, but it actually gets mirrored a bit later on in the Crusaders' story. Also, like, Rainbow literally TAUGHT PINKIE TO SMILE. I mean, there's nothing more heartwarming than that, I think, in all of fiction. It's top 10 at least.
