One thing to remember is that these are a combination of the memories of N & Vee, memories that have probably been corrupted several times by attempted mind wipes. They may not be 100% accurate (much like Luz didn't remember some things entirely as they happened... except more-so). In the beginning we're watching that tape they found last episode. I think the Drone that woke up in the dump was Cyn, and that Tessa found her and brought her home, because it looks like Tessa *way* better relates to the Drones than to humans - which given her parents is unsurprising. I also suspect that the tiny chance of mutation that was mentioned in the video happened in her, and created the Absolute Solver program.

The face screen on the zombie drone in the beginning has some text that explains a bit about what's happening when the Solver takes over.

A little detail I thought was interesting was N being chained up while birds peck at him, very similar to the Greek god Prometheus' fate. Poor N, just trying to protect his sister. Cyn is definitely no joke, though.
